Student-Talk Vs Bloggers

Seems the local magazine Student-Talk doesn’t think too highly of us bloggers. K.TheKuwaiti has a couple of interesting posts regarding Student-Talk including the emails they sent him in reply to his original post. After reading their emails it kinda makes me appreciate Bazaar just a bit more.

as a magazine editor – and at one time publisher – I’ve cut and paste and plagiarised a million times. it’s what magazines do. *how well* you do it makes a difference… and also how you react to criticism (if there is any) about it just shows a lack of faith in your convictions for doing what you’re doing.

Magazine is supposed to credit the original author, if not!!!!!!? Why then there is an AP (associated press) style book!!!!!

She knows what she did was wrong but she is brushing it off as if nothing happened.

I recommend bombarding Al-Shaya’a to remove the magazine from starbucks and that would be extremely damaging!

Thats why foreign magazines sell a lot more than local ones (english), but such magazines don’t care they are purely in it for a quick buck.

Bazaar is the only one with good content, they just need better page designs, fonts and layouts to give it a more unique identifiable look.

Moocherx,
I’m shocked that as a magazine editor you admit to plagiarism and actually think it’s ok! Where is our sense of originality? Why did you start or join a magazine to begin with? Was it not to have an outlet for your literary creativity? Did you not have something to say that you wanted people to hear? Or did you just want to see your name in print? If it’s the latter, then you’re in it for the wrong reasons, my friend. Passing someone else’s work off as your own is not cool, and you’re cheating your readers of original material. Simply put, if you can’t write it yourself, don’t write it at all.

moocherx: Thats another lame one. Reduce your content to 80 pages but get original ones. If its AD money then increase your prices. But I guess the collective lot of publishers in Kwt [sorry only pointing to plagiarisers] would never agree with my views

moocherx: that’s not cool. Why would you start a magazine if you were just going to steal other people’s stuff to fill it? You got one bit right – get the best writers in the country…but the rest of your argument is wrong.

moocherx: pathetic attempt tp defend them…what you said stinks!

marzouk: i think getting them out of starbucks is a great idea but what about the other even worse magazine called campus cruise? thats pure garbage…

All of you should stop this nonsence, if your going to write a magazine make sure it’s your words and not someone elses, its that simple.
