If you’re familiar with Reddit then you should be familiar with IAMA (I Am A/Ask Me Anything). It’s when a person states what they do for a living and then allows people to ask them anything. An American girl going by the nickname GlitterNails posted “I was an “Alcohol Dealer” in a Islamic Country. AMA” and within the comments you quickly find out by Islamic country she meant Kuwait.
It’s an interesting read and if you’ve got the time check it out. Right now it has over 850 comments. [Link]

kill this person!
too late she already moved to the US to continue her studies.
Really? Kill?
What about the supplier? The consumer? There’s no place in the world where someone cannot bootleg. US economy during prohibition was fueled by bootlegging.
Yeah, killing her will surely solve thealcohol problem.
did they ever print in the Arab times who was responsible for the 3500 bottles of booz in a connex owned by the army in the port? they said that the truck driver was arrested, but was it us contracters or us army that was trying to smuggle in the booz? this was a few weeks ago.
well,,one day she will regret of selling alchohol and drugs,,
I don’t think she will ever regret selling alchohol and drugs because from her replies it seems shes bragging about what she did.
She Will Regret It For Sure, Remember Even If Not In This World Then In The Akhira
why should she regret selling alcohol? (she didnt sell drugs) alcohol is as toxic and addictive and life ruining as any other product sold to the public, like soft drinks, ciggs, junk food etc. i dont see any regrets from them selling their products? its up to the consumer to make good choices and decisions not to regret it later.
why should she regret selling alcohol? because it’s against the law of this country knew that before she came here and how do you know she didn’t sell drugs because if she was able to smuggle alcohol then i’d assume she would be able to smuggle other things too and comparing alcohol to soft drinks really? ok then let statistics answer you: worldwide alcohol causes 1.8 million deaths (3.2% of total) and 58.3 million (4% of total) of Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs). Unintentional injuries alone account for about one third of the 1.8 million deaths, while neuro-psychiatric conditions account for close to 40% of the 58.3 million DALYs.
Then you should look up how many deaths obesity causes.
You’re Right obesity cause death in the long run but what does obesity have to do with what we’re talking about different problems different solutions but but at the end my biggest problem whith that women is that she came here to brake the law so shes a criminal and she should be jailed by the way obese are only hurting them themselves.
Ohh GOD, so many grammar mistakes.
You asked what do soft drinks have to do with it. I was just saying that junk food – and in turn obesity, causes plenty of deaths as well.
“Overweight and obesity are the fifth leading risk for global deaths. At least 2.8 million adults die each year as a result of being overweight or obese.” Not to mention all the associated diseases.
However, I don’t disagree that alcohol can also be harmful to others (drunk driving accidents and so on).
“It results in 2.5 million deaths each year.”
excuse me but in OUR country Kuwait we dont want alcohol. not looking at the health hazards I it turns its user from a human to a retarded animal that insults people indiscriminately, hurt people, annoys people, disgust them with their foul smell, throwing their dirty cans and bottles on the streets and killers behind a wheel. thats just to name a few, i study in Australia and i know what im talking about. If you want to drink, do it in your country away from us.
This happens here regardless of alcohol availability, so yeah.
Reddit filled with all kind of criminals who post about there heinous crimes i really don’t understand how come this criminals feel so safe that they could just brag about there crimes in a famous website i once read a post written by a person who basically say he is a big guy and like to rape small women especially when they resist him is that suppose to be free speech.
You’re referring to the recent rapists IAMA? Some of those guys were reported to the police. Reddit isn’t a place for criminals, it’s a place where everyone can choose to post what they want to a certain degree. There have been posts and subreddits closed down because they took things too far or posted things that people generally find wrong.
Search on youtube “reddit the young turk” they are covering this subject and don’t get me wrong i like reddit and i like reading abot people stories but every now and then i read something that just baffles me and make me sick to my stomach and it’s not just about some thing in the past there talking about what they like to do and what they are going to do.
Like I said, when criminals boast about what they do on Reddit they most usually get caught. That rape question is no different. There was a thread about it the next day and it was clarified that the criminals were dealt with.
I don’t know what kind of subreddits you’ve been going on…
This thread about rapists was in r/Askreddit I think.
