A reader posted the following story in the community forum and I figured I would share it here as is:
It was a routine day with a regular issue “I didn’t receive my registered mail”. I bought an item and that was shipping via registered mail from Singapore; status is showing that it has reached Kuwait on 10th of March and today was 24-March-2015.
During this gap from 10 to 24, I’ve been to Kaifan Central Post Office, Abu Halifa post office, KOC post office Ahmadi and Ahmadi Post office 3 Times.
Long story short either I was told to go to my area post office which is Ahmadi or simply “Maa Fi” and waived away. During my 3 visits to Ahmadi post office; I heard it a lot “Maa Fi” and few times that it didn’t came.
Luckily one day I was surfing net for any possible help or solution, I came to Ministry of Communication “Postal Sector” Site; on that page is a picture of Asst. Undersecretary and link to the site which is in Arabic and contains some basic info.
Site: https://moc.kw/English/post.html
Randomly I sent a text to Asst. undersecretary Engineer Meiagib Nasser Al-Dossary, and after 45 minutes I got a mobile call from Airport Post office, that guy asked my tracking number and found it in less than two minutes saying that “We received it back from your area Post Office” and you will receive it after 2 days from your own area.
I didn’t almost believed that, kind of shock that a mail I’m searching can be found so easily. I got a call from another guy and asked me same details and asked about problems I faced at area Post Office. I told him that they have found it at airport “returned”.
I believe all thanks to Mr. Meiagib Nasser Al-Dossary (Asst. Undersecretary). After those two calls, I got a call from him “sorry for delay and in future if I need any postal help I can contact him”; that felt very nice.
To check that further, I spread the word out of this help and asked my friends (who are also waiting for their registered mail) to contact him and results was again the same. He was helpful and guided them to write person.
I believe Mr. Meiagib is kind enough to let anyone contact him for help and solve the issues.
It surely can be one of the good things in Kuwait. I hope anyone get help from this incident.
I have a package that I need to pick up this week from the post office, should be routine but we’ll see how it goes.

That photo looked very familiar till I remembered where it came from. Thanks for posting this Mark. I’d given up on getting my package but now after seeing this post I’ll contact Meiagib Nasser Al-Dossary and try my luck.

Just for the record I went to various post offices about 10 times to be sent back empty handed. The only reason I gave up was that I can’t afford to miss work just to collect mail.
BEST post ever. In a long time.
whoever deserves this , got it.
you can delete the post now. lolz
wonderful post.
It’s great that the assistant undersecretary is helping out, though receiving mail shouldn’t be contingent on contacting an assistant undersecretary.
+1
Thanks Mark,
I have lost so many of my packages here (never received them even by registered post), this will help me in the future. I wonder if I could get a post which is one year old?
Spent a lot of time running between post offices too.
Hi,
Good to see my post on your site’s front page… and More glad that its helping people…
Regards,
M. Ahsan Bhutta
That “write person” should be “right person” 🙂
Never thought to share my story, just 2 weeks ago, I spent 5 hours tracking down a package of mine that went missing. First, about the 10th trip to my local post office where my PO Box is – they suggested going to Kaifan. Wentto Kaifan, they looked at the tracking number and told me to go to the airport cargo. Went to theairport cargo area – after being sentto 3 different places (not speaking Arabic, I think they were just pointing to make me someone else’s problem). Finally, I found a guy that supposedly would find it. He took my ttacking number and just handed it to another guy who disappeared for about 30 minutes, to return with a printout that says the package IS AT MY POST OFFICE!
So I trekked back to my postoffice about 12:45, to find that almost everyone left already, despite the posted hours being jntil 1:00pm. I made a stink that the sign says 1pm, and I hadbeen sent away just that morning, dragged my 4 year old all over the bowels of the Kuwait postal system, to be told that my package IS HERE! He lady went and got the manager, who finally let us sit in her office and she went with a random worker dude to go find it. About 1:15, she walked in with my package! A few minutes of recording information, taking my civil ID number, and signature, and I was fi ally on my way, on March 10, with my package that had been shipped Dec 6, and initially stamped that it arrived in Kuwait Dec 27, and had been stamped that it was received at my post office on February 8.

