Blocking a street

There’s a building being constructed right behind mine in Salmiya and recently trucks have been coming, parking in the middle of the road and literally closing a busy main road way causing a lot of traffic in the area. I’m sure this can’t be legal (I think) so I was wondering, in a situation like this who would I have to call to report this closure? The only number I know is the 112 emergency number but I don’t think that’s appropriate.

They did the same thing in front of my building at 6am on friday! In addition to blocking the road, noise .. they also spewed cement all over the road.

Supposedly this is legal, but they have to get a permit from baladiya & do it during what you can call “off peak” hours (12 AM upwards).

That’s because they are SEA drivers and if you don’t enforce traffic laws on them they will do things like this – it is the MOI fault bottomline.

it has nothing to do with the drivers. Same construction site around a month back a driver got into a fight with someone at the building because he didn’t want to block the road but they were forcing him to do so.

I have the same issue in Jabriya. According to my landlord, the process is to go to the nearest police station and complain. They (might) come and caution the driver or establish that permits have been granted. After 3 complaints (and visits), you can go to the baladiya who will randomly patrol to ensure compliance. After I stopped laughing I decided I had to just live with it.

I went to the police station to complain about a water pump that was left running for SIX MONTHS night/day at a construction hole next to my building. They were de-watering. It was shut down almost immediately.

If it is blocking a road, I think you have to go to the police station. Would it be Rumaithiya for you now or has the Salmiya station re-opened?

salmiya police station was closed for re-construction for about a year. it re-opened a couple of months ago. Till then, everything in salmiya was transferred to rumathiya police station – source: i have a friend who works in moi

go over to the building being constructed, have a looksie at the advert stating the name of the architect, telephone number etc. given them a ring and tell them whats what.

if all else fails, head over to the nearest police station, easily navigated via GPS.

although its the place i grow up in and spent my childhood playing Football, Marbels and Hide & Seek … GAZZAH… (^_^)….

….

i wanted to say i hate the TRAFFIC in this place but i still love my old neighborhood…

Do you all think buildings get built magically? If there was an empty lot near by I’m sure they would prefer to pour concrete on the upper floors without complaint. The place you live in know im 100% sure it was built in the same way.
