3 passengers travel without seat in Kuwait Airways flight

Supposedly 3 passengers on a flight from Mumbai to Kuwait didn’t have any seats to sit in and were made to stand for the whole flight. Kuwait Airways is denying this incident took place. Now I am not sure how reliable this news is since according to the news agency that reported this, Kuwait is located in Africa? Very weird. [Link]

Okay im not gonna discuss whether this is true or not, though it sounds just a little bit too much.

But honestly, i was FORCED to take a flight on KA in september and DAMN do i regret every second. Seats were in horrible condition, the luggage cabins above were shaking in a very disturbing way all through the flight, they still have those very lame weird TVs that show green faces and red skies, the food was freezing and tasteless, and worst of all, i had to go through a 2 hour delay for no good reason.

Want an inside intell? My cousin is the supervisor of the team responsible of maintenance of all KA fleet. He repeatedly told me that those jets are in a very very bad condition in every meaning the term could bear: computers dont function well, landing gear is in terrible condition, and best of all, the jets arent always sent for maintenance on scheduled time.

Bottom line: NEVER GET ON KA!!!

The report is rubbish but I wouldn’t be surprised of KA did this. The provide very low fares for hindis so might as well squeeze a bit more in to make up the difference LMAO.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I became expecting any thing from kuwait airways !

but really i have heard many flights problems but in kuwait airways case thats the first

BTW i have heard from documented source that many members of the national assembly tried to give (wa96a)to pilots who were graduated from very low universities

Dunno about the geography but it was reported on consecutive days by a leading broadsheet in India – TOI. And no, there was no mention there whatsoever of Kuwait being in Africa.

That’s Kuwait Airways’ advanced navigational system. The problem is you pay the extra cost if they fly to the wrong country 🙂

Indiatimes.com is a reliable source according to the Indians at my office and they also claimed it to be the “BBC” of India.

But all of the credibility is washed away when that map is shown.

This is not the first time our country being miss located from a news agency. Apparently our little country has the Flintstones toes and moves discretely. XD

the way the report is made, you would think it was a major accident or catastophe….”BREAKING NEWS” with the dramatic background music, an over excited news anchor, and to top it….appearently…Giza great pyramids are Ahmadi’s back yard……
the term “standees” is really funny….so simpsons or family guy.

Just researched a bit on this and found that this happened in October 2009. How come its coming out now?

And reading the comments on that video, someone’s said “2 major errors there… 1 by Kuwait Airways for taking people standing and 1 by Times of India for not knowing where Kuwait is”

LOL

Kuwait Airways: An Aviation Disaster Waiting to Happen.

Fly with us and increase your accidental death insurance policy to ensure your loved ones receive millions upon your untimely demise. Remember to pack light and tape your photo ID firmly to your torso.

what is the big deal . Many airlines they over book their flights , and they upgrade passengers .
and weight distribution , is not a problem if you have full airplane .

This claim brings up interesting points.
I’ve seen the way foreign workers have been treated at the airport and on Kuwait airways flights. I sometimes tell the guy who’s shouting at the petrified labourers that he doesn’t need to be so stern – but his excuse is that they don’t understand him otherwise.
Honestly, as a Kuwaiti, I think of how people react when they see this kind of mistreatment. And we see it in everyday life here – in the airports, in the co-ops… look at how we drive!
Not to say that the article is or isn’t accurate – and forget about the map, it’s an easy mistake, but we are seriously in need of a change in attitude.

I flew Riyadh to Kuwait last year, I was wearing dishdasha and the plane happened to be fully booked by Indians. They came back to me and informed me that they had made a seat open in the front for me.

Straight from the 50’s.

Hahahaha this is hilarious, I personally dont know which one to believe… Kuwait airways is capable of doing such a thing considering their track record…
And TOI jumps on every story vaguley related to the NEWS!!

Though, if the story is true it needs to be seriousley dealt with.. standing passangers what happened to all the saftey and borrring inflight instructions that we need to listen to EVERYTIME!!

I don’t even consider kuwait airways when I make any travel plan SINCE THEY CONSIDER MY 6 YEARS OLD SON TOO DANGEROUS TO BE ONBOARD because his name as they claimed seems like a terrorist name (it was mentioned in alwatan last month),,, by the way his name is Abdulaziz Hasan!!!!

Worst of all, you can not have even 1 beer in KA flights;)

I don’t use carries who don’t serve atleast beer and/or wines. Once, more or less accidentaly, my secretary reserved flights with KA to Dubai. Definitely the first and last trip with KA.

