Goodbye Geo

For those of you who used to follow my blog in the early days, you might remember I had a dog called Geo. My ex-wife and I got him right after getting married and he was the friendliest, cutest and silliest dog ever. Everyone who met him loved him and he continued to be silly and act puppy-like even though he got older and bigger.

Four months ago we found out Geo had cancer and his condition started deteriorating rapidly ever since. A couple of days ago we sadly had to put him to sleep. He had just turned 13 last month.

For the past two years, Geo’s been living with my ex-wife in Canada where he got to experience snow for the first time, go for long walks in the forest and play fetch in beautiful green parks. I didn’t get to say goodbye, so I guess this post is my way of saying goodbye to him. I miss you stupid dog.

Oh man I remember Geo, he’s one of the few things you posted about on your blog that takes me back to my college years and the early days of reading your blog. Sorry to hear that, and goodbye Geo.

Oh I’m so sorry, losing a pet is like losing a family member. I’ve had to say goodbye to a few and its just devastating. God bless!

Gentle creatures pets. He will forever be acting silly where he is now, and get to play in the biggest, greenest parks.

Is it 13 years already!!!! I remember when you posted his picture for the first time and I commented that it looks like an ugly goofy goat..you blocked me for a year or more…Farewell goofy goat.

Hard to say Goodbye..
My wife and I have had to put so many of our beloved family down.
It Is So hard to say goodbye. We agree it is last kind thing we can do for them we can’t let them suffer..
I like to think that when a child arrives at the gates of heaven they are met with a beloved dog or cat that has been trained by loving people on this side of the gate. So it was time for a child to receive your best friend take comfort in thinking that Goe will continue to display all he learned from you both and has a new person to keep company..

All dogs deserve a good human..

So sorry about your loss mark.. I remember Geo from your earlier posts right from the time he went through the customs process through his first night home whining to be with you and Nat. I also remember the time you were offended when some one on the street asked if Geo was for sale and who were like who would want to sell a part of their family..

RIP Geo.. you were part of a much larger family and were really loved.

This story resonates with me. I found my Kuwaiti desert dog as a puppy on the streets of Mahboula 13 years ago. I brought him back to Australia 6 years ago. Had to put him to sleep a year ago after a cancerous tumour was diagnosed. I feel your loss.
