Gun ownership numbers in Kuwait

With all the gun control talk that’s currently taking place in the States right now I thought this little bit of information was interesting. According to gunpolicy.org, the rate of private gun ownership in Kuwait is 24.82 firearms per 100 people. When I first heard that figure it sounded like a lot until I realized the rate in the US in comparison is 88.8 firearms per 100 people. But, confusingly, the rate of private gun ownership in Lebanon is just 21 per 100 people.

The only time you need a gun is when you are going to defend yourself against another gun. But The only reason you need to defend yourself against another gun is if they sell guns to people in the first place. Its a vicious cycle.

What if you’re an old women, defending herself against big strong man? or what if you’re house is intruded by someone with a knife?

Most gun owners own multiple guns, it’s not that literally 90% of Americans have a gun each.

Also unless I’m remembering this wrong aren’t soldiers and policemen given guns? Does that count?

Guns for soldiers and police are not included in this analysis because they are not the personal firearms of those individuals. And you are correct that the 88% number is not right. What they did was estimate the number of guns in the states and divide by the number of people. I personally own 11 different firearms and I know many guys that own more than that. Real ownership is probably down around the 40% mark. I would suspect that the Kuwait numbers are similarly inflated too.

I think most of that number is what i call showpiece guns from the war or its spring loaded gun, very few have their firearms at working condition.

Isn’t it just for hunting guns in Kuwait? I don’t believe that non-police/military are allowed to own handguns or semi or automatic weapons here.

I am considering getting a rifle in Kuwait (something like a hunting rifle). Anyone know how to get one licensed without a was6a?

The figure in Kuwait is probably for hunting firearms, any other type of gun (Assault, handgun, etc) is illegal to own in Kuwait.
