Donate video games to children in hospitals

Digumz is helping KACCH (Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital) collect video games (PS3 & Xbox360) for children all around hospitals in Kuwait. The idea started on the United Nations Universal Children’s Day but they’ve now made some adjustments to their campaign to make it even easier for people to donate games. Here are the options available:

Option 1
If you have 5 or more games you would like to donate (used or new), you can call Digumz on 25733040 and they will come by and pick up the games from you. If you have less than 5 games you can still donate them but you need to drop it off yourself at their store in Salmiya.

Option 2
You can purchase games from the Digumz Online Store by using the coupon code UNCHILDREN. When you use that code you will automatically get a 10% discount and the games will be accepted as a donation for the children and held at the store with the rest of the donated games before being sent out to KACCH.

Note: The coupon code works on PS3 and Xbox360 games only since those are the two systems available to the children. Also, the coupon is entered at “Step 5” in the payment process. You need to enter the coupon if you want to donate the games.

I know they’re trying to do something good, but why does a kid who owns an xbox or ps3, need donated games? I’m sure if they’re able to afford either, they already own quite a few games. Unless of course, the consoles belong to the hospitals,to keep the children entertained, and they have a shortage of games.

There are kids in hospitals who are there for the long term and who don’t own games, who have serious illnesses and whatnot. If you check KACCH’s website it says:

“It was founded informally in 1989 to help children and their families cope with the stresses of hospitalisation. It is managed by volunteers and funded by donations from organisations, businesses, banks, schools and individuals within Kuwait.”

Hi, thanks Mark for posting and supporting this event, and thanks for everyone who has left comments on this post. As for the children we are donating to, we should have mentioned that KACCH is non-governmental charitable organization, they help children suffering from cancer and other illnesses and their families, most of these children spend half of their time at the hospital, with testing and needles and they hardly have a chance to live their childhood. The hospital already has a Ps3 console, and we are donating two xbox consoles and Kinect, we may not be able to relieve them from their illness, but our small attempt is to bring a smile to their faces. We hope you join us in this initiative and donate whatever it is you can to these deserving children.

Hi Venq,
We really appreciate your offer and as much as we would love to accept this donation, the rating on Saints Row 3 is “M” for mature, and we are afraid it may not be suitable for kids. If you have any other games (basketball, soccer or child friendly content) we would be happy to accept it as a donation for the children in hospitals in Kuwait.
