Bomb scare at AIS… again!

Yesterday the American International School of Kuwait had a bomb scare when they got a phone call from someone in Spain telling them there was a bomb in their school. After all the students were evacuated it turned out to be a hoax. Today they had another bomb scare. It isn’t confirmed yet if it was another phone call but the rumor is, and again I want to highlight the word RUMOR here, is that a school teacher found the bomb today on the way to the bathroom and that’s why they were evacuated. Hopefully that doesn’t turn out to be true and stays a rumor.

Update: Looks like they did find something at the school, a box with a clock and random wires. Turns out it was a senior prank.

Update2: Here is suposedly a leaked photo of the fake bomb taken from Al Rai newspaper. Thanks Armani Exchanger!

I’ll try to stay away from all the rumors, i only want to voice my thoughts as a father of a kid in AIS.

we are talking about kids from 3 to 14 years old! why would anyone want
to put those kid through a scare like that?!
and 2. i am not taking my kid to school unless i see on the news that they
Cought the !@#$er who did this (even though it was not a real bomb)

if you think about it, yesterday was a phone call today was a bag or box or what ever was made to resemble a threat. what if there was a fire cracker or a sound is heard there could be a stampede people could get trampled and hurt very easily. help me out here, am i rite?

Those facts aren’t exactly correct. A bomb was not found. But a student reported seeing a black box with wires in the bathroom, and reported it. It is likely that this was a prank by one of the students, the day after a comb threat happened.

Just search everyone before letting them in….PERIOD! Not only will you eliminate “bombs” from entering, but all the things that are prohibeted by the law.

I think i cant confirm the ‘teacher finding a bomb’ thing but they definitely found something!… you could hear the bomb beeping when you passed the bathroom! they said they found a package of some sort though

Aaaaah… The “School has a bomb” prank… It NEVER gets old :P… I’ve been through this maybe twice back in my high school but the principle didn’t let us out; he just gathered us somewhere safe so bomb squad can check the place…

he should’ve let us go back home… i could’ve played PS2 back then 😛

im an ais student in grade 8…i need to know is it safe to go back there 2morrow??….cuz we have a ISA test (international student assesment) we were doing the test 2day be4 we were evacuated..the reason i would go back is the test nothing else….how many ppl r sure that there was a bomb in the boys bathroom and how do u know the yesterday phone call was from spain

eddy….how would a student!! get wires that looks like bomb wires and get a beeber….there is no chanse a student can do this…it can be some1 who visited the school and put it there

Hey guys. I am Dr. Goliath Brutananadilewski vice principal of AIS. I confirm that mr. Lowman’s statement is true. And I would also like to add that what happened is regularly irregular. hence we will be taking serious measures against those anarchists; I suggest they turn themselves in . If otherwise, we will not rest until justice is served!

The ‘bomb’ was made as a prank by one of the kids in the school.

It was hidden in the toilet and had an alarm clock attached to it.

In any other country, the kid would be arrested and put into prison; in Kuwait he will tell his grand kids about this hilarious prank in diwaniyas for generations to come.

Your English teacher should be fired. You “saw” the bomb.

Let’s start again, all over….

A B C D… go on.

mr lowman: for an AIS teacher you sure have great grammar and spelling skills! wow.. ur students must be impressed!

Mr Lowman, I do not mean to attack or anything, but I have to admit your credibility was zero before Dr. Goliath confirmed who you are, your spelling was terrible. I hope you’re not teaching English Language courses to any of the kids. 😛

On a more serious note though, Dr. Goliath, back when I was in high school here we had a kid who would trip the fire alarm, or call in a bomb scare every time we had a math quiz (this lasted for about a month and a half until the culprit was caught and explled, it happened about 4 or 5 times in total), I would think it’s most likely a disgruntled, angry or anti social youngster trying to get back at the administration or other students, but most likely did this to gain some popularity and bragging rights by messing with the “man”, and appearing as the cool rebel.

Good luck finding the bastard(s) out

I remember we used to laugh about it during highschool, if only we realized how serious and uncomfortable it really is, for the rteachers the parents and the country, we do not need any negative press as our tourism and foregin investment is bad already plus the effect it would have on our people as a nation. I urge the shortsighted students to stop posting false statements and look around them and think about it more than just missing a day of school.

plus i dont think this s the ais website so dont expect their to be some confirmation of school or off tomorrow, you could at least figure that out yourselves.

lmao this is actually hilarious, so easy to mess around with a school the size of AIS. I am laughing at this because all these bomb threats that usually go on are hoax! Fucking think about it, no one is going to call to inform you of a bomb planted.

Guy: Hello, listen you infidel, you have 20 minutes to clear the school, there’s a bomb!

