A reader emailed me to tell me that Google sent him a note saying they’ve updated the maps for Kuwait. So I just checked it out now and it turns out its true, the maps did get updated and are now much more sharper than before. Above for example is the latest shot of Kuwait Towers on Google Maps while below is an old shot I had posted on the blog ages ago. As you can see specially from the sea and land edges, the new updated images are very sharp and very clear. But, it looks like their satellite passed over and took pictures in the middle of a dust storm or something since the new shots are all very gloomy and dark. That’s really too bad since on a bright sunny day the shots of Kuwait could have turned out amazing.

I had to break an outside entrance staircase at my house because I was overextending the limit, and I replaced it with a black metal staircase. I did that in October 2010.
I can confidently tell you that Google maps was updated before October 2010, because my old staircase still shows when I check my house via google earth and maps.
To give them credit, the vector streets are properly aligned now.
Google Maps got updated a few days back but the satellite must have taken the shots last year
Thats what I meant, Im sure its not as simple as take some sat pics and upload them.
Still old , my grand parents house got knocked down in 2008, and some new dewaniya and pool was built in 2009 , i only see an empty land
i like the old pic of the towers better
That’s because mark mixed above with below.. The below image is the new one not the above..
no i didn’t.
Kuwait looks Greener
Imagery date: April 2010
(for some shots)
My work-place is still from 2008 though (empty desert land).
I think that the maps were updated only in certain places. For example, Sabah Al-Ahmad city is still not properly shown on the maps, still first phase of the project.
The old ones look better since they’re clearer. I don’t know why in the world they would take satellite pics during a dust storm. lol
It looks like the eagles head in Kuwait’s coat of arms.
