Alshaya and The Cheesecake Factory now official

Back in December I posted about a rumor that Alshaya was signing a deal to bring The Cheesecake Factory to Kuwait and the Middle East and today it became offical. Alshaya got the rights to franchise The Cheesecake Factory in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. They will be opening up 22 restaurants within the next 5 years. Arabian Business has more details [Here]

nope … no fast food … but consistently reported to be one of the worst restaurants in America based on nutritional information.

Note that has not stopped me from frequenting The Cheesecake Factory when I’m home LOL

Get fatter Kuwait.

@ maud

Lol… it is fast food. They’re gonna be delivering frozen cheesecakes to the branches then they’re just gonna defrost them and sell them. Same exact thing.

Homemade cheesecake is amazing with fresh ingredients, cheesecake factory is an insult to cheesecake. But, doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s food they’ll stuff their mouths with it.

Good for them. Great franchises and they’ll manage them well. Kuwaitis should be proud of business groups like Al Shaye who highlight Kuwaiti entrepreneurship and the state beyond our borders.

Why should we be proud, unlike in the US where these company are public limited companies with thousands of shareholders, the economy in kuwait it run by mafia style families who are not only wealthy but do not give anyone who isn’t from their elite status a chance to succeed in the kuwaiti stock market. Tell me the last time someone in kuwait who wasn’t apart of the rich elite families ( I won’t name names you all know them) who struck it rich and successfull in kuwaiti business? We hear many stories in kuwait about people attempting to get into the market and at the end of the day they end losing their homes and livelihoods. To me this is only the story of the rich getting richer.
What i would like to see is public limited companies in kuwait and an end to the family style ownership of business, encourage the normal kuwaiti on the street to invest in his own country instead of allowing the elite to reap all the profits and buy houses in Marbella Spain and chateux’s in Montecarlo.

Good job for them but I would have to agree with you totally
thank you for saying it clear. I think they should give more chances to people who want to start things in Kuwait, i for a person so many door being shot for many people in Kuwait for the same reasons.

why would a family run business that has been trading under the same name since 1890 ( 121 Years ) and under generations of family members want to sell what they have been blessed with by Allah just because you are jealous of their success ? your attitude makes me sick . work hard and pray for success and stop hating on other peoples stuff.

Alsayer has nothing to do with Cheescake factory Restaurants . The cheese cake factory in the US has a deal with Caribou caffee ( which Alsayer represents ) to sell their cheesecakes in Carribou cafee outlets . nothing more . The cheesecake factory is a restaurant concept .

I don’t understand Kuwaiti entrepreneur angle here ? They just get all the money and hire some people from outside to do the work. How many Kuwaiti get employed.Oh I forgot the Kuwaiti just eat the cake and dont ask questions ! My bad !

There are many Kuwaiti’s that work in the Alshaya headoffice for these restaurants & brands 🙂 It’s not only instore staff that make things work. Don’t be so judgemental.

I hope PF Chang’s continues to be well managed after the American managers leave Kuwait! So far, those guys have managed to keep everything in check & well-run!

well lets put it this way . An entreprenour is a person . the person who puts the idea together , with the money and the management . so when a kuwaiti company , founded , run and managed by a kuwaitis introduces products from arrond the world products to places from north Africa all the way to siberia , I think it has something to do with kuwait dont you ? FYI MH alshaya has many of brands that are in house creations and not franchises . care to guess which ones.

Boy do people Love to hate Kuwait . I say die of your jealously .

Wow im sooooo excited. NOT ! This is a Perfect example of how big business can be dumb. For a company this size they could do their own concepts just like the small businesses did and succeeded ! Set a bad example for entrpreneurship in Kuwait. On a lighter note, its better than TGIF

Why can’t they do both because that’s what they are doing. You’re thinking small, alshaya have already brought most of the british brands to the region, they’ve also gone ahead and created a bunch of their own restaurants (totally fish, thai chi etc..) And now they’re bringing american franchises as well. They’re doing it all and they’re helping put Kuwait on the map.

Shaye recently hired about 100 Kuwaitis and almost half left because the hours were too long for them. Lots of Kuwaitis don’t want hard work.
