After reading the post below by Nibaq on The Local Egg Crisis I am suddenly very disgusted by Sultan Center. I just recently noticed that we have an egg problem, I had heard something about an egg crisis from a friend but only when I was at Carrefour this past weekend and noticed their eggs section was completely empty that I realized how severe the crisis was.
I do all my shopping at Sultan Center and awhile back I noticed they were suddenly getting eggs made in India. I decided to get a pack and later in the evening while making dinner I cracked open a few eggs only to find some strange black stuff inside some of them. It was really disgusting and I ended up throwing away the whole pack. I now don’t buy eggs from India and instead buy the more expensive locally produced organic eggs.
After reading Nibaqs post below I just found out that the fresh eggs Sultan are selling are NOT fresh and instead are over a month old! Thats really gross and no wonder the eggs I got were rotten. I usually don’t keep anything in my fridge for long and to find out that the eggs from Sultan are a month old is just shocking specially when eggs last only 5 weeks. Sultan Center should do what Carrefour is doing and not bring in Indian eggs at all! I would rather see the shelves empty instead of buying eggs only to find them rotten.

Bad eggs ever where, I saw some strange yellow stuff made me puke
Indian eggs are crappy black stuff yellow stuff .
Barffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
yuck, I am giving up on eggs.
I always buy the organic eggs imported from France. They cost more, but you get proper big eggs with deep golden yolks. The local eggs around the Gulf have very pale yolks. That’s just my preference. When it comes to veg, I always prefer to ‘go local’.
Its time for us all to breed chickens at home 🙂

By compete coincidence I have had no breakfast for weeks now, so I didn’t realise there was any crisis until I read it here.
Uh, I guess I hope they resolve it or something.
This is a test from Allah to see if people become weak and switch to pork.
mark, I always have a problem with eggs especially that it is one of the main product for my shop and use 6 trays daily.. My choices are 1. Kuwaiti 2. Saudi (Radwa farm) 3. French.. Trust me on this!
I dont remember the last time I had eggs
please if ur so against indian eggs dont blame sultan center, blame urself. i personally would never buy indian eggs simply by just the name never buy asian eggs ,,u remember bird flu? it comes from asia!! (india and fareast countries) . I advise u to buy from naif shop in jabrya next to beiruti restaurant. they give u fresh new eggs and they actually tell u when was it really produced!
rotten eggs or 1000 year eggs are a chinese delicacy.
Last month I bought eggs from Sultan Center, Sultan brand, they were free-range eggs and the shells were really hard, not delicate like they usually are. The eggs themsevles weren’t as white but they tasted great.
I hate to pay so much for eggs but when I’m out of choices, I’ll get the French organic ones.
And can we please buy eggs without bird poop on them please?
i usually get nacho dip from sultan center in sog sharg and most of the time the expiry date on on the arabic sticker (which shows couple of months left) is fake and the true expiry date (printed under the brand tag) is due couple of months earlier.
A long time ago i was in the chalet and we wud always cook eggs 4 breakfast.. so we opened a couple of eggs until we find a little CHICK!!!
it was sooo discusting now i dont even eat eggs!
screw indian eggs. I’m waiting for a resolution of the egg crisis. Meanwhile, no eggs for me please except kuwaiti ones.
Holla: I switched to pork before this, will Allah still love me? 🙁
Arsenaliya: You do know that chickens come from eggs, right? This happens occasionally. It’s not a big deal.
I use the French eggs, despite the ridiculous cost. They taste a whole hell of a lot better.
tried the Indian eggs once and they were really bad, they were probably rotten, I’ll never know. I usually buy Natureland organic eggs and I think they cost about 1.850 kd for 6 eggs only. They taste really fresh and no bird poop on them that’s for sure.
Just read a few of the crappy comments on Indian eggs: just what you would expect from myopic misinformed people. As the post makes it abundantly clear it takes more than 4 weeks to ship eggs from India and by that time even the “pristine eggs” from USA or frigid Denmark or Sweden would be rotten. And people in India are NOT accustomed to eating rotten eggs! As for India being a hotspot for bird flu, no cases have so far been reported in India and to assume that it is one of the hotbeds just because it is in Asia spanks of crass ignorance. Please take care before you dismiss an entire country with generic comments. And to think that Kuwait had a proud heritage of trade with India only to be washed away by the petro-economy, well, money does make you ignorant!
Well the way i see it..is Sultan at least tried their best to provide their clients with eggs as opposed to carrefour? empty shelves? and how did you find out that the eggs were rotten? did you ask the staff there and they told you that or you just assumed? because im sure they cant check every singe egg and break it to see if its rotten or not. Then again as i know everything is monitered closely by the government and they wouldnt have allowed the rotten indian eggs into Kuwait.
Lina if you read my post you would know that I found out the eggs were rotten because when I cracked open a few eggs there was black stuff inside.
And also, its better not to sell customers any eggs at all instead of selling them old or rotten eggs.
Mark, I read your post and the thing is you are still assuming regarding them as in Sultan selling you or their loyal customers rotten eggs. Sometimes even when an egg is fresh you’d find bad stuff like the black stuff you found inside….it doesnt mean it is rotten but something went wrong with its making….so until you get proof that the eggs were expired…to me you are still assuming 🙂
I am not assuming, my eggs were rotten and other people have had the same experience plus as Nibaq said the eggs from Indian are 4 weeks old when they arrive to Kuwait so they aren’t fresh.
And who is Nibaq?
Someone who knows about eggs in Kuwait more than you.
https://248am.com/nibaq/kuwait/the-local-egg-crisis/
and where did the expert get all the info from?
I suffered a very bad case of food poisoning from eating eggs from Sultan Center…
I agree with Mark, do not sell expired food…period.
I have read all articles put out about Eggs crisis. There are some truth and lot of misconceptions about eggs among people. Firstly most of the established Egg traders in Kuwait import eggs from India and other countrieis without bearing stamp and repack here after putting Blue color stamp on it and sell as kuwaiti fresh eggs.Genuine Egg production in Kuwait is very nominal contrary to Government claims. No farm in Kuwait feed chicken with vegetable feed 100 %. Without much ellaboration, Egg business is a big mafia game monopolised by big fishes here like Sugar. Importing brazilian and repacking under ‘German’ origin. I was surprised to learn some Japanese that they import Pork to Kuwait in the name of ‘Chicken’ !! Good bless Kuwait and it’s People.
