The idea is to shorten the distance it takes from Kuwait City and Shuwaikh/Doha Ports to the construction of the new areas/islands [ https://248am.com/mark/kuwait/kuwait-islands-project-2035/ ]

I’d assume its first main purpose would be for more efficient construction (Trucks carrying construction material from Shuwaikh/Doha port to construction sites up north without going through Shuwaikh and Jahra traffic while reducing the distance)

Eventually, and hopefully after proper maintenance after all that construction, it would serve as one of the main highways in Kuwait – connecting Kuwait City business area and Shuwaikh industrial area to the newly developing “hub”

No it’s not.
The original plan was to build Silk city and then see if it needed extra congestion help to build the bridge.

The goons went ahead and built while silk city is still in the concept phase! And they built it while ignoring the catastrophe of our road conditions! Imagine if that money was spent on our roads…

I guess some high up personal saw a great opportunity to make (steal) some money off of it

I’m sorry where did you get your info? Videos of the city of silk dating back to 2013 had the bridge in it. The part where it vooms into Kuwait, secondly it is being built by a Korean company so stealing is a minimum and lastly the city needs people to build it, I’m sorry are you expecting 3 buildings and a haress with some bakala called “cety of silc; Chainese ar welkam”. This is a mega city which will have important people building it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they banned public use for 3 years while lorries carrying equipment and materials go into the city till Mubarak al kabeer port opens. Looking back at my comments I fear my 3 buildings prediction will come true.

If the plan is still the same from the gov’t, they’re supposed to open together (this was said over four months ago though)

Wasn’t is supposed to open Nov 19, 2018, then for National day, the mid-March..? How sure are you that this is the date? Lol!

Actually if you check the link you shared you’ll see our bridge actually beats the “longest bridge over water” that’s listed there by a total of 10km. I think that’s how we have the longest bridge.

Hello Mark!

Any idea if motorcycles will be permitted on this bridge? Asking this because, there are some countries that prohibit motorcycles on their causeway-type bridges. Just hoping that Kuwait didn’t put similar prohibitions in place.

Josh

We could have a traffic jam on the 1st week of the opening, with everyone going there. Gulf Road will be empty 🙂

Just pray there aren’t any accidents and you get stuck in a jam smack in the middle of the bridge.

Owing to the high quality of drivers found in Kuwait I believe the fire department will spend quite a bit of time fishing cars and people out of the water.
