Bus Routes Now Officially on Google Maps

Google just made taking the bus a lot easier in Kuwait by integrating it into Google Maps. You can now plug in your location and destination and Google will guide you to the nearest bus stop and tell you which bus to take, how often that bus comes by and how long the ride will be. Try it out yourself!

This has been there for weeks now I guess, I remember accidentally tapping the train/bus icon and was surprised to see it display bus routes a weeks ago. Useful feature!

At the bottom, it says
“Consider Careem” along with estimated time and price range for Careem.

And why is that surprising for you?

Its a standard feature for Google Maps elsewhere in the world. E.g. in most EU countries, GMaps provides you an option of alternatives such as Taxify, Uber, MyTaxi etc. along with estimated fare for different categories. Once you click it opens that app and you can complete your booking there.

Pretty nifty feature I’d say

Finally! May seem like a small step but I can defs see folk who have never been on a bus here (isn’t that fucking weird for a country??) to try em out. I definitely will give it a try when I cba to drive somewhere far

I keep saying I’ll try the bus one day. Like not even to go somewhere just as like a, I should probably know what a bus in my country is like thing.

Wasn’t this added because some students won a competition proving it could be done and someone put it in?

By the way buses are very convenient. Especially now that they’ve been added into Google Maps. CityBus also has a very comprehensive app. M

You either have a bus pass (paid monthly or yearly) or pay by cash. Ticket prices are 250 fils usually except for a few special routes that charge 350 fils.
