A thousand dinars can make a difference

The one thousand dinars grant is causing a lot of controversy. Yesterdays post already surpassed 200 comments and the conversation still hasn’t stopped. One impression you might get by reading all the comments in that post is that people will only be using the money for superficial things. That’s not the case for everyone. Below is a story of a Kuwaiti girl who wants to remain anonymous. She won’t be using the money to buy a new phone or go on a shopping spree, instead she will be using the one thousand dinars grant for something much more important to her. Please take the time to read her story below.

————————————-

Hi, I am a 27 years old Kuwaiti girl, I am not privileged and I need an operation to be able to speak and eat.

I was born with a defect called underbite which means my top jaw is very very small. It would be easy to fix at a young age but I am very unfortunate to have ignorant and illiterate parents. I didn’t know what I had was a defect, I only thought I was ugly as that’s what my mother kept telling me.

I have very severe underbite, it is so bad that I can’t breath with my nose and so I have to keep my mouth open all the time to be able to breath. I can’t chew solids because my teeth don’t meet so I only enjoy chocolate since it easily melts in my mouth.

I can’t pronounce many letters and all my life people have avoided me. People seem to think I am mentally retarded when I speak. I’m not, I am just like you. I am smart and a graduate of Kuwait University. I even used to have a job before I had to quit because of the none-stop teasing.

I reached to a point where I had enough of all this so I begged my family to help but they refuse to even talk to me. My mother thinks I’m ugly and not like my sisters and no one will marry me so why bother even speak to me? (I know this is stupid but what can i do? This is how my family thinks). So I took action all by myself. I figured I can do it, I am a Kuwaiti living in Kuwait so it should be easy. I went to a public clinic that transferred me to another one that also transferred me to a dentist who removed 2 of my healthy teeth and told me that was it and that I was fine. After that I saved up money and went to a private clinic, the doctor told me the teeth that got pulled out had nothing to do with my problem and that everything could be fixed with an underbite correction surgery. He told me the first thing I needed to do was get dental implants to replace the two pulled teeth, so I did that. Then I needed braces for a year and I did that too.

After one year of work, the surgery is all I have left, so I went again and tried the clinic, I thought after all these years maybe they have an idea about my condition. But once again the public clinic transferred me to a hospital which transferred me to a dentist but this time I got yelled at by the receptionist telling me I shouldn’t be here.

I gave up on them, I researched online about doing this operation in Kuwait and all I found was one doctor that could fix me at a cost of KD5,000 and another doctor but in Lebanon that can also fix me but for $12,000. So this is what I am doing now, I am saving up to do this operation and hopefully look, speak, and eat normally.

The KD1,000 Amir grant is bringing me closer to my dream, so thank you Amir of Kuwait.

I am only sharing my story with all of you so that maybe someone in charge can read it and fix the public health care system in my country, Kuwait. I have never used this iPhone or Blackberry everyone is having, we live a very simple life and no matter how many times we fight at home, I am grateful and thankful for my family and country. I would never change them, maybe I’d change the way they see me, but not them.

I really wish her the best luck with the operation. And I want her to know that not everyone here judges others to their looks, There’s always good people out there that you could talk to instead of your parents. I had the same issue with my parents, I know how you feel…

I pray from the bottom of my heart that she gets well soon and hope she has a successful operation. If there is any way I can help or we as readers can help please do let me know…

Thanks Mark for posting this story..Your blog always brings something positive out!!

Since you are Kuwaiti, you can do this for free. What you need to do is visit Kuwait Univeresity’s Dental Department and show them your case, they know exactly what to do and they have one of the best doctors for these kind of cases. Forget about private clinics they will just rip your off, go there and save your 1000 KD.

Agree about private clinics… They’re just hotels! Once the right doc is found (which is our system’s weakness) government medicine is 1000 times better. Hope it’s true about KU… I would say jaja’s advice is worth testing.

Good luck.