Operator: OMG *hangs up*

20 minutes later a bomb goes on?

come on….

Both golaith person and mr lowman that have commented arent real.. they’re ais student. and the spamming is pretty annoying ;p

lol! It’s funny how toni figured out it’s the same person. I graduated from AIS, and those bomb threats sucked. It was a huge waste of time, and no ever got anything out of it!

Anyways, I called a friend who is a senior at AIS, he told me that another senior made the “Bomb”, which was basically a box with a clock in it or something like that, he told me who it was. But for some reason, no one went and told the office about him. I think it was stupid what he did, and immature.

I’m a student from bbs…. This happens almost evry year before a BIG highskool test!! ppl hu don’t study are the ones who call 777 oo tell then there’s a bomb. Just study ppl!!!

If this was CSI they would’ve been found by a hair or by tracking the IP or something.

Or possibly the floating feces in the air that stuck to their clothes when they put the bomb.

Hey all,

This story is only half true.

Yesterday was a bomb threat. A phone call was tracked and it was found that the number was a Spanish one. Today, AIS, void of both their high school principal/vice principal, were informed by a child that he heard something ticking in one of the bathrooms. They in turn went to the elementary school principal, who went to the bathroom to confirm what the child said. From there, they called it in after evacuating a few surrounding classes closest to the said bathroom.

The bomb squad was called, and alarmed at their findings. Before approaching it they took preventative measures and evacuated the children on to the lot across from the school. Some 1,600 kids, Pre-k through 12 sat outside while the bomb squad controlled the object.

It turned out to be an alarm clock, with well placed wires in a briefcase.

Which has also turned out to be a senior prank by one of the boys in AIS. It hasn’t been confirmed as to who that is yet.

Hope this helps!

1.Everything That Happened These Two Days Was A Senior Prank.
2.They Found A Box In The Bathroom, The Box Contained An Alarm Clock And Random Wires Around It And Coming Out Of The Box.
3.The Wire Was Connected To A “Fan”.
4. As A Student Taking The ISA Test Today, I Heard The Ticking Every Little While, But I Didnt Question It.
5. We Have School Tomorrow -.-

yea its just an alarm clock ticking
the eighth graders were taking an ISA exam and then the councler said if he can have our attention and that we all need to evacuate like yesterday =S then a lot of us were happy and some were like noo not again !
but i liked it =D
its probably just another senior prank
and we dont have a dr. gosfjrglrm watever
-an eighth grader =D

and they found finger prints on the “bomb” and their gonna take the finger prints of the students — i dont know how and i dont know if their gonna take the finger prints of all of the students —

i agree sebamboot, coz this kinda situations r alwayz done by loserz who want 2 skip examz @ highschool.
The principal is comfused, what will he believe??
they are RUMORS :@

HAHAHAHAHA They Are NOT Rumors, The Owner’s Secretary Told Us All The Details And What Truth Said Is All True, And They found Out Who Did It And That Person(s) Are all Being Punished.

That should be a jailable offence even if it is a senior- god when I was at school a senior ‘prank’ meant letting out the locusts from the biology lab to fly round the school….this is just damned silly.

Someone please explain how it could be the seniors when:
a) a number called from Spain?

b) the seniors had already pulled a prank for the year. They set off firecrackers that let out colored smoke…

This is weird. It doesn’t make sense. The Spanish number has not been explained by ANYONE.

there must be a reason as to why it wasn’t explained. A coverup perhaps?
After all newspapers denied the fact that the students even evacuated the campus. They said they stayed in school… Ummm … NO.

Explanation please.

okay, just to clarify things for everyone. I was in the bathroom the moment this happened. It is not real bomb as the teacher Mr. Lowman has stated it was just a prank. Nothing was covered up the school just took precautions and evacuated the school just in case. It was a prank there is nothing going on

This is very scary…the first day (bomb threat) was so much fun 😛 cuz we didn’t think it was something serious, but after today….WOW! my parents dnt want me to go to school tomorrow :\

Guys seriously everytime something happens everyone blames the seniors, why? because we get previleges,,I’m a senior & I was just as shocked & happy as everyone else was..
I’ve hanged out with so many seniors for the past two days & they’ve all been wondering about what happened..
I did hear, though, that the person who threatened was related to one of those drug-dealers/users who got caught in the schoool…I’ve actually heard that from more than one person/source.

some “ithara” controversy anguish dissapointment secrecy suspects perfect setup for an episode of “the mentalist” or “lie to me” mark i strongly recommend both series!

