Ahmadi Drive-in Theater Demolished

According to the blog Life in Kuwait, the Ahmadi drive-in theater got demolished last week. I guess this isn’t a surprise since it hadn’t been used in decades, but it’s always sad to see another part of Kuwait’s past go.

Next up I hear the ice skating rink is going to get demolished. I’ve been trying to confirm and get more details from TEC but whoever is running their instagram account doesn’t respond to comments or DM’s. So don’t take my word for it.

Anyway, here are some photos of the Ahmadi drive-in:

The ice skating rink is definitely going. But good news is, as part of phase III of Shaheed park, it will make a grand comeback.

my brother plays for the Kuwaiti team for ice hockey so far what I heard from him is that is going to be for the private use for the teams

there is a glitch in your email seller recaptcha form. It says write the above words, but there are no words above.

I hope they leave the rink.. does it hurt anyone? Personally I love skating, and its always a nice place to escape to on a hot summer day when its 50 degrees outside.

Problem about Kuwait is, if they close one thing down. Its gone forever. They closed down shaab park and entertainment city, now there’s no amusement parks at all. Next what? They’re gonna close down the aqua parks or something?

I really hope it stays.. 🙁

According to this post: (https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv055dildh_/), there’ll be a new rink constructed in Bayan with an equivalent area of 30×60 that satisfies the Olympic regulations. The post mentioned that two teams are consulting on the project the first is from Finland and the second is from Germany.

I hope that this post is accurate and not just a lame April fools joke since it was posted on the 1st.

Damn i remember driving around one of those back in 97 noon and it was running. My mom told me it was Expo district. Don’t know if its still there but the screen was huge and i was able to see 2 seconds of a movie showing on screen ( some indian guy in a white shirt:)
