A morning accident

I’ve seen a lot of accidents on the Gulf Road but I think this morning was the first time in which I saw two cars actually end up on the Gulf Road median. Luckily none of the cars hit a lamppost but I still believe that the Gulf Road would be much safer if they installed collapsible lampposts (Video below).

I wish that they think of people safety in this country more than how much would it cost to install such a thing.

a 2nd point of view:

i would imagine also a Dark Gulf Road running with all driven over, stepped on or smashed lampposts. because of our great designated driver here in Kuwait.

i hope no one get hurt

Cost should not be a factor in safety at all. BUT, as long as drivers in Kuwait drive like they own the road, and go at any speed they wish it does not matter what safety features you buy or install. The entire Middle East is a driving hazard nightmare, and forget the police. They are as much the problem as the rest! The first thing that MUST happen is make child seats mandatory and have all children in APPROVED safety seats. Set stronger and harsher speeding laws and ENFORCE them, no matter where you were born! Zigzagging in traffic has to STOP, and if an idiot can’t stop, and hits a pole.. Well they get what they deserve! But, sadly it’s the innocent ones that seem to always get the short end of the stick.

TweeZ – i hope that you think first before you talk and think about the idea of this subject and where to go positive from it.

being a racist wont solve the issue here

talking about people who stop their car whenever they see an accident and stair at it ” and taking some pictures!” ….hummm … bad habit really! ”

Just because if that i forget to mention that a couple of months ago someone HIT my car almost face to face because of that, he was driving slowed down to watch the accident from the first lane and he hit the car in front of him, hit the sideblock then came to the 3rd lane Face to face with me in the last moment he controlled it and just kidded my bumper.

and that was 7:30 am going to work on the 6th Ring road

People should Seriously stop that habit

If only people would drive like me, Kuwait would be a safer place.

On a more serious, I don’t even want to imagine how corrupted the budget would be for changing the lamp posts if the government decided on it.

I saw this happen, actually the tire smoke that came out when the car when up the side walk. Thankfully, no one was hurt and there happened to be a cop in the scene. I was about 4 -5 cars behind this, everyone breaked quickly.

WHY should they install collapsible lamp posts? Don’t drive like an a@#$% then you won’t need to worry about hitting one.

I have seen it too this morning:-(
BTW few meters after, there were another car but this one hitted the lamp post and got more damages! It looks like the most dangerous car accident are the ones that we generate by ourselves and don’t involve any other car.
Remember that when you feel sometimes so sleepy and suddenly your car deviates… Very scary sensation!

lap posts, road signs, traffic signals, and almost everything on the side of the roads in Kuwait were originally meant and purchased to be collapsible. Problem is everytime someone crash in them they’d collapse and end up on another cars. Since car accidents happen in Kuwait more frequently, they have noticed that more ‘innocent’ people are getting killed and more damages are happening because of this feature. Thats when they started ‘fixing’ them.

The idea of collapsing roadsigns and traffic lights is not new, and its much older than that video you have posted. It is saving lives all over the world. But sadly in Kuwait where speeds are much much higher than what anyone would expect, these things that are designed to save lives end up causing more harm not to the ones crashing into it, but to everyone else surrounding it.

Trust me, if those people were driving at reasonable speeds and both were paying attention to the road, no swiveling, no crazy actions, none of this would have happened.

When all is said and done, driving really is all about manners (a5la8). This is old news for goodness sake, teach it in schools and drive the point home already, and drive it good and hard. It’s such a shame, a sad sad shame.
To me Kuwait is heaven, aside from the lonesome thorn… that is the driving madness. Allah ekamilihom eb 3agilhom inshallah (driving-wise).

Has any noticed that when temperature increases, speed increases as well.

I noticed that during the summer hot days, people tend to speed more than on colder winter days, hence more accidents. It is strange a phenomenon!

But again, I think the problem lays with the current license system. Instead of having a simple exam, I believe that they system should be changed to something else. For example, the plate system they use in Australia. Newcomers must have will a P plate for 9 months to indicate they are newcomers. Then from a P you will have to do a tough exam which will then determine whether you deserve a license or not.

Cheers,

A.Albaz, I did notice that there are more accidents when its hotter, but not necessary driving faster..
I remember going out on a summer day from my KU in Khaldiyah to KU in Shuweikh and back… I witnessed at least five car accidents. And I remember not being surprised for seeing that… it was hot, really hot, the car’s A/C barely able to keep the car cool, and I felt so weak… All of that while driving a tiny new car which is supposedly has better A/C than those old mini buses and old cars that some people use for work or whatever.

Why should we put thoese type of lampost if they are gonna hit them, is it the goverments problem for puting up lampost to light our way? they didnt even consider that a car is going to JUMP the sidewalk and hit the lampost. Should we start putting walls insted of sidewalks? just this week ive seen 5 car crashes all on the gulf street! IN JUST A WEEK! why cant we just drive like normal people. i was driving on the road one day with a sports car(brother), chilling going 80 admiring the music and the amazing weather going to my grandmothers house. i like to take the gulf road during nice weather, the view is amazing, then u see a camero, or you see a chevy come up and starts honking and wanting to race! what kind of people do this!? The other day i was apporching a traffic light, it turned yellow, i slowed down to stop, next thing a knew there a slight jerk, i look behind in the review mirror i see a merc up my ass. I was in a Land Crusier. she hit my ramana(the thing to tow things) it broke the front part of her car. i turn on the flashers and get out, i asses that she is ok. but what pissed me off is that she stayed on the phone in her car, i look at the damage, her front grill was done, it was a gonner, i apporch the window, she is still on the phone. i pick up the phone called a friend thats in the police, he said as long as both of you are ok, you can leave because she crashed u at a traffic light, i have the rights, and she doesnt want to get out. I said ok, i wanted to apporch her again but she seemed to be having a good time on the phone so i left.

The best way to control this is to open a race circuit in kuwait or something or that sort to keep with the racers hunger and kool them off on the highway.
If they race on the circuits/tracks, they will have less of a need to race on the main roads.
