Not to be confused with the metro project, the rail project is designed to connect Kuwait with the rest of the GCC via rail. Once the project is completed you’ll be able to take the train from Kuwait City all the way to Oman. The first phase of the project will connect Kuwait City to Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
Although there is no relationship between the two, I’m sure everyone here would rather they began work on the far more interesting and useful metro project (pictured on top). [Link]

I was thinking the same thing why can they just go ahead and create a central rail network that incorporates the metro within it. I’m sure the city planners can come up with main central station which can accommodate both domestic and international traffic.
But, the metro doesn’t seem like it will be useful for those with money, so what makes you think it will ever be built?
It gets all the poor people off the roads so that this with money can drive around with less traffic

The poor people can barely get ON the road in Kuwait, we are talking about the truly poor.
What this will provide is mobility for those who can’t afford a car/license/don’t meet the racist requirements/etc and this will be an issue for people in Kuwait who would rather act like these people don’t exist.
Of course, I think it’s great, if it ever gets built (it won’t, but Kuwait might get another restaurant plaza!).

It’s extremely ridiculous, let alone being a misleading statement, that appointing “… a technical consultant for Phase 1 in the third quarter of this year.” is considered a start of the project!

To everyone pitching “Trains will be obsolete”
1) A Hyperloop is a marketing term for a train stop falling for it
2) There is no working public Hyperloop today
3) Elon Musk is a fraud
4) Stop idolizing billionaires
1) Hyperloop is a a pod that travels in a vacuum tube while levitating, and is potentially a faster mode of transport than airplanes for some distances. So no, it’s not just a marketing term for a train
2) There is a small working prototype developed by hyperloop-one and they’re on track to building a full fledged one
3) Uh what is your point here? FYI there are several other companies working on a hyperloop now, not just Elon musk (look up Virgin Hyperloop-One)
4) Who is idolizing billionaires?