Young lady in Distress,
I wish you the best and there are people who are not judgemental of looks. You can reach out to sincere friends not necessarily Kuwaities. And the GOODNEWS this morning the money grant is KD2250 not just KD1000. They said 500KD from Sheikh Salem Al Ali & 750KD from the Crown Prince.
Cheer up:)

Yarab you get the surgery done enshallah. I really think you should see an ENT doctor too for ur breathing problem. all the best sweetie and don’t let anybody stand in ur way πŸ™‚

Extremely touching. I wish you the very best in your healing journey, the tease game have always been there, a sign of lacking credibility in having humor fee 7sab some one else’s misery. Sad to see how parents react that way too, do they even get anything out of ‘takseer miyadeefich’? Sickening. What ever makes you weak only makes you stronger, a better understanding future parent unlike the illiterate and ignorant forefathers we all have. Da3awati wiyach, itwakilay 3ala allah!

we got nothing to lose especially in this stupid weird generation.

That’s a heart wrenching story. Just think how much good a billion KD could do if it was used to improve kuwait’s health system or public schools, instead of being given away

agree…. the standared now is a discrase to a wealthy country like kuwait. I guess it is all about personal wealth…

Im quite new to q8 so I don’t know much about the health care system here but I just want you to know that even without seeing you you sound like a beautiful person with an amazing soul. I wish you the very best in the future and even though you wish to remain annonymous if u would like absaloutley anything even someone to come with you to drs appointments I am happy to help, just be strong and in the end I’m sure everything will work out. God bless you

“That’s a heart wrenching story. Just think how much good a billion KD could do if it was used to improve kuwait’s health system or public schools, instead of being given away”

Replying to Agja

Given away to whome? the 1.3 Billion KD was a gift from the Amir. The amir is not the government. Its his own money. Monarchy Government, everybody please keep this in mind. Many narrow minded and light headed people these days, getting sick of these mentalities day after day

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that there is hope for you…

My wife had a very similar problem. She had pain because her front teeth could not meet and her back teeth would ‘grind’ when she was sleeping because they were too close. She also struggled to breathe through her nose and would get a sore throat because of it. The worst thing for me was that she struggled to smile in pictures because she didn’t like her teeth/smile.

My wife and I are British and extremely lucky to have free healthcare in the UK. She had to have braces on her teeth for 4 years in her early 20s, followed by metal plates on the top of her teeth where they were worn out because of her teeth grinding. Then, she had an operation called an Bimaxillary Osteotomy. This involved a 5-hour operation involving breaking, cutting and reshaping both jaws.

When I saw her in the hospital after the operation, I was horrified by the bruising. She had two black eyes and her mouth was so swollen that she could not eat solid foods for a week.

Afterwards, she had several months of slow recovery, followed by further braces.

This was 7 years ago. Now, we have been here in Kuwait for 5 years. I see her smiling now. People tell her how beautiful she is. She still finds it difficult to accept these compliments. But, after all the pain, effort and time, she is finally starting to accept what I have always known. She is an exceptionally beautiful person, and always has been.

I just wanted you to know that despite all the teasing, pain, ignorant people and frustration, there are people who have been through it before and have come out the other side smiling.

Stay strong.

Just my two cents, but people who judge others by their looks are just insecure about theirs, and unfortunately, looking at someone who was less fortunate than they were makes them feel superior.

My mom use to tell me this really comforting thing whenever I asked a question that would compare people. For example, “Mom, why did god give so much money to this person who doesn’t even appreciate it, and spends it on drugs and cars, and he treats others like dirt, while there are so many people out there who are much better human beings, but were not so fortunate?”

Her reply use to always be “God gave everyone the exact same 24 carats (like with gold and diamonds) and he put a certain number of those carats into different catagories. Health, wealth, luck, personality, likeability, beauty etc etc, and while this person seems to have gotten all 24 carats in wealth, but zero in everything else, unlike you was lucky enough to get his carats well spread out”

Can I just say you’ve got so many carats in wisdom, compassion, health of mind, personality, likeability, smartness, love and that’s just what I picked up from that post alone. You’re truly an inspiration!