My 4 year old was only happy that just about every place we went, someone gave him chocolate.
‘His English is sucks.’ : D….’Just Kidddinggg.’
I’m surprised about how rampant this is and no one is taking action. I had a case where several years back my D7000 never got to me. I just claimed insurance and got my refund. But I can’t think of the number of items which are going ‘missing’ every day and curious about what happens to these ‘lost’ items
@joj: “Right Person” is right…!
@KK284: its not “His English is Sucks”…. its “His English Sucks”
Only if they keep one operator who will just log the tracking numbers of all the posts; will save lot of time for everyone.
It’s such a shame the postal system here is atrocious- Lets face it, postal systems are not a new thing.
Mail is so important yet it’s treated with such carelessness.
I was at the airport sorting center and the mail was being hand sorted by the chai boy who just was tossing the bundles of mail in the general direction of the great big mail bags without a care in the world while a dozen others were standing around chatting and the dishdasha guys were chilling out behind closed doors. It’s another Kuwaiti system that has a nice facade, but no actual SUBSTANCE.
If the Kuwait postal system was completely cleaned out, modernized slightly, properly supervised and had postal vans or postal scooter dudes- We’d use the hell out of it an Kuwait might just edge itself into the 1980’s.
Honestly, how can you not have a functioning and efficient mail system? This is not a new thing, Kuwait has no problems that many many other cities have had, (and conquered,) in the past. Come on guys…
Unfortunately, back in 2008, the post mail service costed me to lose my immigration application to Canada. Simply i didn’t receive their (Canadian Gov) request letter to update my personal info, i checked daily for 3 weeks in Surra post office & couldn’t find it. After 3 months, i did receive something which is the 2nd package! A letter stating that since i didn’t reply to their request (1st package) within 90 days, my application been void & i may NOT renew it.
My story is not much different
But I was surprised when I lost hope of finding my wallet forgotten that in my visit to London after the period had found someone who works at the airport I think his name is Khaled only one who was able to find my wallet with my money and frankly I am very grateful for the presence of that person. And very sad because I did not find help from the any other and could not understand one of my other all thanks to you, dear Khaled
Whoever has an issue with the Kuwaiti Post either receiving or sending could go to Qortoba Post office with a written complaint about the situation and hand it to the Assistant Undersecretary of the Postal Sector, also make sure to make a copy of this complaint and have it signed by the person who takes your original complaint letter from you and keep the signed copy for your records as a proof.
These people should know about the problems that everyone is facing and they are known of avoiding the correct procedures. They do not give receipts to people so you do not have any proof of your complaint.
When they tell you that they will call you which will not happen tell them “when can i come back for a feedback”, and try to go back to them at least once a week if not twice just to show them that this is important.
The post office in Kuwait is run by unprofessional employees when compared by private companies’ or overseas Post Offices.
The sorting center in Located at 2 places
1 – The Airport
2- Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh (transit between the airport and the Post offices) where sometimes things mysteriously disappear!
What is happening with the postal service here in Kuwait is not normal. No one should wait for mail to depart kuwait after 2 weeks and in many cases in 1 month. Why would they leave the mail here for one month?
and why should you wait for your mail to get to you after 1 week and in many cases after 1 month when it has already arrived to the sorting center in the Airport.
recently the exported mail to the US has been held at the airport since mid march 2018 and still being held to this day June 13 2018. Tons of mail is at the sorting center. And the officials still deal with this a s if there is no problem! WHY? because people think that this is normal with the retarded post services that we get here and the complaints are not reaching the right officials. They small employees sometimes block your complaints so they do not look bad and in some cases get dispositioned from their golden seats that they sometimes got in the first place by wasta!
YOU NEED TO COMPLAIN TO BE HEARD!
THIS MESS HAS TO STOP!
People need to have their complaints heard not only by social media but officials in courts and ministries.
This post has been written in June 2018 and the issue will be the same for the next hundred years if no one takes a step to really stop this corruption!