This is hilarious because I know half the people who posted comments here. I come home from university, thinking, “hey, maybe I’ll visit my old teachers today.” And then my mom bursts into my room, screaming “OH MY GOD THERE’S A BOMB AT SCHOOL!” I remembered that I’ve been through like 3 bomb threats and an anthrax threat when I was at AIS. It’s always some guy who wants to ditch a test, or thinks he’s cool or whatever.

At the end of the day, nobody wins here, guys. Whoever is making these alarming phone calls is no better than Scientologists or Nazis, or the Amish.

God damn the Amish and their backwards ways.

Nah, the Amish are cool. They fix cars, like on Sex Drive.

Good movie.

Where the hell was I going with this?

The Spanish number isn’t that hard to explain, some guy has a friend who is in Spain at the moment and asked him to prank the school for him. Simple as that.

…So Omar, mr. Lowman is actually a teacher?

Dear concerned parents/students,

Its OBVIOUS that its just a prank.

As for the questions inquired above ^^^ ” how can it be that a number from spain called them ?” or ” how is it that some students can get a hold of making something that would resemble a bomb?”

seriously, its The American INTERNATIONAL school….people have TONS of connections abroad and that phone call is clearly done as a favor for someone at school…

As for the making of the so called “Bomb” ..for a bunch of bored obnoxious 18/19 year olds….do you REALLY think that its going to be that hard to have access to some wires and fix it up into something complex-looking??

As for Mr Lowman and Dr. Goliath’s comments above ” ITS A REAL BOMB” and ” I SAW IT MYSELF”…its quite obvious that those are a bunch of students IMPERSONATING those teachers, and while the first one (Mr Lowman) failed to address the issue in a scholarly manner, Dr. Golliath’s character was impersonated/created to back it up in a more credible manner.

* this would just be my opinion btw*

To compliment what you’ve said AISforever, I graduated from AIS in 95…and even back the seniors were being blamed or even envied for a lot of the privileges…and with those privileges come responsibility.

Regardless of who is proven to have done this, senior or otherwise, the punishment should be severe.

One day they will fuck around with pranks and a real bomb will detonate. Then it won’t be funny.

We had bomb threats in NES all the time because some kids wanted to skip exams.

How many “bomb threats” in Kuwait turned real?

I bet none. Because if someone had the intentions of doing something horrible, why would they scare the target out of range? The whole idea is just ridiculous.

Yeah, but Zorbon, the AIS seniors today aren’t the same seniors back in ’95. Collective IQ levels have dropped severely since then.

Looks like AIS will be having a really short summer vacation if such “Bomb Days” keep continuing.

Statement of the School Director (taken from thier website):

February 10, 2009

Dear parents,

Early Sunday morning we received a bomb threat that turned out to be a false alarm. Based on AIS emergency guidelines, we:

• Contacted the local authorities
• Evacuated students according to their rehearsed evacuation drills to a safety zone

The authorities arrived quickly and carried on a complete sweep of the campus, which took around 3 hours. During that time, the police moved the students to a safety zone within the school campus and locked down the school. After searching the school, the police declared the incident to be a false alarm.

On Monday morning a student reported seeing a suspicious device in one of the boys’ toilets. The authorities were contacted and this time evacuated the students off campus. After a thorough investigation, authorities assured us that the device was a prank.

This morning, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Interior and the official Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Colonel Mohammed Hashem Al-Saber spoke to high school students at an assembly regarding social responsibility. The Colonel raised awareness of general security and citizenship.

We apologize for any anxiety and inconvenience this may have caused. Please be assured that our primary concern was and always will be the safety of our students.

Kindly note that we may have make-up days due to these events taken from designated vacation days on the school calendar.

Sincerely,

Samera Al Rayyes
Director

It’s understandable that the number from Spain was a favor, but how come the police didn’t find who the number belonged to?

a good buddy of mine goes to ais. and i was told the box actually contained spanish pornographic magazines. the sexually charged student used the clock to time himself and the wires to enhance his overall experience somehow.
hope this puts an end to all the outrageous rumors being posted on here.

here is what i think could have happened… hope it might help:
DAY 1:
1. a student called the school with a phone with a Spanish line.
2. the student terrified who ever he called and made that person tell the school to evacuate the students.
DAY 2:
1.a student/teacher took a bag with the so-called “bomb” and planted it in one of the toilets.
2. one of the teachers or a student(s) went and stated that there is a bomb in the school.
3. AGAIN, they evacuate and police search the school

IMPORTANT THEORY:
1. the teacher/student that found the bomb should be a suspect.
2. they can easily track the number by calling the Spanish embassy in Spain. WHY ARE THEY THIS LAZY?
3. WHY CAN’T A TEACHER BE A SUSPECT??
4. it may also be one of the MS students.