Mark, is there a way we can help her? even though im not kuwaiti and didnt get anything. im ready to donate so that she can reach even closer to her dream. Lets do something this february. thats what freedom and liberation is all about.

Mark,

Can we help her out? It seems that she did most of the research and basically all she needs is the money. I am surprised that kuwait’s healthcare does not cover this operation or they might not have the capacity to do it?

Anyways, like rayboy said, if we all donate something, I am sure we would help her get closer.

Health care in Kuwait is free.
If the patient could not be treated in Kuwait s/he is sent abroad for treatment for free at world top class hospitals and clinics.

Thank you for sharing this. I had a similar but less severe condition. There is a good surgeon here in Bahrain and the cost of the operation is less than BD 2000 (Dr Ghassan Dhaif). The same operation can also be done in UK (New Castle) for a similar cost (excluding travel expenses). I can provide you with further details if necessary.

Health care is free in Kuwait and granted by the constitution for all Kuwaitis.

If medical treatment was unavailable in Kuwait, citizens are sent abroad for treatment in world top hospitals.

Government cover all costs of the medical trips for the patient and his/her companion, sometimes that includes medical evacuation planes/helicopters.

And you don’t even need wasta for that!

God bless our constitution.

agreed luJ but the level of the doctors is sub-standard in kuwait AND for the good doctors, they are questioned many times over before they are granted all the necessary tools in terms of operating etc etc and sending a patient abroad isnt that easy. there is a committee and usually wasta interferes in the system.

I am pretty sure our new friend does not qualify to be sent abroad. They dignosed her as having extra teeth!!!! and removed two valuable ones from her mouth!

so sad
god be with you..
i am praying for you
and would be willing to help you out as well πŸ™‚

Glad such cases are seeing light due to blogs and social media. I am sure this will be picked by a lot of eyeballs and the word will be out. Lets hope for the best.

Allah ywafgch

Your mother just has a very traditional way of thinking and even if she thinks your ugly, you are above all that and are very intelligent. What one person finds ugly, another will find beautiful, remember that!

Thats is a very touching and heartbreaking story, hun I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope doing the surgery gets you the results your hoping for.

if you all willing to make a donation please inform Mark so he’d post about it or email us, let’s all make something deserve spending for, and trust me god will reward us, soon or later.

god bless and live strong!

It’s really great to see such compassion. Mark please let us know if we can donate & if there’s anything else she needs.

Bobdair,

The money is not from the Ameer’s personal money. He is not that wealthy. His Highness Ordered the Government to issue the payment & it is from the reserves.

To all the above, NO donation is needed, NO money is needed. She can do her jaw operation in Kuwait for free, all she has to pay is less than 100 KD for braces.

Kuwait University Dental Clinic – Jabriya

There’s no need for anybody to donate. As a citizen she has the right to be sent abroad with all expenses paid by the government if the surgery cannot be done here. She just needs someone to help her get through the system and do it properly.

I think this is the currect solution. There should be some one to guide here to utilize her rights as a citizen of kuwait. If wasta is required to make every thing move fast please offer it for her. I wish all the best to her. She have a very beutifull heart. God bless you …

so if she doesnt need the money. Mark, if someone could help her find the right channels to get this done. If she needs help , there is amazing treatment that can be carried out in India too , at relatively decent pricing.

Thank you everyone for your generosity but she doesn’t want any financial help, she wants everyone to enjoy the 1000 and spend it on themselves. But Elle she would be up for your offer since she thinks maybe they would treat her better at the hospital if you were with her.

try the outside kuwait health care service they could pay for ur treatment its beside maki juma’a hospital or al sabah (in that area )

Your dental problem will need an orthogthanic surgery . They do these surgeries every day in public hospitals for free. Yes , I am a dentist and I advise you to go to public hospital that you are followed to . You will need to see an oral and maxillofacial surgery department , not a general dentist . Don’t worry bout the implants at the momemnt .
Dr. F

Good luck getting to what you’re aiming for.

