Better than tickets

Whoever started this car window sticker trend in Kuwait is a genius. I think I first started noticing them at Marina Mall but now other malls in Kuwait are using it and even universities. Basically how it works is if you park in a place you shouldn’t park (handicap spot, over the curb, black and yellow etc..) you get a sticker stuck on your window telling you not to do it again. Doesn’t sound too dramatic but you can’t really just peel those stickers off your car since they tear apart and look horrible. Because it’s actually pretty difficult to get removed is why this is so smart.

Many people would rather get a ticket than get a sticker which is why I think cops should start using these. Anyone caught speeding? Give them a ticket AND stick this on their window. Car illegally parked? Give them a ticket AND stick this on their window. I think it would work.

I think they are not being utilized well… why stop at one sticker per car? I would have stuck a sticker at every window PLUS on the front window smack in the middle to annoy the driver whenever he feels like driving. that way they would truly think 1000 times before parking wherever they feel like it!

Well, why not?. You only need 3 pre-requisites.
1. Camera
2. A printer to print the PDF file available on the site.
3. Ability to handle a confrontation if the offender appears on the scene and decides he doesn’t like what you have done.

I live in Hawally and have to go through this nuisance almost everyday i.e. Some fool parks his car in my allocated residential car park. I have this “No Parking Sticker in A4 size” and which I stick to the Front Windshield with “Fast Glue” – Happy Peeling ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s a brilliant idea those stickers are so hard to remove that you’d probably spend all day removing half of it

This really is a good idea. I saw a few stuck recently too at Marina mall and someone trying to peel it off but couldn’t. It was half torn. hehehe

More work for his/her slave at home I guess!!!

If you use any type of soda normal temperature and wait till the sticker is completely wet (absorved the liquid) its easy to remove with any type of card… old credit card, those plastic telephone cards, hotel key even your company or university ID.

Whether it’s easy to peel off or not I think it’s a start and actually think it’s funny how pissed off ppl get when they see one on their car- should stimulate some sense into them hopefully!! Great idea!!!!

i totally agree mark…that’s exactly what i thought when i saw these stickers..they’re more frustrating than a ticket which makes them more effective!

the stickers are a good deterrent I guess but what really needs to happen is people need to realize there are No Parking zones for a reason. never fails somebody has parked where they are not supposed to and makes it almost impossible for me to get outta my parking spot or pass thru traffic … for their convenience they sure do INconvenience so many others.

This has been on in Gulf University for years now. Unfortunately it has not stopped students from parking in illegal spots. But the agony of removing a sticker that might rip and stay stuck on your window is worth it.

In some cases these stickers have caused a problem since a student in university parked illegally and had a sticker on his car but as he exited the university he failed to see the car next to him and met up in an accident. I believe that he sued the university which isn’t great!

And a friend told me once – When you get a sticker stuck on your window thats fine – don’t peal as if you illegally park again they don’t stick another one on usually ๐Ÿ˜‰

These stickers don’t cover the whole window, so it’s still the drivers fault for not noticing the incoming driver (I’ve had experience with these stickers, but in Lebanon).

And the stickers should have dates stamped on them, from what I remember. They do.

With over one million cars inside of the sixth ring road, there actually is no place to park. Drive around and look at all the illegaly parked cars then look for the nearest parking lot, it is either extremly full or non existant, i dont blame the drivers for the shortcommings of the govt and private sectors not planning correctly for parking

And what’s the excuse for parking in handicapped zones, careless misaligned parking or parking in the middle of 2 spots at malls, the airport, hospitals and generally everywhere else when there is parking freely available?

These are really easy to remove, especially in Kuwait since they just stick to the thin layer of dust formed on the car and peel right off. No one is losing anything except the people that keep buying them in bulk for hundreds of KD’s! Nice try, maybe next time? LMAO.

What they need to do is stick it with super glue on that nice fancy body work .. nothing pisses one more that the fact that all that scrapping leaves nasty scratch marks on their fancy metallic paint jobs.No amount of soda hot or cold will remove that. Acetone maybe but then you end up with a nasty discoloured patch in the paint work. Either way your paint job is fucked!!!Now thats a dtererent !!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Funny and awesome idea. I’m expecting a friend to get one of those stuck at his expensive car. He keeps taking two parking spots ’cause many stupid people open their car doors like a maniac and hit the next car. But that’s not an excuse, you could easily go park somewhere far where people do not park! Look at the bright side, you burn more calories walking the distance.

They were there long time ago, the baladiya used to stick them on dusty, forgotten cars parked for a very long time, some of them have 2-3. After a month or so they come and tow it off.

The University I go to uses them when cars are parked parallel in the no parking area and to be honest, I really don’t care. I almost get a sticker on my car EVERY day, no joke, and I couldn’t care any less. As I drive home I ask the houseboy to just remove it using soap and water (since its really hard to be removed).

Hey Emmas what will happen if someone from your university reads Mark’s Blog and takes my suggestion litteraly?? You gonna bitch slap your house boy for scrapping paint off you car ????

Hey Mark u do not have the right to tell the goverment what to do and what not to do the government has the authority to do what they think is right!!!

There is no excuse for not parking correctly, other than arrogance, ignorance and the usual “Ana Kuwaiti” BS.

I say make them bigger, and stick two. One on the driver’s side, the other on the windshield.

On the plus side, I have seen cops give tickets for wrong parking more often these days. The thing that boils my blood more than anything, is parking in the handicap zone when you are clearly not handicapped (except mentally). For these, I propose a large version of the universal handicap icon as a sticker, and plaster that on their car as well.

Some days I wish I had a old 80’s chevy (they are tough to dent), so whenever someone blocks my parking, I just “move” them out of the way and be gone.

Are stickers available in Arabic? Or Mark, can you or anyone translate:

1) You park like an Asshole
2) I park like an Idiot

into Arabic for me? I prefer stickers in both English & Arabic.

If it’s anything like the UAE, they need some kind of sticker gun that shoots out one of those nasty sticker tickets on the tailgating and speeding idiots.

Its indeed a great idea. I noticed these type about 10 years back in KISR (Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research)…..
