Yesterday I got a very detailed presentation on the new airport terminal that’s being constructed along with a site visit (you can check my story on instagram @mark248am). There is a lot of information I need to figure out how to condense into a post, but for now, I wanted to share the slide above.
If you’re wondering how large the new terminal will be, the picture above is a comparison of T2 next to The Avenues.

Looks like this is finally gonna solve their overcrowding issue at the current terminal. Lots of walking anticipated, much like T2 at Mumbai, or Hamad Intl at Doha. Would be interesting to see the final floor plan and how close or how far things are to each other.
Actually, I’ll be talking about this in more detail in my post on T2 but basically, because of the way the airport is shaped, there isn’t a lot of walking. From the entrance to the dead center of the airport is around 150m. The furthest you’d ever have to walk is 600m.
That sounds like really good planning, surprising for this place lmao. Looking forward to the details
We’re gonna finally have a decent airport. Hopefully Incheon corporation runs this terminal as well.
Incheon airport SUCKS!
Whaaaaaat??
Hong Kong airport is 10x better (and more efficient) than Incheon.
Sadly I think DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) will be running the terminal, same guys behind our current airport.
i do believe given the chance and if managed wisely they will be up to the task
Incheon is running the new Terminal 4 that is built for Kuwait Airways flights
will avenues be connected to terminal 2?
yes via a tunnel system
With a monorail…..
I can see a lot of delayed flights as people would still be doing last minute shopping at Avenues before boarding!
i cautiously believe you
Yes via hyperloop
The design / function is all good and fancy shmancy. If only educated and decent staff will run the airport so we don’t have to worry anything about.
Looks liked Alrai wearing underwear
How old are you 12?
Ok so the design is cutting edge and the structural features are spectacular especially the 60 meters cantilever.yet for so many the top view of the airport is being candidly compared to underwear. Chill
12 is the number of years I’ve been folllowing this blog
I’d imagine only teenagers and immature adults are comparing an airport building to underwear.
Well, I’ll just say there is a Lebanese architect (behind the team who designed the showbiZ proposal in salmiya, who later teamed with SSH ) can’t recall his name, he prepared an entire presentation 2 or 3 years ago comparing buildings in Kuwait to ice cream, pants and other silly things, he was so immature.
If you say so
I was there. I remember his presentation. He moved back to Lebanon recently with his girlfriend they used to do Karaoke at that place near Slider Station.
i’m just glad someone finally had the courage to say so
(i was absolutely talking about the underwear reference)
Mark, time for that chill pill. It is funny 😁
On another note, DGCA will run this, we’ll have people in family hordes walking around with poppers to welcome people. Grumpy personnel talking down expats and especially the poor maids. Nothings going to change. I hope they get in help from countries with experience.
Any insights into the new Kuwait Airways terminal? A colleague visited and was impressed by the interior setup and materials.
If the new terminal runs like the current its just a wast of money. The current authorities need to fire all the Government workers and hire/rehire those who qualify. Train them to act professional now before you build a new terminal or it will turn out just like the current but with new paint.