My point is that is totally biased and one sided. I’ve seen some weird posts (r/WTF anyone?) but I rarely come across criminals who show off about raping others. People make rape jokes so that could be an option. Suppose there WAS a criminal that bragged about his crimes, why is reddit at fault here? There are criminals EVERYWHERE. Either way, I’m pretty sure they’re good at regulating their posts because I don’t see many threatening posts. It’s an open environment where everything is open to discussion, which is nice for a change…
Trust me, you do NOT want to visit 4Chan then.
She over charges a lot for smuggled booze, worst case scenario is just go to Qatar or Bahrain and get it from there.
proply fake
Yeah, proply.
I dunno, it’s proply real in my opnion
Proply isn’t
I think its properly real too
*proply

Rocket propelled properly perpetrated perpetual propbility, purportedly.
After meeting with my old American teacher that got left her job in Kuwait she told me that before she travelled she bought booze from the American base and smuggled it in for some friends
Thank god I live in Dubai now π ! They literally have a Jamayah for Booze here.
Lol. I so envy you. Hopefully will move to Dubai soon. Can’t wait !!
people who know,, know.. that prices mentioned in the article are not correct and much exagerated
This was a very common practice with the US contractors here in Kuwait. They have it shipped in using the APO in plastic juice bottles and it always made it through. In the past few years the APO has become much more strict and it’s more difficult for them to import it that way now.
One of my former employees was caught with 100 bottles (full size) and immediately terminated. Two others are still in jail here in Kuwait for both drug and alcohol sales. And one (female) had even started using her company provided housing as a meth lab — last I heard she’s also still in jail here in Kuwait.
Sadly these contractors come over here making more money than they ever have before and they get greedy. They think they’re above the law and fail to respect the laws of their host country.
A meth lab? Wow. That’s pretty hardcore. I once saw a card with a sticker that said “CrYsTaL MeTh” but I’m not sure if the person driving knew what they were advertising.
Meth’s not that hard to make. But you need to be quite experienced because it can lead to potential burns and even small explosions if not done correctly.
P.S I just watch a lot of documentaries. I’m no druggie or anything.
Oi, don’t exploit this person!
So she sold alcohol in Kuwait. Whats the big deal?
There’s a huge market for it so obviously she is not the problem. Just like any good entrepreneur, she realized a need, and she fulfilled it.
Drop it guys. Mind your own business. I dont understand this Kuwaiti mentality. Especially the guy that wants her killed. Seriously? Kill her for selling alcohol? And you call HER a criminal? This is so sad. I cant believe what we have come to. Even if you’re religious, why would you want her killed? Judgement should be in the hands of God.
Grow up people.
i dont support her getting killed but for say if my friend died of say a drunk driver. who got that bottle off of her. i would protest and demand of her to get hanged along with the person who was drinking. Alcohol ruins lives and countries. we dont want it in our country. we Respect your countries so its best to respect ours.
I’m a Kuwaiti and I totally support this girl..
Alot of you people on here are up set that this person is on a public blog site talking about all the illegal activities that she did while living in Kuwait? Where were you people when the pot grower/ how-to-teacher was interviewed by the newspaper? that person is still here along with all of his clients and fellow herbalists! But even this guy doesn’t need to be killed! Killing someone over selling alcohol and marajuana is a little over the top! Jail time till deportation is should be the worst punishment. Also banned from the Middle East entirely for the people selling everything but alcohol!
First of all which expat could purchase a bottle for 150 kd as per her comment. Most of the expat salary happens to be around that mark.
The point is not about what she was selling, the point is she was breaking the law. Even if you think it’s a stupid law, you are breaking the law and you must not object to punishment for it. Since you are living in this country you have agreed to abide and respect it’s laws, like any civilized person would do in ANY country.
Unfortunately a lot of Americans here think they are above the law and that they are protected by their country if they commit crimes such as this one.
Guess what else is against the law here in Kuwait ? Speeding, driving through red lights, throwing trash on the floor, smoking in malls, beating your maids, and I could go on and on. Doesnt look like thats stopping anyone from doing all those things…..Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis
You care comparing crimes that are punished by a fine with a crime that is punished by years of imprisonmen?
U go through a red light or speed above 180 and thats not a fine, its a suspended license and car impounded. Plus going through a red light or speeding can kill other innocent people and guess what hundreds of innocent people die every year because of it. Last I checked no one in Kuwait has drank themselves to death
Read this blog, she was not a big time dealer. She was a dependent who I agree with the NES students that were questioning her, she went to ASK and she is in her freshman year in college in Texas. A dealer, yes, and some of things she states in her answers are things I have heard living here and I think for the most part, she was being up front about all the hypocrisy’s of this nation. I have never seen a country in my life, that needed to legalize liquor in some form than this one. To keep running underground at such widespread levels in dangerous for the society.