I still prefer chipping some for something useful rather than spending it on luxury which I can always get in a month or two.

Jaja is right ! You can do the operation in Jabriya- next to Mubarak Hospital (KU’s dental clinic).. I had my braces and everythig done there too

Best of luck

That was a very touching story. I wish you all the best!

Being a dentist working in the government sector myself, I can direct you to the proper destination for these surgeries.

The hospital you want to go to is the Maxillofacial sugery department in Amiri hospital. They are the only governmental hospital in Kuwait that are allowed to do surgeries of this caliber as far as I know. They tend to take a long time to get from the first visit to the time of surgery though, so it is up to you if you want to go through that.

So, go to your popyclinic and request a consultation from the surgery department. And if you are living in the Asima area, you are more than welcome to come to my polyclinic and I will take care of you there. If you are, please ask Mark for my email and I would be more than happy to help as much as I can.

God bless

Sorry about the comment but I am a Kuwaiti and suffered from the reverse which is overbite (the bottom jaw grows too fast). The cure involved removing bottom jaw teeth and part of my jaw bone to fix.
This surgery was done at the government dental clinic (behind amiri hospital) 16 years ago by an orrhodentical doctor. Over and underbite surgeries are being done I was told at a rate of 5-6 procedures a day in kuwait by government hospitals. And the results are good.
If the case is as described then they would do it with no problems.

A touching story. I wish her all the best to continue. Mark, your donation campaign goes ahead, pse contact me as well.

I cannot guarantee anything, but I am truly willing to try my best to find a realistic and effective solution for this young courageous woman. Please e-mail me if I can be of any further assistance. God bless you all.

Very touching Story. She is very smart and beautiful at heart. Wish her for a successful treatment. God Bless Her.

I didn’t know that if you are not good looking and your chance of marriage is low then your family won’t talk to you? ;\

I find it really hard to believe for any mom to sacrifice her daughter for social appearances. Is that really happening in kuwait?

Can anyone over here having WASTA can help this lady to smoothen her life, by just directing her whom to contact & who they think will help her out.

I have been deeply touched by her story and i would LOVE to donate so that she can do the operation.
Mark, please email me as well if your collecting donations… she has a beautiful soul and she deserves the best…God bless

Email me if you will donate.

Wish you all the best and God Bless you. No matter what you’re facing from your family or others, just be patient and God will reward you back as much as you believe in him. Every thing is happening for a better reason.

Such things happen, and remember that your case is much much better that many other cases. El7amdella 3la kel 7al ..

Good Luck and please keep us updated with what goes on with you. I would love to read that you did the operation. INSHALLA.

I’m speechless after reading the article & the comments. People born with a Golden Spoon also has problems like the others.

I’m surprised. in a country where the nationals have so many advantages. she hasn’t found a helping hand yet.

i think u should try what jaja said first. I’s sure Kuwait’s govt can help you someway. As far as i know Kuwait’s govt gives it’s nationals the privileges that the nationals from other countries can just dream of.

I’m certain you wouldn’t be needing any financial support. But if you need any help. be it fianancial or in kind, do let us know.

And i want u to know that not everybody is same. not everybody goes for looks. be positive & feel good within. no matter who says what.. remember you are created by god just like everybody else and you are wonderful.

May god give your family knoelwdge.
may god give you good health and grant all your wishes.

take care.

Your mom told you that you’re ugly
but i sense beauty coming out of my screen while reading your story .. you are a beautiful soul and that’s a rare thing to have
getting the surgery done will just be an extra added to your complete beauty

i don’t know you but i wish i can give you a hug right now

hope everything goes well

God bless our Amir

Dear Kuwaiti Girl,
You are an amazing person. You have courage, strength and perseverance that many people lack. Outside appearances never reflect on what a person is really like deep down inside. Your post reflects your confidence and strength, you are beautiful no matter what your outside shell looks like.
I want you to know that you were made special, ignore the bullies and focus on your happiness.
I hope you will get this operation soon. I will be happy to help you with a donation if you would like to accept. If not however, I understand and I respect you for being so courageous.
Good luck and keep smiling.

