Comedy Club Opening Soon

There’s a comedy club opening soon in Kuwait (the first?) and it will be called “Live”. The comedy club will be located in the basement of Discovery Mall and will seat approximately 200 people. It was originally scheduled to open up before the end of the year but due to some delays the launch will now most likely be in January. They’ve already got a big name Arab American comedian booked for their launch so should be interesting to see. I’ll post more details once I get them.

That’s actually awesome, Standup comedy has been making a big comeback in the last couple of years. Wonder if English or Arabic comedy would work better.

Yeah they probably well but eventually you’ll see it get popular with either one or the other I’m guessing, most of Kuwait is probably not bilingual enough to follow English and Arabic standup since usually it’s something where you need to understand the language pretty thoroughly before you get the jokes

I think what this country needs is a good laugh. Yes there should be English nights also because we need a laugh also. Kuwait is the most miserable place I have ever been in just look at the faces around you. I am hesitate that this was approved, seems too normal.

Fact is Kuwait is pretty fun place, and i know a lot of expats who enjoyed and appreciated their time in Kuwait and they never insulted it in anyway. If you really hate it, then why are u in Kuwait? You’re not really forced to be here, just move.

Also this is more important for local guys to jump into comedy rather than attracting foreign comics, those guys used to come over anyway and just have shows in a university or something.

I don’t know why I have a feeling that the performer will be Nemr Abu Nassar. If it’s him then I am certainly going.

Who’s the arab American comedian!!!???
I hope it’s not the Saudi fahad guy

&& yes, I do think everyything will be in Arabic

Love that this is coming! But I find the location a little bit strange… when I think comedy show I think not child friendly

Thats pretty cool. We already have a long history of stand up comedy in kuwait; we just call them “masra7iyat” and the funniest parts are usually improvised. I bet a lot of that material will transfer over quite easily.

Comedy clubs always work better with alcohol, the crowd loosen up and it makes for better interaction with the comedian.

Not sure how well it will work in Kuwait or how racy the comedians can be with their material.

But it is still a great step forward for Kuwait and i hope it is successful and well supported

I hope they invite the popular Indian American comedian “Bin Laughing” he is a great comedian, his show is called “Allah made me funny”
