Kuwait Offers Video Games

Digumz Eid Offer

Last night Qaiss, the owner of Digumz called me up and he told me he wanted to offer my readers a limited time deal on the occasion of Eid. After a bit of discussion we agreed on a deal that would be cool for my readers while still being fair to him. Starting today and for 3 days only he’s reduced the KD15 monthly membership price down to just KD10. The offer is available starting from now and for the following days:

Thursday, November 3rd
Friday, November 4th
Saturday, November 5th

KD10 a month will allow you to rent as many video games as you would like as long as its one video game at a time. Your membership will also continue to renew at the special offer price of KD10 a month and not KD15. If you’re interested, here is the link to sign up [Link]

Its still much cheaper to just buy a game at 20kd, play it for 2 months, then sell it back at 8kd.

So I would only subcribe to Digumz if it were no more than 5kd per month. Otherwise, not worth it honestly.

If you’re playing 1 game every 2 months it probably is cheaper to just buy the game. But if you’re playing say 1 or 2 games a month or a game a week then it becomes a lot more expensive to keep buying games. When I first signed up I played 3 games in a week, I rented one, didnt like it, sent it back, got another, got bored, sent it back etc…

You have some cases where renting is cheaper than buying. For example in the past few months and in the next few months there are going to be a lot of good games released where it would make sense to rent some, instead of buying.

For example, El Shaddai, Rage, Forza 4, Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, MW3, Skyrim, Zelda and Assassins Creed: Revelations = 180 KD worth of games. If you’re able to sell them all back at 8 KD (which is unlikely tbh), you’d make 72 KD back.

Some games are worth owning for their value, while it would be more reasonable to buy some, rent some. When Digumz raised their prices to 15 KD, I thought that was a waste, because it’s barely cheaper than buying, but 10 is a pretty good deal for what they’re offering.

Just my 2 cents into the matter.

The thing is, games like BF3, MW3, Assassins Creed, ect. Are not games that you can completed in 1 month if you include/play their multiplayer. And much of these very popular titles are focused on multiplayer, sometimes more than their campaigns.

And for those of us who only play these popular titles, it makes sense to buy them for the long period since their entire value cannot be consumed within a month.

It is these games that recive tha highest sales, which therefor do not make them “rent worthy”.

Although I think its a great service, I just dont think it for the majority of gamers in kuwait. As an entrepreneur and business major my self, I would try a much different/stratgic approach then what Digumz is currently doing.

I do agree with you on some points, especially to regards to BF3 and MW3, but I felt Assassins Creed’s multiplayer was pretty weak, especially compared to some other games. From what I remember from AC II & Brotherhood, it’s not that difficult to beat in a month if you’re just playing that.

Games that focus mainly on a single player mode, like Batman aren’t worth buying for the long term unless it’s a massive game like Skyrim or Zelda.

Personally, I prefer owning games, I’ll go to Rihab and try to buy games used, but even that can be a hassle at times, so a service like Digumz could be useful if the price is right (15 isn’t).

Some good points.

I think the question we need to ask our selves is, do most people in kuwait play games that are “long term” oriented or “short term” oriented?

I would argue that gamers ages 15 and above play more “long term” type games than “short term”.

And if this is the case, then Digumz is marketing to a minority, which ofcourse is a waste.

Well keep in mind that there are thousands of games and the majority can be completed in just a few hours.

Not every game is a Forza or Grand Theft Auto and everyone is most likely to buy those epic games anyway.

I don’t think Digumz or any other rental place even makes money off these games since they spend too long with customers.

Call of Juarez III or Mortal Kombat for example are not worth buying but worth renting.

You should keep in mind that a lot of gamers are much older than 15 year olds, who grew up in the “golden age” of gaming back in the early to mid 90’s with the SNES and Sega Genesis. These older gamers who work and who might not have the time to necessarily go to Rihab every time a game is released, so Digumz is a great service in that regard as well. I remember there was some study made in the US where they found out the average age of a gamer these days is 31, which I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s similar here in Kuwait.

I also think the fact that Digumz constantly gets the most recent games is proof that they at least have a large enough customer base to stay afloat, they’re also a unique service here in Kuwait. I think there might be one other online service like them, but I’m not 100% sure on that.