This is not a Story.. this is someone’s life.. We can only imagine her situation.. but she is the only one who can feel it.. I am so impressed with the Girl

There is this quote ” There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it” . I have never heard of mother saying her own child ugly. God bless those mothers..

Mark I remember your post about the guy without Limbs … I think the girl should have read something like that .. it will give her inspiration..

I think Kuwait has good medical services.. you just need to find the right person.

Hope you get the right person soon.. Blogs can change someone life…

Power of Blogging

Dear Mark,

IT is good that you have posted this, I pray that she gets well soon and hope she has a successful operation. As all have said if we are going to contribute anything to this good cause, do let me know on [email protected].

Mark

Thanks to your blog
Her letter was so pure and from the heart.
as what some ppl said here beauty is not in what you see but beauty is in what you are inside and this girl is so beautiful in my eyes ,i will pray to God to help her cross this situation to face this material world . this is an eyes opener for ppl

Hmm this girl is a great inspiration I honestly wish her all the luck and God’s Blessings. She is amazing to have such maturity. I could for once never think or be like her. Kudos to you Mark for bringing this up to us.

allah ye3enha inshallah. She sounds like a very nice lady. I don’t think she asked for money. But i would help her if she needs it. I hope her wish come true, we do have a big problem in the health system..

With all do respect to everyone’s kind words and support, this girl needs more than just sympathy, she needs useful and helpful information. Instead of saying “I’ll help or donate”, do something about it and actually help her, because she made it clear that she is not a charity case. I myself am working on HELPING her, calling people and asking around. Even if it is just a name of a doctor or a clinic/hospital, share whatever you can.
Thank you.

No, it’s you who should get one, Spartan. How does “First Place, Biggest Jerk in the World Award” sound? Don’t get all modest on us now, trust me you beat out all the competition by a huge margin!

Seeing as contributing to the cost of surgery is not an option, there is nothing wrong with F suggesting other ways to help.

I love how there are sooo many people out there willing to help. This is amazing.

For all “haters” who were saying “oh, they don’t deserve this 1000KD” look at all those people offering to help someone in need. Stop generalizing and look at individuals as individuals, not part of a stereotype you have.

Dear Kuwaiti Girl,

They say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I have not had the chance to see you but from the way you have written your letter I can only imagine what a loving and beautiful person you are. From your writing one can tell that you have an inner beauty that will outshine any physical beauty that will occur from any surgery. You will always be beautiful no matter what the world may say. Hold your head high and walk proud for you have nothing to neither fear nor be ashamed about. You are beautiful!!

Dr.F & Dr.Khalid it’s really nice that you both are willing to lend a hand. I too have heard about the Dental facility behind the Amiri Hospital and that they very good at what they do but it takes a long time to get your foot in the door maybe as doctors you can help her get in a little faster maybe even take her directly to the right doctor for the job.

Mark,
If ever a decision is made to take up a collection to help this young lady please let me know. I will be more than happy to donate for such a worthy cause.

My first impulse was to offer to donate money to this young lady – which I’m happy to do.

There are a lot of comments here concerning beauty and superficiality. Feeling beautiful is important to your self esteem, but she’s having trouble eating and speaking.

I think the healthcare system in Kuwait is deplorable. Yes, Kuwaitis are granted free healthcare (which is wonderful, don’t get me wrong and I am a foreigner who enjoys the benefits as well), but suppose they don’t have the wastah to get overseas for an operation like this? Or -maybe her parents won’t give their approval; she may never be able to go through the government. Is it easy to get a loan for surgery here? I don’t know.

To the lady who wrote the letter: You sound like a kind and caring person; someone who deserves to FEEL beautiful. Please don’t let anyone define who you are based on your ability to marry. You are obviously a good person and many people (including the strangers here) are wishing you well and praying for your success.

