Kuwait is Unhappy

sad

The third World Happiness Report was recently released by the United Nations and Kuwait dropped down the list instead of moving up. Originally when the list came out in 2012, Kuwait was ranked 31 under the list of happy nations. In 2013, Kuwait dropped one place to 32 and now in the third release Kuwait dropped further down to 39.

Not sure what caused the drop, I mean since the 2013 report we’ve had a ton of new burger joints open and Abercrombie & Fitch as well. Everyone should be super happy by now.

Time to GTFO?

lol.

No but seriously. With the way the govt is proposing changes in the residence fees and traffic violations fees etc i doubt anyone will be happy. Papers even reported that locals and gcc residents wont have to pay any medical fees while expats will be charged “about 20% less than private medical centers”

When they started collecting fines for those who didnt update their passports last year, it almost felt like they were proud of them selves that they collected millions of dinars in penalties. “Ohh look at us. we generated millions of kdz out of thin air lulz.”

Then there is that cop who raped and tried to kill that lady or that leaving home without an ID deserves a night in the lockup.

Sheeeet even the chicken here are screwed.

On the flip side I am pretty happy.

I honestly do not agree with this report on happiness. Happiness is so subjective and can’t be measured, you can’t quanitfy happiness.

Your kidding me… Walk down the street and look at people, do anyone smile to you. I noticed this when I travel, when I come back I am like why everyone looks at me with this angry faces.

Service staff is angry, no one smile, except Al Shaya staff.. but they took a course and are forced.

Happiness can be quantified through “Quantitative” analysis methods (i.e. Surveys)…
In addition, there are other “Qualitative” methods to measure it (Interviews, focus groups…etc)…

So to answer you, YES happiness can be measures …

Corruption is on the increase. Nothing is being developed, entertainment is close to zero, everyone thinks they are business men/women and that everyone else is trying to rip them off. I am not surprised.

Happiness may indeed be influenced by external factors, but at it’s core, it’s an internal process. It’s up to you how happy you are to a large extent.

Probably the chickens were unhappy coz they were trapped and that dropped down the index level of happiness in Kuwait

Happiness in Kuwait actually increased by 0.219 points on their scale from 2005-2007 to 2012-2014. See the second table in the report.

Some countries gained more happiness though, and overtook Kuwait.

When you have been in the country for an certain amount of years like myself, going on 12 now. Everyone is like OMG you survived that long. It’s like we expats should have raise and a diploma for every year we long in.

I think its about more than just burger joints and “it” place mark! Look at the ridicules new laws they are creating for expats, which by they are basically saying or finding ways for us to get out ! deporting some1 for having a bbq in public ? and then what happens to the the Kuwaiti who drives all over the road bumping sidewalks running over cats and endangering everyone around him including himself ! … hayati he goes home and sleeps ! Thats seriously disgusting walla!

For almost a decade i am staying here I have never seen any person’s face happy. dont know why some people live here in a tense mood always when you see them.
