Anyone remember in the early 90’s the music the DJ at the ice skating ring rink would play? These are the songs I remember:
I’ve got the power – Snap
Rhythm is a dancer – Snap
Back to Life – Soul II Soul
2 Legit 2 Quit – Mc Hammer
Wiggle It – 2 In A Room
Now that we found love – Heavy D and the Boyz
Everybody – Black Box

Damn it reminds me of all the movies with KidnPlay!
Damn! I remember each one of these songs!! Good times…
marzouq that would be House Party
how come you didn’t play rhythm is a dancer today? i like that one.
They used to play all of the old Ace of Base songs, like “The Sign”, “She Leads a Lonely Life”, and “All that she Wants (is Another Baby).” Also the Shabba Ranks songs, like “Mr. Loverman.”
God DAMN, Mark, you are bringing back all of the memories. They used to have the best french fries in that cafeteria, which I hear is now actually a McDonalds. Which also has good fries. I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same!
dude ‘she leads a lonely life” and “all that she wants” is the same song lol.
shit i really want to hear the shabba ranks song though..missta lavamaaan , SHHHHABBA!
I have this image of skating to Hotel California (by the Eagles)
Although that was probably more like mid 90s (o:
Hey, there is also Madonna’s “Vogue,” they always played that at the ice ring. Some of those songs make me cring, but I still like vogue.
chrs, Samer – Dubai, UAE
Madonna and Michael Jackson were the 80s ice skating soundtrack. Every Wednesday night, that was the place to be in Kuwait! And remember when the Thriller-style black and red leather jackets with the V on the back were all the rage on the old Salmiya high street?
Boss is so right – the ice skating rink’s cafeteria had the best fries ever in the 80s, and I think in the 90s too. They had good burgers back in the day as well. Too bad they turned it into a McDonald’s.
My friends and I still go often, and it always brings back memories. If they want to boost business, I think they should start making Wednesdays 80s night in the rink.
Btw…it’s an ice skating “rink” not “ring”. 🙂
ooops
If anyone feels like shutting down the rink for a day; I have some old vinyl records and hammer pants.
K: I think it’s a fab idea, and my friends and I have actually looked into it. It’s quite expensive to shut the place down for a private event, but if we get enough people interested I think it’s certainly do-able. I’m serious here!
the last time i checked you could book the smaller rink for like 150KD or something.
Awesome songs 🙂
And Epic for Faith No More.
