Another new Guinness World Record for Kuwait

Another day another record. This time it’s for the most expensive camel in the world.

A camel named Bedour entered the Guinness Book of Records when it was purchased for 2 million dinars cash after the seller refused to take a cheque or ATM card during the Safat Camel Auction in Sulaibiya, reports Al-Shahid daily.

According to the seller, the camel is expensive because it’s unique and exceptionally beautiful, which makes it different from other camels and on par with camels the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions rode. He affirmed that this revelation is verifiable and has already been established. Therefore, the camel is worth the amount he collected from the purchase, the seller noted.

He reiterated that the value of the camel has nothing to do with quality of its meat, hyrax, milk or urine but its offspring and byproducts. He said the buyer will recoup the KD 2,000,000 with huge profit, stressing that mere onlookers were surprised that the camel had been sold for 2 million, which is almost enough to buy a private jet and way beyond the prices of latest automobiles.

He claimed the camel originates from camels the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions owned. He also said the buyer could insure the camel just like human beings, cars and houses, even though he refused to mention profit he made through the deal. [Source]

KD2,000,000 cash!

Thanks Tuan

It’s called money laundering in it’s purest form. Quite known in the Camel market here in Kuwait. You would be surprised who buys some of these camels.

well i wouldn’t mind paying 2million for a car or a watch for example (if i had a billion of course) but 2million for a perishable item like a camel? don’t think so.

The average lifespan of a camel is 30-50 years (just looked it up). So they might out live their owner. If well taken care off they can definitely reach that lifespan.

And camels are hardy, my uncle used to be a pigeon racer and he bred his pigeons. Some of those pigeons would sell for thousands of KD. One bad bird flu and it would be dangerous for an entire pen of pigeons so thats 1000s in liability.

Technically it’s not perishable, he paid that much because it’s good breeding stock and will have good offspring. Kind of an investment, he could probably charge more for camels from that line.

Once you breed an animal you actually keep making profit. You can even freeze their reproductive fluids and sell them or use them later. AFAIK, In the US & UK, it is common to sell shares for a racing horse. The profit from breeding and racing is later divided between the shareholders.

In that sense, a car or a watch is actually more “perishable” than a breeding animal since they are not able to produce any offspring.

2 Million Dinar for purchasing the Camel
and more millions for taking its care,
I am sure He wont Be buried when he dead, rather they would keep his bones as a Museum show piece.

“He claimed the camel originates from camels the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his companions owned.”

Even the camel says it’s Sayyid lol

Just wondering on what basis did the seller prove that this camel originates from the camels of prophet or his companion ?

Yeah, how exactly did they establish this camel’s claimed lineage? How does this work? Skeptical hippo is skeptical.

Horses are also expensive and 2million for a well bread horse is cheap … I am not surprised the camel was sold for 2mil kd … Just to let the camel bang a female camel will cost thousands succesful or not. Same with horses and dogs etc… The owner of that 2 mil camel will get his money back easily.

Mark an easier thing to do would be to find the ugliest sheep since they are profitable too and if you really need help you could find many on the Gulf Road Lool I’m joking

Gee, I wonder if this off the record transaction has anything to do with the corruption plaguing the country. I wonder if we will here about another crooked politician that will also claim that he found 2 million kd in his mom’s closet after she passed away.

O_O! GOD help us. how can other people save Millions and Billions dinar while we work our ass off day and night but still cant even save 10KD at the end of the month. 🙁

Hahahaha wtf you guys money laundering on a camel Are you serious? Ye3ny kuwaiti style laundering on a camel … Either he’s stupid or something majorly wrong with him to money launder 2million KD on a camel.

Its not money laundering… Think again.

Lol that’s the worst way to make my money look legal on a camel the whole point of money laundering is to not get caught and keep a low profile..

Because you don’t want officials investigating how you got the 2mil in first place.

LOL ironically me and other bankers were talking about the stupid parliment members who were depositing the cash in their account. and we were thinking why wouldnt they spend it on Camels since its fine to buy a camel for a million or two. i guess its happening. HELLO money laundey

What else are you going to launder in? If you buy a business, or land, or put it in the bank you leave a paper trail. If you buy a camel and someone asks “where did your money go” you just say oh camels, I dunno man, whatever

“He reiterated that the value of the camel has nothing to do with quality of its meat, hyrax, milk or urine” ???
Is camel urine normally valuble? What is it used for??

Duke: Do u even know what the term “money laundering” means ? Google it..

Shakoo kuwaiti style ?.. These ppl buy expensive items with CASH whether its a camel/horse/jewelry with money they made from selling drugs/alcohol coz they cant just take 2MM KD to the bank. The guy that bought this expensive item will then sell it to his buddy that has 2MM KD in his bank account, therefore he gets his 2MM KD back laundered and the cycle goes on. ” He said the buyer will recoup the KD 2,000,000 with huge profit” doesnt say anything about breeding camels..

Mark, its funny you posted about corruption a few days back..

Rick James it seems like your an expert drug lord …

Let me teach you something here. Why would an idiot try to money launder a 2million on a camel don’t you think it will raise alarm bells ? If Idiots you like already found out he’s money laundering don’t you think the experts wouldn’t investigate how he got the 2mil in the first place …

Just to let you know that corrupted people in the world try to minimize the risk of getting caught so they money launder carefully into realestate, retails, casinos, resturants and offshore doggy banks. By doing that they still get caught easily … So if this guy money launderd 2mil on a camel he’s the dummest criminal on the planet they should put his face in guiness book.

it’s corrupt because it’s expensive?

There should be more proof than that. People turn their prejudice into facts.

Believing God without proof is a personal thing between you and God. However believing in slander and lies about other people is demeaning to the whole institution of what an witness is worth in legal terms. It also hurts the individuals reputation. In the states if they could prove that false accusations disrupted business you could be sued.

So in theory you could be sued over a multi million KD business.

I think if people are that gullible, and prejudice we should just not take any witnesses seriously. How can we take their opinion as the truth when they lack the mature sense to be rational adults to know how to seperste fact from fiction in the real world affecting real people.