Who do you blame? The criminal, or the system?
In order for criminals to thrive, the demand has to be there. Both citizens and foreigners alike have high demand for alcohol, and let’s face it, it’s good business (you buy them for more than ten times what they cost outside Kuwait).
High risk, high reward.
So before you go all out asking this lady to be killed (although she did break the law), look into the REASON she did it.
Then again, it used to be legal. That makes it even tougher and more of a demanded product.
Bottom line – People want what they can’t have.
In all honesty, if Kuwait legalizes Alcohol again, will be one of the BEST countries to live in.
I’m not saying this because of alcohol but think about it,
Kuwait can regulate it and get shitloads of cash from the tax on all the bars and clubs that would open there
+ standard of living / Salary in Kuwait is already really good.
+ It will prevent smuggling and bootlegging altogether.
+ Influx of tourist and people = boom of the real estate market.
There you have it, it would be one of the best places in the world for shopping, food, partying and living.
This isn’t a question about religion or going against a culture, this is about having a security after the Oil runs out and Goodwill of the residents.
Kuwait follows islamic law in trade …. Sale of alcohol is forbidden and is considered dirty money like drug money
So all banks in Kuwait handle dirty money? In Islam, interest is forbidden and haram. That doesn’t stop people from allowing banks to be setup who give out loans with interest. Anyone using a credit card or a loan is being charged interest so you’re directly supporting haram activities.
In Islam it’s haram to do harm to your body, and yet the country has over 40% obesity rate. Also people smoke here.
In Islam it’s haram to get a divorce, and yet there’s 30% divorce rate in Kuwait.
I could go on and on and on. My point is before quickly pointing out it’s “haram,” look at your own society and how many things people are doing haram.
divorce is not haram.
Divorce isn’t haram.
One of our islamic laws that kuwait actually follows statesthat the sale of alcoholis strictly forbidden , the money you make from selling it is considered dirty money (like drug money) and its haram , as most kuwaitis are muslim they wouldnt like the idea of the gov spending money earned from alcohol on improving the country. They would rather not have the immoral money. I myself think its correctyou might think elsewise butthats just the way itis here . Hope this clearsthings up π
I agree with Ahmad, Also if it was legalized, Kuwait would be like Bahrain, filled with people ‘arabs’ coming over to drink. We are better off the way we are π
its against our religion, culture and our morals. do you think were dumb? ofcourse alcohol brings money but money isnt everything
Kuwait is a muslim country and islam does not permit alcohol. Religion comes before money and when u die remember that u dont take a penny so why think always about money.
Most kuwaitis who have been here before the oil don’t actually want alcohol , people in soor (old kuwait) had access to alcohol but you’d rarely find someone drinking it. We are looked upon as the original kuwaiti society nowadays and we don’t want alcohol. If we did we could have easily elected parliment members and got it legallized cause we are the only ones allowed to vote, but we didnt , why ? Because we don’t want it. End of story
Ok, just because it’s legal it doesn’t mean you HAVE TO drink it. People like orange juice, some people don’t. Some people smoke, some people don’t. Just because it is legal it does not mean the product is enforced on you. It is only enforced to those who like the product. And don’t bring politics into this, everybody knows the voting system is corrupted.
What I’m trying to say is the original Kuwaitis don’t want alcohol, it’s more or less their country and they can do whatever the hell they want with it as long as it is not harmful to anyone else. That’s how it works here.
So did you go around and give every Kuwaiti a survey and got your stats that officially the ‘original kuwaiti does not want alcohol’? Hm. There is NO bigger alcohol business in the middle east that can out top Kuwait, I don’t think that tells me Kuwaitis don’t demand alcohol.
But sure. Yeah, I guess I can agree with you in terms of doing whatever they want without harming others. Like drinking.
To be fair if they really wanted then you would see mr. Nabeel al fathel who suggested legalizing it at the top of the elections not 8th ..To put and end to this , imagine alcohol being allowed in kuwait …. Whats next more saudi / iraqi lunatics comming to kuwait like bahrain ? No thanks we already have enough idiots around here.
Once the oil runs out EVERYONE’S opinion will change about allowing alcohol in Kuwait.
We had the same opinion even before the oil
How can you get a couple of bottles through the Q8 airport, when flying in?
