Way to go Animal Friends League of Kuwait

(IMAGE REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF AFL)

Today morning Rayboy posted in the forum on how while walking his dog in a public park he found a dalmatian dog that was locked up in a small cage all alone and freezing to death. Once he got home he called both PAWs and the Animal Friends League of Kuwait (AFL) to get some help.

The AFL ended up organizing a “Seek and Rescue” party later in the day. Their mission was to see the state of the dog and if possible contact the owners. If the owners were not found and the dog was in bad shape, they would then break the lock and take the dog.

The AFL arrived at the location and found that the dog was in really bad condition. After desperately trying to find the owners they took the decision to break the lock and free the dog. They then took the dalmatian to their animal shelter in Wafra where the dog is now being taken care of.

I think thats just an amazing story. To have a group like the AFL here in Kuwait who actually take action when an animal is being abused is really amazing. I really hate people who get pets but then end up treating them like shit. Locking up a beautiful dog like the dalmatian in a public garden in this weather in a small cage is just horrible. I imagine the dog would have remained in the cage even during the summer. Thank you AFL for freeing the dalmatian.

If anyone would like to find out more about the AFL, donate to the AFL or even adopt one of their pets then you can visit their website animalfriendskuwait.org

it is a good story but i agree with fonzy. i know there are too many stray cats but when will they be rescued? i found a small dead cat in front of my house a couple of days ago, probably died from cold and starvation πŸ™

Thanks Mark , for posting this in the front page, atleast people can see the cruelty out there….

About cats… people are trying to rescue them, but they are just too many…. … my neighbours ( people living in the same building) feed about 15 cats around here…

What a sad story! I love dogs and cats. I’m so glad they rescued this poor dog. The Kuwaiti authorities should track down the “owner” of the dog and imprison and fine them for cruelty to animals!

Paws should learn a thing or two. They didnt even pick up the phone. Its the 3rd time that the number has been unreachable when they were needed.

Good work AFL, and good work Rayboy for acting on it. Too many of us dont go beyond feeling sorry for the animal when we see it πŸ™

PAWS has been useless for a while now, but it looks like AFL is the real deal. what a waste of a gorgeous creature.

the situation with stray cats is a bit different. there are stray animals everywhere just like there are bums on the street, they are not being locked up and tortured like this which is an actual abuse case.

I called PAWS once to tell them about a dog who was lost and looked injured, laying down in the median between two streets. They said there wasn’t anyone in the area. I said he would certainly get hit by a car and I had my kids with me so I couldn’t grab him and take him myself. They didn’t do anything about it.

I’m glad to here there’s another group out there who can help.

the very name “stray cats ” says it all , they are survivors but this poor dog even if let loose will not survive the harsh environment.good job by rayboy and AFL. Bravo!!

Rayboy you did a wonderful thing. So many people would have sympathized yet done nothing about it.

And bravo to the AFL for doing a great job.

So many times people buy pedigree cats or dogs and once they realize they cannot take care of them just let them out in the street to starve.

A pet is for life not just when it is cute and tiny and furry.

Great Job AFL / Rayboy.

Dog abuse is very prevalent in the Middle East. Like Jewaira says, a dog is a commitment for a minimum of 10 years….

Sad story with a happy ending.

Have had horrible experiences with Paws – but only have praise for AFL. They truely do what they say they do and really deserve all the support that they can get. Their facilities are like no other in kuwait – world class.

PAWS is a tad weird in my humble opinion.
I sent them an email once to ask how to give them a donation.
I am selling my pictures as cards here in Kuwait and part of that profit was planned to go to PAWS, because they picked up a stray dog and stray baby kittens I found and helped out another one I brought to the Vet in Shuweikh. By now I don’t even want to think what might have become of those animals. I never got an answer on my request (after a very quick response on my first inquiry about th dog).
AFL is a whole different story.
They gladly take my money and show me and explain what they do with it.
They even helped me out with boarding my dogs πŸ™‚
But that’s another story πŸ˜‰

And I agree with South African – the AFL facilities are great!

Me and my family are living kuwait .
anyone knows where i could find a shelter in kuwait or a family to adopt 2 cats?
thanks

Yeah, PAWS hasn’t done anything for me either. I gave them an adoption form about a month ago and no answer. I then proceeded to give at least 4 or 3 emails asking about if we could visit the shelter and if the cats we wanted were simply litterbox trained. No answer! I haven’t heard of any bad experiences with PAWS but they ARE being pretty useless right now. One would think they would answer an email requesting an adoption right away! Also, I don’t get why they won’t let anyone in without appointment… Anyways, I’m getting a cat from AFL. And guess what: when I called, someone ACTUALLY answered!

Thank you so much for your support. We can’t do what we do without the support of people like you.

We do try very hard to answer every phone call and email that we receive. If you did not receive a satisfactory response, please let us know! We don’t mean to miss anyone, sometimes a call or email just slips through the cracks. Please call or write again!

Animal Friends does not openly support the theft of any animal, even from a bad owner. If an Animal Friends staff member or volunteer stole an animal in our name, they did not do so on our behalf as that violates our policy on animal theft. We have had great success in recent months convincing owners to surrender animals to us rather than allowing them to continue suffering. Animal Friends officially condemns the theft of animals, even though we love seeing an end to any animals’ suffering.
