Quality of Living in our Region

quality

Mercer’s 2015 Quality of Living rankings was recently released and Kuwait came 4th in our region with UAE, Oman and Qatar coming ahead.

1 – Vienna, Austria
74 – Dubai, UAE
77 – Abu Dhabi, UAE
104 – Muscat, Oman
108 – Doha, Qatar
125 – Kuwait City, Kuwait
130 – Manama, Bahrain
138 – Hyderabad, India
163 – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
166 – Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
170 – Cairo, Egypt
181 – Beirut, Lebanon
203 – Tehran, Iran
230 – Baghdad, Iraq

No surprise really with UAE topping the list or Qatar coming ahead but, I am surprised with Oman just because I’ve heard its a great place for a vacation but a boring place to live.

I have a lot of Indian readers so highlighted their highest ranking city. Also Highlighted the #1 place and last place cities plus Lebanon and Egypt because again I have a lot of readers from there.

Actually Oman is by far not a boring place to live in, I would say that Kuwait is much more boring than Oman. A huge choice of outdoor activities there and amazing places to see, there’s a night life scene, of course it’s nothing like Dubai but still quite alright. Then you also have occasional visits by certain celebrities doing concerts, comedy shows etc. And plenty going on in general so you don’t have much time to be bored, there’s always something to do.

I think the term “boring to live in” really depends on the person saying it and his/her lifestyle.

Speaking of Oman, I can’t comment, Ive never been there.

Hyderabad do have a quality of life. Mark if You like to have the Authantic best quality of Hyderabadi Biryani I can Invite you!

Apart from this new solution in Kuwait to solve the issues what they are facing which is called ” deportation ” , Kuwait would be the best of best places to live.

There is NO country in the world that you will go to where a non Citizen foreigner will not have the possibility of “deportation” over their heads. If you happen to know of one than I suggest you move there.

There are countries that do not deport people on trivial matters. There are countries who actually let the expats version be heard and not their own countrymen, there are nations who actually have bigger hearts. Alas Kuwaits not one of them.

Lets talk some sense.

I give dubai 69, because its filled with prostis

Kuwait i would say it beloew 200.

because only way to get clean air you have to take a plane out.

even in hydrebad you can go to the mountains in the country side.

you prob lost 20-30 years of your life by living in kuwait

The cities on the top of the list have something in common whereas the cities on the bottom have something different in common.

@unboricuaenq8 : Thats true. Frankly speaking if the western countries were to deport based on the same grounds in kuwait. Then i guess air industry in kuwait would become a big loss.

Actually Joe, western countries do deport for trivial matters. In the USA they can deport you for getting a traffic violation. Imagine if they did that in Kuwait and actually applied it. I know many Latinos and Asians who got deported from the USA just for running a stop sign. Just saying, there are worse places to live. If Kuwait was so bad than why are there so many Westerners here. I am not saying that it is perfect or that I did not wish that I could at least have permanent residency but I have lived in worse places.

Actually Oman is a great place to live with lots of activites and things to do especially now with the Royal Opera House. After living in Oman, UAE and Kuwait with occasional flights to Qatar the rankings are relatively correct. The social life is much more open, English is more widespread, dealing with government officals easier, variety of scenary, etc. And its easy to drive up to Dauba or Abu Dhabi for the odd concert or two or weekend lesiure.