Dear kuwaiti lady

Thank u for ur courage to share ur intimate feelings with us…. please accept our donation and think that it is making US happier and in peace.

If the girl was asking for something I could see how you might say that but she isn’t looking for anything, she is just sharing her story so don’t turn this into something it isn’t.

i agree.. it rlly is easy to fix underbite and kuwait provides the public services for that she doesn’t need to go private..

I wouldn’t say fishy…
just… idk
it’s kind of a fucked up story with the family being against her and all.
if you do read this, i am really sorry about your situation. i can’t imagine what you’re going through.
it’s just so hard for me to adjust to the fact that no one of position is willing to do something to help. seriously, wtf?
best of luck habibti…. chin up, you never know what life has in hand for you tomorrow.

finally, someone says something useful.

i agree; we in kuwait, expats and kuwaitis alike, are caught inbetween a sub-standard health care system in terms of public hospitals, and an overly priced private one.

to throw a few examples:
a) i go to the dental clinic at a private hospital for a routine procedure, simpler than cleaning, and im told i need to remove a filling to clean out the cavities beneath, after the filling is removed, im told i need a root canal.

b) i go to the same hospital to the ENT for a simple prescription of medicines for my flu, im told i have a deviated septum and need an operation.

c) i go to a different hospital for a wrist injury, im told i might need an MRI and surgery. i take the results to the previously mentioned hospital and im told to just keep rubbing ointment on it,a nd it should clear up in a month or so.

and according to Zawya.com: 2013 power shortage imminent in Kuwait.

Yea..I m sure..I really cant count on the hospitals here. Just go to my home country for any medical help. Its cheaper as wel:)

Mark, i may not be able to donate (just in case if you will be colleting) because i am a normal expat housewife. Our income is just enough to pay our rent, buy food, pay bills and buy necessary things for our child. We are not even able to save up for ourself though i am trying to find a job for a year now but it seems that i have hard time finding a company who accepts applicants with article 22 visa.

I want to tell this lady that she has a friend in me, if she needs 1. I salute her with her courage to overcome the physical feature she has. Insha’allah she will be guided to the right Doctor who can help her and show her family that she can do it without them.

Hey bloggers…. So proud of you all. Apart from one person who thought the story was “fishy” everyone has bonded and shown support to this Kuwaiti Girl! Fighting over the 1000kd seems soooo stupid now! Let’s keep this attitude going!

i had heart surgery done in london when i was 9 months old back in 1991. kuwait paid for everything, including flight, accommodation, pocket money, and surgery for my family and i. Fortunately for you and i, being kuwaiti has its upsides. if a procedure cannot be done in kuwait, the country will pay to send you to wherever it can be done properly. good luck
and don’t feel to bad the teasing, i know …. that you know how superficial, arrogant, and simple minded some people could be.

Hey Mark, I’m a medical student and most of my friends are either doctors, dentists or still studying medicine/dentistry .. I know many great doctors in Kuwait .. I’m sure I can find someone who can look into her case and maybe help her out. or at least give her some good advice.
but I’m gonna need some more details about her case and medical history.

Love her!

Dear Beautiful (Kuwaiti girl),

Tell me who’s teasing you at your job… I will be more than happy to beat them up! (jkn;p)

but I reaeaeally hate ppl that stereo type ppl according to their looks!
It’s pathetic !

Medicine, doctors, professors, teachers, etc… all fall under this category EDUCATION!

believe me, if our education improves hospitals wouldn’t have as many problems, we’d have doctors that KNOW what they’re doing

(there are good doctors but few)

Mark, if you ever or any1 here comes up with a solution to help this young lady, I’d be more than happy to help

1 of your best posts

Hey meme,

I’ll back up in that beat down and will help dig a shallow grave as well πŸ™‚

Any doctors or friends of doctors step up and throw in names, contacts and cost so that we can do something. The Kuwait Govt plans to eradicate the sponsor system as a gift to us expatriates. Lets return the gesture and help this young lady.

