‘World’s Slowest Internet’ – Lebanon

BBC recently did a report on the internet speed in Lebanon and watching should give you an idea of why I fall in love with Kuwait’s internet every time I get back from a trip. [YouTube]

So are they really trying to upgrade the internet and reduce prices as they say in the interviews? Or it’s all a big BS?

Of course as a Lebanese, my response to the BBC is: “OH YEAH? YOU CAN DRIVE IN 30 MINUTES FROM THE BEACH TO THE MOUNTAINS IN LEBANON! CAN YOU DO THAT IN YOUR CRAP COUNTRY?!”

hehe Lebanon is way behind, but everyone thinks about is partying/clubbing even though the economy is crap. I didn’t go this year… hope to return when things get better.

The organization pays 1200$/month for 1mb?
If my math is correct, they are paying over $15,000 for 1mb/yr that we in Kuwait pay 300$/yr. That’s (without exaggeration) 50x more expensive!!! S##T!

As a Lebanese, i say…. **** our government that can’t do anything for OUR benefit.

It has to be THEM that benefits first before we get anything.

Internet is a prime example. It took BIG businesses complaining before the so called government decides, lets get faster internet.

What they are basically telling us, if you are nothing, you get nothing. The average Lebanese should have a say in all this.

I doubt the government will come through with this faster internet, but if they do, color me impressed….for a while.

Agreed. It isn’t because they can’t give fast electricity, is is because they want to squeeze every dollar from us.

Disgusting.

I love Lebanon, but i hate the government and the people who follow blindly.

I still have high hopes that someday things will be good.

Lol, my best friend complains about that too… and the thing is sometimes they steal their neighbour’s internet! XD

I’m kinda wondering if you’d still be in love with Kuwait’s internet if they had made you pay the full price normal customers pay for the service that you get ;p
