My phone is off for you

Although the project sounds cool there is no way I think I could switch my phone off or ignore it while I am out having a meal. During lunch and dinner I actually enjoy catching up on emails on my iPhone and the messages and pictures from our diwaniya BBM group on my Blackberry. [Link]

I wonder how your lunch/dinner companion(s) feel

I think it just depends on the country in which you live. In the States, I consider it a bit rude if you are on the phone at the table not only for a table mate but also fellow diner’s around you.

In Kuwait, however, it seems to be a little more acceptable to take calls or scroll thru emails, chat, or surf the web.

in kuwait people are chatting on their blackberry drinking, eating, driving, talking to other people, paying money at the super market, and most importantly when taking a shit lolzzz

If I’m having lunch or dinner alone, that won’t be a problem but if I’m with someone I would prefere to involve myself in a more important conversation and socialize rather than keeping my eyes on my phone. The same way you expect people to give you their attention while you’re talking they want it in return otherwise it’s sooo rude!

I always thought of this, but I never said it loud.. Being a gentelman, I always keep my cell on silent mode…

again “My phone is OFF for You…! “

this is a habit that drove me nuts when i lived in MENA.. totally rude to be ignoring your dinner/lunch/drink friends, in case someone more interesting comes along or god help you might miss a missed call.

if we’re out spending time together, then pay attention to what i have to say.. or don’t bother turning up again..
