According to a contact of mine, Alshaya are bringing Primark, the popular multinational fashion retailer to Kuwait and the Middle East GCC.
Primark is known for offering affordable, fast fashion and a wide range of clothing, accessories, and home goods. The brand is particularly popular for its trendy styles at low prices, appealing to budget-conscious shoppers.
I don’t have any idea on when they’re planning to open their first location, but I’d imagine they would need at the very least a year. I’ll update this post if I discover more.
<strong>Update: It’s now official.

vow mashallah
Oh god, more trashy clothes in the market.. also, I hope the prices remain affordable and budget-friendly here in Kuwait as well, and the clothes are not passed off as high street fashion here
Signing an agreement to explore opportunities to expand into the GCC doesn’t sound like the expansion is a done deal to me … promising though.
I think it’s similar to the deal they had made with Disney where they start off by selling Primark brand in debenhams and then eventually open a standalone store
ah okay that would make sense
They need to bring Uniqlo.
Yasss ! But not with Alshaya. Their buyers and pricing are all wrong.
Yes they hike their prices like there’s no tomorrow. Uniqlo is good quality but still affordable outside. Don’t want it to be overpriced here in KW.
i want postmark to come to Kuwait.😁
This is clever and a brilliant strategy from the House of Al Shaya in step with the altered demographic in Kuwait. It isn’t 1978 anymore. I only hope they position it as a working class high street brand more at home in Salmeya’s Al Salam mall or Hawally’s Rihab Center. It would be a misfit in the Avenues or 360 as they know it only too well. Again, having said that Primark isn’t exactly ‘ Salvation Army’ meets ‘ Oxfam’ but its timing in Kuwait could not be more en pointe.
