Human Development Index 2009

The latest Human Development Index is out and Kuwait ranks 31. I honestly don’t have an idea what that exactly means but I can highlight some countries we are ahead of.

35 – United Arab Emirates
59 – Saudi Arabia
83 – Lebanon
92 – China
123 – Egypt
129 – South Africa
134 – India

The Human Development Index (HDI) is an index used to rank countries by level of “human development”, which usually also implies whether a country is developed, developing, or underdeveloped.

win?

this is “aka” the list of best places to live in the world. Since Norway is #1 in the spot, norway is the best spot to live on the Earth

https://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8290550.stm

the HDI data is old though – before 2007 – means the data was collected before the economic problems, and that means if the HDI data was collected this year….the positions of the countries would be very different.

At spot number 13 is United States…lol

Wi-fi Brunei is mor or less like Kuwait…However crime rate in Brunei is almost non-existent and people always keep their homes unlocked. We have to feel for all the African countries who truly are ‘Children of the lesser God”

Mark, this is a lest of the best counties in the world to live in based on this year’s human development in them/government’s support.

The only reason kuwait is on top portion of the list because of low local population has compared to expatriates.

If you really want to know Kuwait’s true HDI, go to any shopping mall

In fact United nation day is coming soon October 24th. If you click at UNDP you will get all the answers and this also a good one in Arabic..

The question: Does United Nation really assists as much as they suppose to ? ! Their CEO’s too get big salaries while doing nothing and their UN trucks park in different countries wasting all the donated money for big positions which lead me to think that their statistic not that accurate!

there is a formula that determines a countries ranking. the formula is based on:

life expectancy
education
adult literacy
gross enrollment
gdp

this methodology seems a bit arbitrary, but quantifying elements like ‘quality of healthcare’ as puff mentioned, seems too subjective to be included as a useful part of the methodology. its a decent starting point i suppose.

It’s good as long as we’re listed in Very High Human Development Column :)..

Enshallah we do better.

el7emdillah

I wonder if i can call it “Courtesy”!!

Of course we hope to be in such position and even better,, but still when we compare Kuwait to other countries in GCC .. No Comment!!
