There’s a comedy club opening soon in Kuwait (the first?) and it will be called “Live”. The comedy club will be located in the basement of Discovery Mall and will seat approximately 200 people. It was originally scheduled to open up before the end of the year but due to some delays the launch will now most likely be in January. They’ve already got a big name Arab American comedian booked for their launch so should be interesting to see. I’ll post more details once I get them.

That’s actually awesome, Standup comedy has been making a big comeback in the last couple of years. Wonder if English or Arabic comedy would work better.
why not both? They can have Arabic comedy nights as well as English.
Yeah they probably well but eventually you’ll see it get popular with either one or the other I’m guessing, most of Kuwait is probably not bilingual enough to follow English and Arabic standup since usually it’s something where you need to understand the language pretty thoroughly before you get the jokes
What places have you been? I hate to use this defense but honestly if you hate it that much why are you here lol
I think what this country needs is a good laugh. Yes there should be English nights also because we need a laugh also. Kuwait is the most miserable place I have ever been in just look at the faces around you. I am hesitate that this was approved, seems too normal.
Fact is Kuwait is pretty fun place, and i know a lot of expats who enjoyed and appreciated their time in Kuwait and they never insulted it in anyway. If you really hate it, then why are u in Kuwait? You’re not really forced to be here, just move.
They’re on prozac.
well you’re the one who should be on it.
Also this is more important for local guys to jump into comedy rather than attracting foreign comics, those guys used to come over anyway and just have shows in a university or something.
very interesting! 😛
That’s cool i might perform there ;D
This is great !! I really hope they dont enforce shitty censorship rules and all that dcrap… defies the whole point of COMEDY…
I don’t know why I have a feeling that the performer will be Nemr Abu Nassar. If it’s him then I am certainly going.
I hope it’s Nemr… Or Wonho Chung maybe?
But Wunho is Korean 😉 I hope both they are both amazing but Wunho can relate to the Kuwaiti society a bit more.
Who’s the arab American comedian!!!???
I hope it’s not the Saudi fahad guy
&& yes, I do think everyything will be in Arabic
Love that this is coming! But I find the location a little bit strange… when I think comedy show I think not child friendly
Comedy Club = Avenues on a Saturday watching all those girls in the ‘latest fashions’ parade by .
And the skeletons with spikes on the head following them.
Thats pretty cool. We already have a long history of stand up comedy in kuwait; we just call them “masra7iyat” and the funniest parts are usually improvised. I bet a lot of that material will transfer over quite easily.
That’s pretty cool. Hope they don’t go crazy with ticket prizes, though. :/
I’ll go there and say “Taq emtaqaq” :p
Comedy clubs always work better with alcohol, the crowd loosen up and it makes for better interaction with the comedian.
Not sure how well it will work in Kuwait or how racy the comedians can be with their material.
But it is still a great step forward for Kuwait and i hope it is successful and well supported
Not really drunk crowds yell stuff while the comedian is performing more often
amazing ! i hope the comics are funny 🙂
I visit the site and i talked to the owner its amazing, I think this place will be an entertainment mark in Kuwait.
Now we need a place to perform live music and we’re set!
I hope they invite the popular Indian American comedian “Bin Laughing” he is a great comedian, his show is called “Allah made me funny”
His real name is Azhar Usman ,,, Bin Laughin’
I hope they serve cranberry juice…
Sweet so comedy isn’t haram! Next step dance club. I want to shake my white ass so bad