May Allah support her with all her efforts…i wish i could help the sister in any way…. I pray to Allah to give us all the patience this brave girl has and to thank the Almighty for the family, friends, beauty and unlimited bounties he has blessed us with. OH Allah please help this sister!!! Oh Allah please make place for this sister in the hearts of her family..OH Allah please forgive us all.. May Allah bless Kuwait, the amir, the citizens, and all the expats..Ameen….

To the beautiful girl,

I just want you to know that I can feel your pain. Growing up as someone who was also teased mercilessly over my teeth, I know the feeling of being ridiculed, called ugly, and not being able to breathe properly or even smile. At the very least, I hope you know that you are not alone.

During my treatment in Kuwait, I also had healthy teeth removed- 4 of them. Future dentists told me that wasn’t necessary- of course, it’s too late to get that news now. I also had braces in Kuwait, but I guess my orthodontist did not really know what he was doing. Long story short, after years and years of struggling with this, I came to the States where I was able to get proper treatment. Jaw surgery is not exactly easy to do and not painless, but it is possible and could very well be worth it in your case. I’m more than willing to help you gather information on treatment and show your x-rays and whatnot to doctors here in the US and get their opinion if you would like.

I hope that you will realize that you’re beautiful. You were created with beauty both on the inside and out- it’s the people who don’t have hearts and judge others that are truly ugly. I’ll keep you in my prayers and I wish you all the best.

Ever heard of the Chinese saying:

“If you want someone to eat for a day catch him a fish, If you want that person to eat forever teach him HOW to fish…”

How could a parent tell her daughter that she’s ugly? That’s pretty eff’d up!

For me, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! It’s not what we see on the outside that counts, It’s what’s within. Be Brave!

To the Girl,I would like to wish her the best. The health care system in kuwait is good alright but to find a good doctor is like finding a needle in a haystack.Recently I was on the verge of a heart attack and al HAmdullilah,I was admitted in Adan and looked after by the best specialists. Please do get in touch with a person who knows all the formalities of approaching a proper doctor who can truly help you. Please Help her out.And this issue of 1000 kd or whatever…I think most people wonder how lucky the kuwaitis are! It takes almost 1+ years for me to save up 1000kd after all the expenses and when someone gets it so easy, you wonder.Thats it! After all,we are but human to think so.

Dear Sweet Girl..
I wish you all the best. I have read almost all the replys on this. I felt like you need some one to guide in the proper way to reach to exact treatment, also to get your rights as a Kuwaiti Citizen..

Hello everyone,

First of all Mark, i am a big fan of your blog but i am not the type that writes comments, i just like to read the posts, anyway when i read this post i couldn’t not write, so this would be my first time…

To the beautiful girl, read your post and i am really inspired by the great soul you have, you are beautiful dont let anyone tell you otherwise… it is really sad to see that in kuwait a country of educated persons, people would still judge people on how they look (i guess people like that will always be around) thats just pathetic, dear girl this only shows how ugly and jeolous they are and how pure you are… never lose faith, Allah 9ob7anah is always by your side, 5alay eimanich 8awi… i dont know how to say it in english, but ‘allah yabli men yo7eb’ that is because he tests their faith in him ‘eimanhom’ and likes it when a person is always thinking and thankful of him in good and bad circumstances, ‘dayem thikray rabich o0o 7imday allah 3ala i9i7a o0o 3al marath’…

Mark looks like she’s not taking any donations and that just makes her a better person, i really applaud her… but just in case donations were made i would be more than happy to help… Mark can you contact her in some way..? if you can tell her to see ‘3ilaj fil 5arej’ let her go throught the process tell her just to try, the wasta is all in the committee that says who goes and who doesn’t i might be able to help in this part i just need to know who is in the committee she is in or at least from where she is going ‘jaish, naf6, i9e7a, etc. etc.’ i cannot promise her anything but i know someone who has wasta in this area that might help her, its worth a try… and by the way she should be able to go even without wasta but this is kuwait what a shame ‘hathi liq8 9alaw 3anabi’…

to all people who commented on this issue and are willing to help, thank you this just shows that there are still good people in this world, thank you thank you and thank you again…

Mark, im aware that the MP parliament will be submitting a request for expatriates working in the private sector to be granted 1month salary bonus for next month.

