Eagle and Owl Release

The above is the latest video by K’S PATH and below is the description:

This short film features the release of a Scops Owl and a Steppe Eagle. The owl was found being sold by children while the eagle was found exhausted on the beach, presumably having exhausted itself flying against the wind during the day. Our community responded wonderfully by calling K’S PATH and helping to catch and transport these majestic creatures. Both birds were promptly given a clean bill of health after being seen by K’S PATH veterinarian Dr. Madhulal Valliyatte. Thankfully, they were both released the following day.

If you find a wild bird in distress, call 6700-1622. If it’s safe for you and the bird, you can use a towel and cardboard box to catch it. Keep the bird covered in the box, in the dark if possible, and in a quiet place. Avoid heat and noise. You may give a bowl of water if necessary, but don’t attempt to feed a wild bird. The wrong food can be much worse than no food for a short time. Our phone is switched off at night but all missed calls are returned in the morning. A message will get the quickest response.

Let’s be a community that works together to take care of wildlife.

Sorry K’s Path, I had sent you emails of several stray dogs running free in Ardiya which could be taken care of and taken to a shelter. Not only did I never recieve a response, I doubt your organization even bothered.

abdou and Del,

I understand your frustration and appreciate your comments. You wouldn’t believe how many calls and emails we get on this subject. As I am responsible for our stray animal management program, your lack of response rests with me. I try to answer as many as I can, but it’s difficult with our operations tempo, especially since I don’t have a clear response for these inquiries.

There’s no easy answer for these packs of dogs. The service you are looking for is actually a government function, but the government does not fulfill its responsibilities for feral dogs and cats. K’S PATH, meanwhile, struggles to make ends meet every month; we are often in the red. We have taken it upon ourselves to begin offering animal control services wherever we can find the funding to do so. We are therefore performing these services for Kuwait Oil Company and Saudi Arabian Chevron. These programs are, however, non-profit, and there is simply no money to extend into other areas.

We do make it a priority to help injured animals and those in extreme distress whenever possible. We simply cannot provide free government-level services to the entire community. As an open door shelter, we will, however, accept any animal that is brought to us. Please be patient with us while we struggle to work with the government to develop a nation-wide program and continue to push for legalization as a government sponsored charity.

Volunteer orientation occurs once per month on the first Saturday. Announcements can be found on our Facebook page.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Great work! every year by the end of March I go to the animal market and buy as much as my budget allows me to all sort of migrating birds (shiryas, Trim, 7amami) and release them in the northen desert. I would love to participate in any way I can.

keep up the good the work
