Animal Cruelty

spray painted dog

I passed by the animals section of Friday Market today and it was sickening. I hate going there and it had been a really long time since I was last there but I was curious to see if things had changed. They haven’t.

Isn’t there an animal care and control bureau here in Kuwait? Look at the picture of the dog above, it was spray painted, had strange stains all over him and what looks like wounds from a dog fight. Why doesn’t the government or animal bureau do anything about it?

its seems like these kinda things happen all over, some places worse than the others. last night when i was wathcing the news, *of all the events happening in town* there was this dog rape report ๐Ÿ™ that was flucked up!

All things โ€œโ€ฆhave been created for you …โ€ for our benefit (S2:29). It thus becomes our duty to protect, employ with dignity, and promote the well-being of any animal in our care. In this way, we are expressing our thankfulness to Allah (swt) for His blessings in a practical manner. (Qurโ€™anic Foundations and Structure of Muslim Society, Mawlana F.R. Ansari, vol. 2, pp. 125-126)

this is just really sad, there is a huge amount of social injustice and cruelty to animals is just considered so low on the list of problems. This is really cruel and I hope that man burns in hell!

Actually, the government participate in the killing of dogs here everyday, lets say you saw a dog any where in Kuwait without an owner weather it was lost or just a small puppy you can call a number and 2 guys will come with shut guns and shoot the dog in front of you and throw it in the back of therr van “i witnised this once”
this is how government here are participating in animal rights ,
welcome to Kuwait.

You have Filipino maids being being subject to gang rapes. They invariably get wasta to escape meaningful punishment.Who gives a toss about a blue-headed dog?

In Saudi, a gang of rapists escaped with 200 lashes.

Ignorance. Lack of moral education. The same brainless morons I saw doing doughnuts on the public highway in Ahmadi last night.

The poor dog has more intelligence than they do.

A Banghali man once raped the entire goat population of a man’s farm where he worked, so when the man found out he killed them all. Honor killings perhaps?!

Anyway, I honestly laughed when I saw the picture..but if the people are still having issues when they can speak out and complain, how much of luck do you think animals have?

“Kuwait problem is the Bedo”…

wth…just blame it on the Bedo? like what lil ****’d up spoilt 7a’6ar kids don’t start dog fights? Bedo starting dog fights is one thing…but catching them selling dogs in Friday Market is another thing, they’d never do that, if you knew anything about bedo you’d know that they wouldnt wanna be caught in public with a dog yet alone selling one!

I feel bad for the poor dog, and yea they really should do something about them like have the Animal Humane society of Kuwait come around the Friday market and take away and rescue any animals in distress.

But having someone say something like Kuwait’s problem is the Bedo is messed up. Sad how some people have a shitpile for brains.

Oh yea and Mark…are you sure that was spray paint?

Because there’s this blue spray we use on our racehorse’s if they get cuts. It’s an anti-inflamatory anti-biotic spray.

Am trying to be positive here…the owner might have sprayed it on any of the cuts on the dog’s face.

I always “wanted” to go there too. Just to see how it is here.
Oh man, …, I don’t know if I can take it though.

Poor thing ๐Ÿ™

Damon is right, that one was in the Kuwait Times a few days ago.

@Croco – only because you don’t give a damn doesn’t mean the rest of us shouldn’t.
Why do people always try to tell other people what they should talk about and what they should care about?

Yes, it’s bad and sickening what happens here in the ME every day, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care about animals.

Jst lookin at pics like this kill me
we saved a dog here and sent him back home…
the other day, saw this article on Arab Times about them killing stray dogs and leaving them to rot in the desert..
Really painful…this country has soo much money….im sure they could find a way to take care of these animals..
But then again…look how they treat humans..

seriously, if they dont place value on human beings, i think the dogs luck ran out a long time ago when he was unfortunate to land in the region. Either way, i think hes got it better than many humans in the region.

And theres an animal bureau? what a joke

oh it was in Kuwait times? all Kuwaiti people here always knew about this and are okay with it , i guess they are showing this side to non Kuwaitis now to make them try doing something about it, good luck though…..

Kuwait needs to cover a lot of ground as far as morality and ethics are concerned. They need educated expats who can pinpoint whats lacking in their society and help them to a path of better society. This is because those who grow up in a particular culture are used to everything it offers, the good and the bad. Same goes for kuwaitis.

Yes the spray is the same we use for the horses…if they cut them self, we use a spray that looks like spaypaint… but of course the dog is in the wrong place , because you never know who is going to buy it…it might be some one who dont know how to treat a dog like this… trained to kill and fight other dogs..
It is a breed and owner I dont want to meet on the street… thats for sure..

I would like to say that the animal marked as been improved since last year…the cats and dogs are kept in better conditions, but for sure it has a long way to go before it reaches accepted standards…

I have noticed that Kuwaities in general has a very cruel approach to animals, I have seen kids trow ducks and chickens around like garbage…
Why dont the partents teach them that all animals are equal… just like the maids and labours the consider their slaves…
Kuwait has a long way to go….

Please if any of you really want to help these animals PAWS is a non-profit orginization in Kuwait that is helping to protect animal welfare. They are in desperate need of help from people like you. If you can donate any old washing machines, dog/cat food, money, time or anything u might think they could use it would be greatly appreciated.

We have received a dozen pit bulls since Animal Friends opened, and everyone of them had been used for fighting, just like the animal in the picture. The last one we received had his teeth filed down so he could be used to train the new fighters without harming them, and most of his head was scar tissue from so many losses. There is nothing hidden about the act of dog fighting in Kuwait either. It is sometimes conducted just outside of the market. One of our volunteers broke up a dog fight just outside of a mosque a couple of weeks ago, right after prayers. Dog fighting is a serious issue, and not just because of the obvious animal cruelty involved. Dog fighting is always closely linked with gambling, drugs, and violence–issues which clearly lend themselves to the problems facing humans here.

It is impossible to prioritize human welfare over animal welfare because the two issues are invariably linked. A person who will thoughtlessly harm an animal is a short step away from casting aside the sanctity of any life form. Abuse of animals is directly and scientifically linked to child abuse and spouse abuse. To think that we can improve human welfare without improving animal welfare or the other way around is simply ignorant. What we should be doing is educating our children about compassion and kindness, both to the animals that are so prevalent in our early development (cartoons and such) and to the people around us. Save an animal and save a person…it shouldn’t be any other way.

Animals enrich our lives, both physically and emotionally, and we should all feel obliged to return the favor.
