Wataniya Telecom to become Ooredoo

ooredoo

According to an invitation I received, Wataniya will launch the Ooredoo brand tomorrow night at a press event. They’ve already started rebranding their stores in preparation and I expect everyones phones display will start showing Ooredoo starting Thursday morning.

Ooredoo is a brand name that was introduced last year to replace the former name Qtel which is the Qatari telecom that owns Wataniya. Ooredoo currently has 95 million subscribers and they will grow overnight to 97 once Wataniya rebrands.

Yeah ๐Ÿ™‚ and now we all know what this heavily advertised “Project O” means ๐Ÿ™‚

What’s wrong with ‘Wataniya’?

Ooooredoooooooo sounds like a 4-yr old’s nursery rhyme.

Just realized it is nothing buy a couple of Os on either side of RED.

Ooredoo is a Qatari company and a VERY smart company. Kuwait is not the news, Myanmmar is the news. Ooredoo will be one of the first telecom foreign companies to enter this market and Ooredoo is the buzz on the streets of Yangon. It’s a new frontier and for them to enter this market which has been closed for over 50 years to the outside with little infrastructure, so wonder why they stocks improved dramatically lately. So laugh at the name all you want, they will be laughing all the way to the bank!

What were they smoking when they decided on the name ?

As far as myanmar or burma , they could have just launched M-tel or B-Tel or whatever there, and kept things the same here.
Heck, even qtel sounds better.

Imagine going to the baqala and asking for a refill

you — ” Oredoo refill ”

baqala cashier ” inta shinoo yabee ”

you — ” oreedoo ”

baqala cashier ” Inta majnoon nafar … starts to mumble and asks you to leave

I love it. I think that it’s smart, and cool, and definitely much better than “wataniya” or “qtel”.

It does sound like an awful name but we’ve had it in Qatar for about 18 months or so and you do get used to it.

What a stupid move, they’re throwing their name for a silly name JUST to be like Zain. “I want” is “Oredo” or “Oridu” or “Oreedo” .. it is silly. The d in the logo is taken from Beatsbydre. They want to use the word “red”, but because the word red will be lonely, so they added ooo and ooo, it is like a man trying to jump from a wall oooO-_-Oooo.

Terrible! I bet Wataniya/ooredoo/qtel or whatever it’s name is, is going to shut down operations in Kuwait in a few years, a large percentage of Wataniya users have already switched to Zain or Viva and give the remaining customers a few years a they will switch once they realize how good the other two operators are compared to Wataniya. I was a Wataniya customer for a long time and ever since Qtel bought Wataniya it started going south. The telecommunication sector in Kuwait is very dynamic today with Zain and Viva competing to provide the best service (we all know which one is better..) while Wataniya is just sitting there rebranding it’s name/logo. Farewell Wataniya!

Changing the name is not important. ..plz improve ur network system speed.
There is the 4 g internet interdused in a rich country KUWAIT but I m sorry to say its realy a jock..All users r worried about the speed no one about the name….Watniya by name is so Good…Plz improve ur progress. ..

I guess one of the marketing execs must like beats – the “d” is just the beats “b” flipped.

Name has potential but must be prior to your beloved users specially fo all of those users. And some other term that we think (users) or suggest to improve your signal especially to router or any gadgets that we can probably and most of the time we are spending the money for non sense connection and weak services. As a wataniya user, we suggest to more improve your fastest and reliable internet connection so that the customer will treat you also and pamper to improve your business as well.

Kindly improve your progress so that we as a user can suggest this oooredooo to the following customers. They are absolutely right, coz the name you can change anytime but the good service for all user is perfectly right.
