Even the internet is on a coffee break

I’m trying to renew my Civil ID but the website keeps telling me to go and come back after 2! Why??

Hi Mark, The PACI civil ID system works only after 2pm. Try after 2 pm and both the online and the tel renewal works.

Mark, for last several years it is like that. May be they don’t want to overload their server in the mornings.

After years of living in the Gulf, you should’ve learned by now to stop asking “Why?” and just accept and move on.

Yea, Mark they could make the system function through the entire work day, but no, they decided it’s better to make it start from 2PM. It’s been like that since the beginning. But it only take one day to make the renewal, so no biggie!

After all the years living in Kuwait, is this the first time you have applied for the civil id on your own, how come you never knew bout this.

It is a ministry. You are not allowed to ask questions.

For expedited VIP service, stuff a 5KD note into your computer’s CD slot….

It has always been like that; it could be that renewal after 2:00 PM is for expatriates and mornings for Kuwaitis. Maybe this woud provide some computer utilization balance.(Just a guess)

Mark,

It will be activated only after 1400hrs.The system is programmed like that only.

But they could have activated that link only after 1400hrs, to avoid confusion.

Guys I can read. The question isn’t when it’s going to be active but more along the lines of why they turn it on and off. Computers don’t work shifts and they don’t take breaks, they’re supposed to work all the time.

Mark,

If I am not mistaken the link is active through out the work hours, but before 2:00 PM the system only accepts renewal requests for Kuwaiti nationals and expats are only allowed to submit their requests after 2:00 PM. I know it sounds stupid as the whole point of making the system online is to make the service available to everyone at their convenience.

But this is Kuwait.

Keep in mind this is only (supposedly) a temporary e-gov website. I have a few friends who are now working on a more functional e-gov. According to them, the new server/system will not only be used by citizens but also incorporate all the existing systems. For example, the traffic violations page will not only be used by us to check our violations, but also used by the MOI employees. (Right now the employees use a different system that syncronizes with the current e-gov website.)

I can safely assume that the organizational system only makes sense to Kuwaitis. I do all my iqama work myself in Dubai and it is very organized except for the typing centres where expats work there.

No it’s pretty self-explanitory.. Its simple and easy to use, and the new one will hopefully have enough server bandwidth to accomodate alot of people on the website running tasks at the same time without any lag. I’m not sure how easy it is for the iqama now, but I’m sure its going to be better after the new system is implented. My friends mentioned that the whole system will be set up to accomodate all the foreign requests as well (I beleive the majority of requests belong to non-Kuwaitis) It’s win-win (if it works)

As per the new regulation, your request will not process until you submit the envelop with your blood group result, 2 photos, civil ID copy and your passport copy. If there is no address change you can put it in the machine in thier recepition area.

That’s good. I cannot tell you how many people have wrong blood types on their civil-id. Worse than not having any blood type, its a mistake that can be fatal!

Also many people including myself have the wrong spelling in our name in English. I had numerous problems renting a car abroad. (Even though I supplied them with a passport copy, they still managed to get my spelling wrong.)

It is same like Maroor. They dont make daftar for expatriates in the morning ! Only in the evening!!

Yes it’s very strange indeed. They can just accept the request and place it in a queue or a batch file which would be picked up and processed by the system after 2pm, if their main concern is to minimize the load on the servers during working hours. They don’t have to tell the public to try again after 2pm…on an online application!

Mark if this is your first time, you are going to experiece a lot more annoying systems in renewing anything in Kuwait. This unfortunately is how life is here. It is like they need you to run around for their amusement and finally when you get their laughs, you get what you want. Yes this applies online as well :p