HOPE THIS CAN HELP :S… WISH YOU ALL LUCK…

hmm well ive read all the comments and it looks like the people who did the put and made the clock arent going to get caught and scaring them in the assembly wont help… i suggest that the school would talk about the future of AIS and themselves, make the students know that if they will ruin the reputation of AIS then when they apply to universities they will denie because of what school the student is in… not only for universitie… there are many more ways to explain what really would happen to the students future! this would be a very wise decision to make…

Wow, sometimes it really is funny to read other people’s conversations on this type of thing. Well, today was a normal day at AIS and of course the bomb threat discussion happened in a few of the classes but nothing too major except for a cop from a high rank in Kuwait coming and talking to us about the incident and telling us the consequences for things like this. First day was a phone call from Spain. Second day is still not fully guaranteed but from what i am reading here, it seems as though it is a student that has done this, but i have not heard, read, or seen anything happening from the students at AIS.

Okay, im a real student at AIS and all these facts i keep reading are bullshit, some guy had his friend at spain call from a PAYPHONE.
The bomb was real and it wasnt a teacher who planted it (i actually know who did it, and its definitely a student.. in high school), and there werent any pornographic magazines in the fake bomb!
Also, the student who found it shouldnt be a suspect because they are truly innocent in the matter and had nothing to do with it!
Please, stop making things up and ruining our schools reputation.

AisStudent, if you know then why didn’t you say anything to the police officer? Im an ais student as well in High School & i think you should speak up before you get involved ..

This discussion is going on waaaaaaay too long! There were two bomb threats in AIS on sunday and monday. Nothing ended up happening and everyone is safe, thank God! So, this discussion is pretty pointless and a waste of time!

Cuz, to be honest, its funny hearing all the rumors,e specially the one to do with the pornographic material in it or something.. I know that it is a big deal to have a bomb threat and even bigger to have two of them but it happened.. Know what i mean? We can’t change that fact. All that we can do is just thank God that no one was harmed and hope that the person/people in charge of what happened get the consequences that they deserve…

U GUYS THINK THIS WILL HELP?? my baby sister was crying like hell!! when i came 2 pick up that 5 year old she looked like someone beat her!!
when they find the person that did this, im gona press charges and i promise he’ll get 2-3 years in jail!! IM GONNA MAKE HIS LIFE A LIVING HELL!!

AIS 93

There is no Spanish Embassy in Spain. You either mean a Spanish Embassy in Kuwait or a Kuwaiti Embassy in Spain.

93?! seriously?

oo im sorry but i was trying to help and by the way im not that much of a wizz.. im just 14 😛 gimmi a break i was just tryna help… and by the way my dad works with MOI and there are alot of ways to track down anumber from all over the world..

its a non-real bomb, the bomb happened to be a fake one. the blew that device out and luckly it was fake. look at al-seyassah of feb 10, 09 or al nahar feb 10, 2009.

Wow i wouldn’t dream of doing this the guy got a lot of guts!!!

Isn’t it possible that the high school student bought a Spanish line and made the call from here? ( i.e he used a roaming line? )
And the bomb might have been real; maybe it just didn’t contain gunpowder.

its not 12 years, thats ANOTHER rumor. We had an assembly the other day (High School students) & the police officer told us that whoever it is is going to serve three years in prison & he’s also going to get expelled.

The bomb threat that took place on Monday 9th of February was not a senior prank. If one person in the senior class made an immature decision, this should not affect the rest of the class.

Clarification:
The bomb was not a senior prank!!

im not a ais student but i heard about this and if u r smart then u would think about it maybe the person hu did it had a spanish number becoz he visited spain before and he still has the line never thought of that rite???

btw im a kes student

if u noe hu the person is inform it u mite get a reward!!! infact u will

i am a AIS student all the kids was scared when the fake bomb on sunday and monday.on sunday we went to sand next to the high school drama class.on monday we went out of the school and went home because the boy called from his spain line and callled the police amd said their is a bomb.on sunday a girl called the police at 8:30 and said their is a bomb but the police didn’t belive and after they called again at 9:15 and the police belived her we all went home and their was dogs and police other staff.but i didn’t belive ah ah ah hah ah hah hah ah ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didn’t belive i know it was fake but a girl in my class arwa was scared.on monday the boy puted a fake bomb in the boys bathroom and the pre-k and kg1 and kg2 went and sat in the police station so they dont get scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is Ruby’s sister. It was NOT Ruby, you stupid idiot! It was Fitoo7. Ruby had nothing to do with it. You think you can get on public forums and accuse people of bullshit you know nothing about? Slandering someone’s name is against the law in some places. You’re lucky my brothers weren’t living in Kuwait at the time you posted this.
