2012 Corruption Perception Index

Kuwait came in 66th place which lies somewhere above the middle of the list while Lebanon came in a low 128th place and the UAE in a pretty good 27th position.

The most corrupt country in the world is Somalia while the least corrupt is Denmark. [Link]

they have legalised many ways of corruption. Want your documents same day from a department…. pay the extra fees and done. I would prefer it that way.

hehe yeah this is bullshit. Corruption runs from the easily visible to the completely hidden. theres no way that Kuwait is doing this well in reality!

exactly, I am curios to find out cause no way India is 94 ?! Probably somewhere between 115 – 135 would make sense unless they just look at major cities or something, which makes this pointless

The official who did the corruption survey were also corrupt and bribed.
Hence we see surprise order in the list.
Just like Kim Kardhashian paid to tweet good about Bahrain !

How is kuwait corrupt? No tax , free education, scholorships to best universities in the world, one of the highest incomes, free healthcare for all, high standard of social benefits and so many other privileges.

Yeah, but everything you mentioned is about the quality of the standard of living, which is not related to corruption. Wasta, embezzlement, awarding citizenship for election purposes, paying for voters, bribery, or even obtaining degrees from fake universities are considered forms of corruption.

Kuwait doesn’t lead the world in corruption, but lets not delude ourselves into thinking that there isn’t any corruption.

First off there is a spectrum to corruption. It ranges from getting out of a ticket or getting your iqama fast tracked (minor) to unnecessary medical travel and the manipulation of large government contracts (major).

We have all levels of corruption in Kuwait, however there is a line that is generally not crossed. 1. You cant get away with murder, 2. If you are taken to court you can generally get a fair trial or decision. 3. we vote in free and fair elections.

I know someone is going to give me examples of why MY examples are wrong, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

I take personal offence to the corruption that I see on a daily basis both minor and major. But it doesn’t mean we cant be thankful for the things we have and things we don’t have. I hope things get better soon though.

UNITED STATES #19!!!!?? LOOOOOL.. that is the biggest BS ever!!
Just because they are good at hiding it, does not mean they are not corrupt.
Find it hard to believe that Syria is more corrupt than Russia.
I find this survey extremely inaccurate.

Well the financial crisis should be a huge factor relating to corruption score to the US and banking system. However, they do have rule of law and immigrants are treated well. Maybe in smaller cities cases might vary and also among certain individuals but as a whole it’s better than a lot of places.

also lets not forget that when we talk about all the great things about this country that we are talking about citizens lives and not necessarily expats.

and um – you totally can get away with murder in kuwait – depending on who you are.

No. I have read important people getting charged with man slaughter for their actions. So how does your statement make sense then?

Go NZ! Seems we are first equal with Denmark and Finland. Certainly don’t lead the world in much, but I think this is one we can be proud of.

Political bias is obvious. Majority of countries that are not “allies” of big powers, are given red or dark red. Russia, North Korea, Venezuela etc. I wonder how China survived..
