I noticed a lot of readers want internet speeds similar to that of the US and Europe. Well personally I would settle for a connection speed similar to what our neighbors Qatar will be getting this year… 100Mbps. [Link]
Thanks Lunar

that will NEVER happen here. most of our lines handle up to 4MB max. and i think they will charge you 782739303KD per year for it. with limits of course.
Who cares about speed right now if they are setting caps of 2GB.
Exactly. Now, getting the lowest possible speed is the best. Unless one is considering the upload then thats another issue.
these idiots cant even deliver quality services with 1,2,4 etc mbps connections thanks to their fair use policy and caps on downloading! 100 mbps is a far fetched dream
+1,
If we ever get 100mbps, the data will be capped at 100mb LOL
lol
hahaha i love this comment!
lmfao..
Mark.. try implementing a +1 button over here 😛 ..
The Best “Our Idiots” can do is:
-Get 100Mbps (but policy is to remove a “0”.
-Price of 350KD per year (but policy is to add a”0″
-You get to Download the whole Internet (But!, Yes! Policy is to download 2GB a day)
:@
well said 😀
I bet Qataris are doing it intentionally just to rub it on our face.
omg..haha
Zain KW, is launching the LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is last step toward the 4G.
It will offer 100MBps speeds.
All the telcom guys have monthly limits of 2-10 GB which is an absolute joke
VIVA doesn’t have any monthly limit.
Kuwait can get the fastest and most advanced internet cables and satellites and have their own service instead of getting it from other countries with a cheap underwater cable that has to cut off every month!!
but we must do something about it, like a demonstration or something lol
Up for a peaceful demonstration on an approved area by MOI.
Something successful would be to boycott internet providers, even for a whole month only, but with most people having year long contracts, as well as the fact that a lot of people won’t participate, this won’t happen.
Which is a shame, because if they lose enough revenue they will wise up.
The national assembly is the reason we don’t have that! governments removed and grilled before getting a chance of doing anything so many cool projects shelved because o them 🙁
The head of national assembly and his niece (?) are the owners of Qualitynet and Fasttelco (not sure though which belongs to who of them).
correction, nephew…
Qatar Get 100mps and we are stuck in the stone age .. fighting not getting our a** capped
Qatar doing the right things the moment they got the FIFA WC 2022. Well done neighbors!
theoretically (AFAIK), we should be able to get 100mbps up /down with fiberoptics here in Kuwait in new the new suburbs. if Qatar could reach this speed I fail to see why we couldn’t, since we share the same underwater internet cable.
Wrong tittle its Mbps not Mpbs
good catch just fixed it
😛
It’s really a shame what’s happening to the Internet in Kuwait.. They think that the increased bandwidth is from users abusing the illegal downloads what they don’t know it’s from the increase of iPhones/iPads and Smartphones.
Today there are thousands who have smartphones and of those people some are avid game/app players hence they download apps from iTunes, and not to mention the updates. I personally have a couple of games and apps that are over 500MB in size actually 5 of them are 1GB and above! And they release updates everyonce in a while it’s a shame I can’t update them without breaking the internet for the house :/ Not to mention sharing the stupid Qualitynet connection with a bunch of computers at home.
What is the world coming down to :/
We are facing the same problem in Canada. Greedy companies are trying to let the user pay more if he downloads more though at there end, they are not really paying anything extra.

Saudi telecom introduces 100Mbps fiber optic for 36 Kd a month UNLIMITED downloads..
