The Embarakiya Floor Lamps

These are just too damn creepy. They’re by Kuwait based Al-Hamad Design:

Each of the lamps features a touch sensor in the hand with three dimmer settings. Shake hands and the lamp will turn on. The men include a built-in-speaker in the torso.

Check them out on the Al-Hamad Design website [Here].

I cant imagine them in my bedroom, sitting room or anywhere! Weird ideabut i am sure it will inspire alot of instagram entrepeneurs to attach lamps to anything, maybe a t-shirt or a pair of shoes!

oh man, that is so scary! i could never have one of those at home. i’d keep thinking it was someone trying to break in.

imagine catching a glimpse of one of these lamps when you’re sneaking into the kitchen for a midnight snack.

It’s missing other features. For example being more robotic. Just like in japan.

Or from an art perspective a bit more creative than a mannequin wearing a headlamp with a certain style.

It’s nice to see kuwaitis manufacturing products but it shows the difference in value of something made in japan or china. This is more for entertainment value than functionality.

I am not sure if there is market for something as limiting in functionality and still limiting in entertaining value.

For example can the mannequin sit? If so can it hold a book, or other devices. Can it do other things that might add to entertainment value in an old fashioned sense, but still be easy to implement and not over complicate parts increasing chance of damage?

Still nice to see, but I am not sure there is a market for this specific product.

Maybe I am being too critical?