Just want to add a note:

I recently subscribed to the Digumz service and i was truly impressed the way they work.

At 9:00 p.m i made the online payment, 9:15 guy called me from the Store and welcome me to join their community (i was surprised). He offered me his help in order to make a game que list and to explain some other features of the site (impressed once again). Moreover, they asked me to finalize the game list immediately so that they can deliver the game right away (which i was not expecting at all)

Because i am a Pakistani, i cannot guide someone my home directions in Arabic especially when you live in Hawally (where their are no street numbers, name etc). I asked them if they have someone atleast who can understand English, which will make me easy to guide him. In reponse Digumz told me that the guy who will be coming over understands English, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu In-short he is an Indian fellow (Half of my tension was already gone after hearing that).

After waiting for 20-25 minutes, the Driver called me and i saw a little Green color Digumz car with a GPS navigator inside (which really is a nice thing, impressed once again). I signed a contract and got my first PS3 game CD.

Over all i really like the service and i felt a pure professionalism from their each and every act. Digumz Staff members are highly cooperative and understandable. I didn’t face any kind of difficulty in talking with any of their staff member. Everyone know how to speak English as well, which was a MAJOR PLUS POINT. My best wishes are with them. Good Luck.

In the End i also want to pass my special thanks to Mark and UncleSam, because i think because of them only i am a happy member of Digumz.

I think true “professionalism” will stand out when they are over run by customers, instead when they are dealing with very few at a time.

Dear Jasim, What is the research that you have made to get this result that they have a few customers? Thank you

My point is not that they have few customers, My point is that an organization will show its worth on how it functions when under pressure.

More Drivers + More Cars + scooters = Digumz.com

as you said it’s impossible for anyone, but for digumz, it’s possible 🙂

And thank you for your compliment 🙂

I’ll consider their service after I’m done with Skyrim a few years from now. When that time comes I’ll also consider leaving the house. I hope they have someone who speaks Orcish. I wonder if they’ll let me barter with them instead of paying cash.

Damn straight. And I prefer Skyrim over WoW because it’s all offline and offers less social interaction and that’s always something I try to minimize as much as possible. In Skyrim you can even get married and have children so if it gets to that it would be really irresponsible for me to turn my ps3 off.

First of all, we would like to thank Mark for allowing us to offer his readers this special Eid offer and second we would like to thank those who have left their opinions and comments on this post, we welcome all of your feedback. We do agree with you, Jassim, Digumz.com is not for all gamers, and renting is still relatively a new concept in Kuwait, but we do find that the move from ownership to rental has become inevitable, people are shifting from buying and owning, to renting and consuming, not all fall under this category of course, but we provide this service to those who fall under the last category.
As for our services and commitment to our customers, we are pleased to have our customers satisfaction speak on our behalf (Umair Shaikh), and we just want to point out that we are simultaneously meeting the demands of both http://www.digumz.com and http://www.digumzstore.com and we are pleased with the feedback from those who have tried our services. We promise to continue to meet the demands of our customers no matter which direction our business ultimately takes, thanks again.

Digumz Team

Reason to rent over buying: My brother just told me about the new Batman game, I watched footage of it on YouTube and then requested the game from Digumz. Now it’s on its way and didn’t cost me anything 😀

Instead of encouraging them and posting some positive comments, all I see is negative comments and complaints from poeple that didn’t even try their service, or doesn’t need it.

Even though I’m not a subscriber with you, I would like to thank you for offering this service here in Kuwait.

When I get enough time to play games again, I will definitely join you, mainly because it’s a Kuwaiti bussiness, and I like to change games alot, which on the long run will be cheaper to rent them.

Many thanks to you, and good luck running your bussiness.

For $9.99 a month you can stream video games to your system. You don’t even need a good graphics card because you are using their server. As long as you have a fast net connection you are done.

Check out http://www.onlive.com

I think the comments about many modern games taking much more than a month to complete are very valid. This system allows you to play ANY game on their server for a single monthly fee and it will store your progress. Cloud based services are the way to go !!

I think physical disks will be on their way out soon with steam and services like the above.