Do you have any idea if expats working in the government will get something also? (last year they gave us 50kd).

You can’t be serious in thinking that a month’s bonus will be granted to expats, though it has been reported in the press. Do you think it will materialise? I certainly don’t. But nothing wrong in dreaming. Best of luck!

I am a dentist working in government sector this lady needs to see an Orthodontist and a Maxillofacial surgeon they both have to come up with a treatment plan. My advice to you try the dental center in Kuwait University first https://139.141.91.9/fod/clinic/
phone 24983433,24983455,24983466 take any x-rays or models you have with you (if you were given an appointment).
Your other option is to go to the dental clinic at your polyclinic and ask for a referral to see an orthodontist in one of the specialized dental centers. The orthodontist will consult a surgeon before the operation. If you were rejected Mark has my email and I’ll try to help you work through the system.

I’m trying to leave this comment several times now but it isn’t published unfortunately madri shelsalfa πŸ™

Well touching story and am so proud of ur strength, having a pessimistic discouraging family and fighting against all, searching, reading and doing something for yourself.. It’s just great.

Dear u have two options:
1) as previously said dental center of Kuwait university – jabriya opposite blood bank. They have 3 oromaxillofacial surgeons that can give a consult and arrange a surgery in Mubarak if feasible.

2) all 5 major specialty dental centers in Kuwait have a surgery department with very Wella trained surgeons that perform this orthognathic surgery almost routinely under G.A.
It all starts with your polyclinic, I’m guessing u reside in an area with lack of patient tolerance by doctors.. They should have diagnosed and referred! So just skip it and go directly to either Amiri, Bneid al gar, adan, Farwaneya or Jahra dental specialty center, surgery department and get examined.
Either u didn’t go to oromaxillofacial surgeon or your case was so sever that it has complications or un-guaranteed results..Β
In this case don’t trust private clinics, go to a well known one with a good oromaxillofacial surgeon.. Private sells talk. If governmental oromaxillofcial surgeon tells u it’s not recommended then think twice before going to private.

In case u r reading this contact me about which options u want to seek first , I’ll be glad to suggest names and see whoever I know..

Does anyone have contacts for Doctor Abbas Ramzi? I know he was the top dental surgeon here and known for his reconstructive dental surgery but unsure if he is still working. He would be the man to contact for help.

Hey girl;)
First of all know ina Alah is with you all the way and he will not give up on you. He is testing your patients and inshAlah you are rewarded for it all the way. And I am proud of you for going this far alone and you should be proud of yourself too;)! You are an inspiration a lesson to all of us. I am curremtly studying dentistry and now i wish soo badly that i couldve been older so i can fix your problem! πŸ˜‰ stay strong and know that all the people who read your story including me, will be praying for your recovery. And you are beautiful!

Her story is nothing of a sympathy than the millions of expatriates working here.

Drivers here in Kuwaiti homes work 20/24 hours and get 40 KD salary. Yes it is the “giving” season for the Kuwaiti’s, something like “Christmas” in the western countries. Who benefits from this ??

This is the festival for the “Kuwaitis” BUT NOT FOR the people of Kuwait who has made what Kuwait is right now.

Does that increase the salary of the drivers/servants ???? NO WAY !!!!!

I am laughing at the Kuwait govt offer to buy me off for a 1000kd. I consider this a buyout with all the drama between the govt and the opposition groups. I am gladly going to take this 1000kd and give it all away to friends who need it more than me and to some other unfortunate few.

Wow, Sir Mishal. You have my humble respect.

I guess you are one among the very few Kuwaiti’s that I am going to respect from my Heart, and not just a show off by showing a big fake grin and saying “Salam”….

Hello Girl
I will be more than happy to offer you my 1,000 KD if your willing to accept it πŸ™‚ my email is ********@yahoo.com
