When I was a kid (back in 1992), there were lots of chess tournaments every weekend at the underground shopping center in kuwait city oppositethe KFC. They were mostly filipinos. This continued till I left kuwait in 2003. They had banners up, prizes, and LOTS of people who would just sit and watch the competition. It was hardcore!!!

There’s a Chess Championship in Souq Sharq organized by KNPC dusing this month, don’t know much details though.
Chess is a seriously competitive sport the world over. This game requires extreme concentration and strategic thinking… Good luck to all the players…

Actually, we want to make chess more popular for the Kuwaiti community.

We actually discussed this with jem3yet el mohendeseen and they will let us teach children how to play chess. We are hoping to bring chess to everyone, especailly kids.
We have alot of plans of how to make ourselves more known to our community. We of course, suffer from a lot of buraeucratic problems. Anyways no more headaches.

i dont find ny tournament active here why????? is this such a dumb place where no chess is played, i know kuwaiti ppl are intelligent enough to play this game on bigger n higher level only some push required to make them to play n enjoy so more n more tournament should be organised. Can u send me tournament list which is going to be conducted in 2011. i will be greaful to u Mr Khaled thnks
We just finished a tournament here just recently. Mark, the admin of 248am, even put it on his events list.