For sure, this is something that can happen with KA only.

The article in TimsOfIndia shows that this case was not limiting to KA only, but also Air India was involved since they provide check-in and gate services.

KA and AI should form a new alliance, Wings of Death, or something…

“tsshh tshh, this is your Captain speaking, we took a wrong turn and landed in Egypt, tsshh tsh, we will take off in about two hours and head to Kuwait, tssh tsh, please remain seated, to the 3 passengers standing, tssh tsh, sorry guys”

Okay first, I don’t know what tabloid reported this, but the question is not if the passengers were “standing” but if they were given seating on “jump seats”, of which the A310 has three.

According to regulations, only airline personnel are allowed to use those seats, and that’s a serious violation of safety and security if you allow passengers on those seats.

Its very easy to sort this out – simply get the load manifest from the ground personnel and compare it with the immigration record for that flight.

Look on the bright side: There’s no report of any Kuwaitis not being provided seats. The vast majority of Indians were in fact provided seats. In fact all Indians were placed inside the plane. How cool is that?! The plane was already overweight, and the three extra Indians were skinny ones, anyway. No reckless riding on the wings was permitted. And there were no reports of beatings.

Things are looking up.

This is pure BS. I know people work in KA who close personal friends and they have told me stories of Cheif Cabins or supervisors who have had their services terminated on landing for not following safety and security regulation. Last time I checked passengers standing in the aisle during take off and landing was against all regulations. Even pilots have had citations filed against them for minor infractions and you expect us to believe they flew thousands of miles with 03 passengers standing in the ailes.Funny very Funny

loooooooooooool Kuwait airways sux like hell , its rubbish , also jazeera is on the track 2 …. kuwait airways and jazeera airways going to hell , they treat passengers very badly ….. they only have 2 b747`s wow how rubbish , and also they have no 777-300er`s loool , i recomend them to give these planes to wataniya airways which is muchhhhhh better than kuwait airways and jazeera airways

whoever said that KA does not maintain their airplanes- this is complete BS.

They do maintain their planes, and the “violations” or citations you hear about in the news are things related the entertainment system or other minor things.

I hate Kuwait Airways, and try to avoid it at all costs, but they do take safety very seriously.

Part of the problem is people in Kuwait do not realize the importance of “hindis” or the Indian subcontinent on the financial bottom line for KU.
Like it or not, the Indian sub-continent is the life blood of all Gulf carriers. Remove the subcontinental operations of KU and you have an insolvent corporation.

The cabin crew of all Gulf carriers should be grateful to the blue collared workers from the subcontinent for their bread and sustenance.

Racial profiling is nothing new with KU. However, it is becoming just as bad with the others (Emirates airline included) but they have some way to go before they scale the heights KU has reached.

Stretching more on earlier comment, not only hindis, the problem with Kuwait is underestimating the asian or non-white population by an large. Just magine on one given day if all these so called blue collared non-important people decide to ***not use*** local buses (KPTC, City bus etc), not use their mobile phones, not a single fils transaction takes place in the expat community… what will the result ? Drops add to a ocean and every drop counts…. its not just the big chunks that run the so called local economy…..

Egyptians will be proud to hear this and probably start dreaming too. Why do Kuwaitis Love to hear Egyptians non-stop blabbering’s, really amazes me.

I don’t think anyone updated this story?

It’s possibly not that the passengers didn’t have seats. It’s that they were given seats in Business Class, but were friends or relatives of staff or something, so their boarding passes etc., were not registered, so their existence on the plane was not registered.

Apparently 3 family members of a KU (Kuwaiti) employee based in Bombay. Carrying 221kg of baggage.

I am not too sure about the credibility of the news but it could happen with Kuwait airways.

12th October we flew from Colomb – Kuwai – JFK and were coming back on the same route to Colombo with them. Here are my comments,

Customer service – Terrible. The cabin crew acted like I am going free in their craft or they looked like they are not getting paid by the employer.

Entertainment system – a fabulous JOKE

Seats – Basically you need to taken them out and put a new set.

Food – Acceptable given the fact it is a middle eastern country and serve food of their flavor. Me being an Asian it was edible for me. Rice with chicken and rice with fish. Colombo – Kuwait – JFK and ad back it was the same thing.

Overhead hand carry bag compartments – I guarantee that the next surprising news will be “A passenger dies overhead compartment falling on head in Kuwait airways”

Delayed boarding – They did not show any competency in Colombo and Kuwait. But they were punctual in JFK, might be because of the heavy penalties for delays.

Fly again? – Never.
