I have a post from back in 2005 where I mention that shipping 4lbs with Aramex’s Shop & Ship would cost KD7. Today the same weight according to their online rates calculator would cost KD11 not including the KD2 customs tax. The total with the customs tax is KD13 which is nearly double what we used to pay back in 2005.
I miss the old Aramex. Back when I joined in 2001 it would literally take 2 days from the time the package shipped from the States for it to be in your hands here in Kuwait and they were much much cheaper.

It’s normal for prices to go up. You forgot about inflation?
Oh and its not only aramex that takes too long to deliver packages to customer hands. DHL, FedEx, and other couriers also take time clearing packages from customs so why are you blaming it on Aramex?
The total rate of inflation from 2005 to 2011 is around 27% meaning if it cost KD7 in 2005 today with inflation the price should be KD8.9
thats the total rate of nflation in the economy. It does not necessarily mean thats the inflation rate in the value chain systems.
each company has its reasons. If the client is not happy he should simply switch. thats what i would do if i were you.
Well some people choose the easy way out by switching but personally I would rather stick with a brand I like and try to make it better.

This is really annoying. As u said, the old days were very nice. Unfortunately, there is no good alternative. As a result, I am not ordering as much as I used to.

If the prices were going up, yet service was getting better, it wouldn’t be as big of a problem.
However, the service keeps getting worse and worse to the point you might as well choose international shipping from the original store itself. Especially now that some stores offer free international shipping.
UPDATE – I went to Aramex this morning to pick up my pending packages and have a chat. They informed me that this is a new stamp fee charge imposed by the government and that it applies to all courier companies. They also informed me that customers are irate (Ya right!) and some have already closed their accounts. There is not much they can do but go along with what the customs is demanding, beside the fact that they now have a backlog of 5000 packages awaiting delivery.
yes that is true, I have a friend who ships with MyUS and the new KD1 stamp applies to all couriers including DHL, FedEx, UPS etc..
I think Aramex and Kuwait customs are getting greedy.
For one of the richest countries in the world, surely selling more stamps is not going to make a big difference. Do these people have revenue targets ? , or just want to impress their boss when they do this. I wonder where the KD 1 and now the KD 2 actually goes when the courier delivers it to them.
most probably if it is an official applied it goes back to the country’s budgetary, if it wasn’t official…..the biggest pocket there is :p
btw it’s not always customs, because customs also gets lobbied by the chamber of commerce. they don’t want you to buy from outside.

Not Slower Compared to Today`s Aramex Wake up Dude it takes nearly a month for a Shipment to Come, unless its a Document it will take at least 1 week to reach Kuwait and another week if your lucky to get out of customs talk about taking ur Shipment in the Third Week is this Fair ? Why its Called Express Shipment, Cargo vs Express the difference is Days now NOT Weeks !!!

I said Nearly a Month me and my friends we get our shipments at the third week, this is not how aramex used to be, Why everything is changed ? we take more money u get ur shipments later, ISP we take more money u get capped WTF is happening ? WAKE UP People fill a complaint!!!
PostaPlus is cheaper yes but the slowness makes me want to kill them. I ordered 3-4 packages through them and each and everyone took 1 month + to get to me!

Isn’t the problem with Kuwait Customs and not with Aramex – am not defending Aramex here, they certainly have their flaws..
UR Absolutely Right the Problem relies on Customs and Rest of Airport Depts, Why do We Pay 1 KD for Global to Know Where Our Shipment is, why don`t Kuwait Airport Implement This Already !!, the Buissness man behind this will get broke !!, another thing Why We PAY 2 KD to Pay the Customs, THIS is Absoloutely a JOKE !!! I think I will open a MyUS account. Do they deliver to your door? Do you use your home address where you actually live as opposed to a P.O. Box? What about cost, speed vis a vis Aramex?

Talk about good timing! I was literally 5 minutes away from getting a relative to send a package to my Aramex mailbox in the UK.
This has made me look again at the competition.
People in US r really lucky they get free shipping and best deals, we can be exactly like them if we apply international trade policies but unfortunately that is hard to apply because monopolist will make much less money

Kuwait Businesses are the biggest winners in all this. They’re pushing for these legislations.
Guys Dont forget the oil increased in the past days thats why they increase yhe prices.
The price of oil has nothing to with custom’s stamps unfortunately.
We just have to wait until some VIP’s iPhone 4S gets stuck in customs, then the articles will appear in the local papers with the grilling of the ministers, etc. etc. – give it another 2 weeks and then MPs will start with their accusations of corruption at the highest level and Arab Spring in Kuwait, then another 2 weeks or so and things will calm down again.
So by Christmas time it should all be back to normal.
I wonder if the prices still the same since 2005.
