There is a brand of earphones called Shure, they became really popular in the US because people who owned iPods and were looking for much better quality earphones would purchase the Shure’s. I own a pair of the Shure E2’s and they are really amazing. Anyway the Shure dealer in Kuwait refuses to stock them. I past by the Shure dealer over a year ago when I wanted to by the E2’s, I figured I would check and see how much they were in Kuwait before I decided to purchase them from Amazon. I passed by the dealer and he told me they only bring them by order and it would take 2 to 4 weeks. I was like fuck it and got them from Amazon for a cheaper price and they arrived a week later.
Two weeks ago Shure opened a store near my office in Muthana Complex. I just past by them today because a friend of mine wanted to by some Shure earphones and once again the dealer told me they don’t carry them but they can order it for me. What the fuck?
If I owned the Shure brand in Kuwait I would get a large quantity of the affordable E2 earphones, a good amount of the more expensive E3’s and a handful of the much more expensive E5’s. I would then target the iPod crowd by maybe placing a stand at Virgin and selling them there or maybe by placing an ad in Bazar magazine. Why would the dealer in Kuwait not stock the best selling Shure products especially if everyone owns an iPod?

because that’s how businesses are run in Kuwait .. they won’t stock up on something till the market floods itself with the product from unauthorized dealers .. maybe you should import them and sell them
Pretty much like geo said it.. they dont like taking risks! even though the product is relatively cheap! So the initial investment isnt that much!

If I was a risk taker myself or had the finances I would consider importing the Shure’s plus other items that are popular in the US and could be popular in the States. But as a Shure dealer, how much of a risk is it to them to bring in the earphones, they are the fucking dealers you know..

I’m sorry, but how can one justify spending more than 20 bucks on a pair of freaking HEADPHONES? Ya3ni it just doesn’t make sense! Especially for people like me who go through 2 or 3 pairs a year coz, frankly, I’m not gonna take care of HEADPHONES!
I’ll stick to my $20 Phillips in-ears with bass boost, thank you very much.

Talal some people spend more on headphones then they would on home speakers. The reason is most people use their headphones more then they use their home speakers.
Now asking why people would spend more then 20$ on headphones is a naive thing to ask.
For 20$ you can get some cheap ass home speakers, for $1000 you can get much better sounding home speakers.
Same with headphones, you can spend 6$ and get some shity noise or pay $100 and get some pretty amazing pair of headphones that would rival most home systems. I wouldnt pay $500 on earphones but I would easily pay 150. Some audiophilies even get custom earphone ear molds done for the perfect fit!

I just don’t get it. Why would Apple come up with such weak speakers? I got my Nano 2 months a go, well I’m a loud listener and guess what, they blew out–so I hear some extra sound effect while listening 😉
For real, I just think nothing fits the slimness look of at least Nano other than Apple’s own speakers. But still nothing fancy at their store.
On business talk, I can’t imagine how blind I was to buy a 2GB iPod Nano for the price of the 4GB from Virgin, Man! I should’ve checked on Apple store back a head.

Yazeed the 99$ Shure E2’s are really great. Once you put them on for the first time you will instantly see a large large difference between those and the white apple earbuds. But be warned the Shure E2’s are inear earphones meaning you shove them inside your ear. Whats great about that is you won’t hear any noise around you. I once did an experiement, i played music on my E2’s at a fairly decent volume and i made Nat scream at the top of her lungs infront of me, i couldn’t hear her at all 🙂 they are perfect for plane trips. Also you can find them for cheaper then 99$, you can find it for like 75$ online.
Finally if you don’t want in-ear earphones I would recommend the Sennheiser PX100. I have a review of it online and you can find it for like $40

they cost like KD35 but they really don’t have any bass at all. I like them for working out cuz they dont fall out of my ear.
If you want Headphones then you can pass by Dawaliah in Salmiya (opposite marina mall near eastpak) and check out their sennheiser collection. I have the sennheiser PX100 (u can find it in the review section) and I love it but I am not sure if they have it in Kuwait yet. While you are there btw, keep away from the Bose, they suck.

no, no particular setting, it just depends on the music but i think i use bass boost the most..
