The Internet

I always forget how terrible the Internet is in Lebanon until I get here and then I either want to throw my laptop out the window or save myself from this misery and jump out myself. I can’t live like this!

Update: Ran a SpeedTest and ended up with the results above

Imagine you have a dial up connection that’s being shared by 10 users. That’s how slow my connection feels. It’s like a 256kb DSL but it’s not giving me anything close to 256kb.

Just ran a speed test and got the following

Ping: 534ms
Download: 0.17Mb/s
Upload: 0.05Mb/s

I dunno what kind of connection you have set up, but when i wnet there to visit my family they had 256KB thats better than my 512KB in kuwait ….

Yeah – I know how that feels.
My VIVA Mi-Fi does worse than that. In Block 10 Bayan it goes dead with a loss of signal
The line drops even in the center of the city are frequent and unavoidable.
A tough way to live especially if the land line is not a reliable option .
I wish VIVA would put up more towers especially in Mishref / Bayan.

How come it says that your server is in New York? Are you using a VPN? maybe thats what is slowing down your connection!

I always test my connection with a New York server. It’s pretty pointless checking it with a local server or regional server since majority of the websites are hosted in the US.

The internet in Lebanon has been and will always be a huge problem, I’m a student there and trust me i know how you feel. I recommend going to the restaurant B2B (Breakfast to Breakfast), they have good food, are open 24 hours a day and have a decent internet connection.
