A few people have emailed me regarding what looks to be a new telecom operator in Kuwait called Xtra. I noticed a few of their outdoor adverts near Avenues and I checked their website and there really isn’t much information there. I don’t think it’s a new telecom operator because we would have heard a lot more about it in the press, but I also can’t figure out what they are.
Based on their website, the prepaid card costs KD5 and it allows you to talk unlimited local calls a day once you spend 300fils that day. It also comes with 3GB internet and unlimited access to social media applications. Here is a link to their [Website]

It is Zain’s sub product.
You can confirm this by using it, uses their network.
Also, they used to have a product called “extra” in the past. Maybe it is a revamp.
It’s definitely not a zain sub product or else it would be branded zain. But like muscati mentioned they might have purchased bandwidth in bulk from zain and are reselling it
When it first launched, their google ads were titled ‘Zain Kuwait’. Leads me to believe that they created their own mvno.
I saw the billboards as well. I assume Kuwait is about to get its first MVNO- a mobile reseller that buys bandwidth in bulk from existing networks and resells it, and not an actual new network. Oman already has 3 for the past 5 years and Saudi Arabia started licensing them last year.

It’s a new Prepaid Sim from Zain. I called there number and got it confirmed. To avail those services you need to buy a new xTra Sim. Which is prepaid in nature.
I see that they are already breaking net neutrality on launch by offering “FREE access to multiple applications including: WhatsApp, Facebook and Viber”. Sadly people are not going to complain when its free.
Tried to contact them via phone = no answer
Contacted them via FB, and they informed to just go to any ” local ” shop to buy an xtra line and I did that and sadly the local shop was like what is xtra ?
Let it be free ” whats app ” ” Viber ” ” Facebook ” what’s the speed of this service?
Also via kinda have the same offer offer with it’s free social media when you sub to their internet service

– Why pay 300fills per day for unlimited calls? (Btw. it is NOT a Zain sub-service they collaborated with Zain) If 5KD gives you 3GBs and an access to unlimited WhatsApp and Viber usage (which is basically free messaging and calls for a month)..and what is Facebook? Does that still exist? Gives us free Youtube or perhaps Instagram or Snapchat NOT Facebook!
– To clarify you only get unlimited calls to Xtra and Zain lines while only 5 hours worth of free call to Viva and Oreedoo.
– For the speed of the internet guys! Its 4G-LTE and no not 4G-Advance 🙂
