Lack of creativity…
The ones who did this thought that Pan Arab market is not aware of the pc vs mac ads..
Did they do other ads for the same concept too?

Bazar, Fasttelco, who’s f*king next to copy? it doesnt surprise me anymore. is this what kuwait(NOT all) does best?

How can u have a comment / post like that man, especially being an Ad person urself.
If rayey lacks logic and trying hard to post i don’t see how u can fall for that.

For 1, if we ever see 2 guys standing next to each other it will mean it’s a rip of Mac? so i assume such a shot was never ever ever taken before Mac did ?, 2nd the creative implementation is developed from concept and addressed to the target set, so lets start with Mac Ad, concept and target are highlighted in the capture and the human element (Outfit, Age), serious old and boring MS vs. young aggressive and confident Mac so this is what the consumer understands from Mac, isn’t that what Mac is all about?, Now for FT, what on earth do u see as copy from Mac, the fact that there are 2 men in a photo ? in FT both are same age, both are wearing the national anthem, the difference they are trying to resemble that FT is PROPER, FIRM (look at the outfit & read what they wrote in the capture) in online business means undisturbed connection, established etc etc, vs. others that are messed up! doesn’t need a genius to figure out that is perfectly highlighted by the capture note. The only resemblance u guys build this argument was this ( 2 men standing in a picture next to each other with white background), if that qualifies to “copy cat” then the Ad industry is in big shit.

sorry guys, second rated

The whole copy-cat idea aside…

The guy wearing “shmaq” is supposed to be the “unique” one? Wtf? Since when did shmaq represent elegance?! It’s F-ing ugly so out-of-style.

A very reliable source told me that the TV’s are ready and will be aired during ramadan, apparently they did a quite a few.

guy on the left looks like he’s asking for a man-to-man kissing, guy on the right looks like he wants more than that. ** gay **

It’s true, that cannot be argued. It’s a chepo Ad and lacks any creative talent, which goes without saying.

it doesn’t really look like they copyied it to me, the PC vs. MAC ad uses a very easy to come up with idea. Two men standing, one says he’s good the other says he’s crap, typical ad. Tide ads? We are 6+ billion in this world, two people could easily think of it.

So I dunno on what basis are you accusing them of copying. Oh and I have never seen that PC vs. MAC ad till today.

On the other hand, Fasttelco sucks, very high prices, kinda stable though.

Bask and jajaja how could you not see it?

Two guys in front of a white background, one guy is an idiot the other guy is cool. The cool guy talks about fasttelco/mac while the dumb guy talks about the competition. Do you need to see the Apple logo at the end to realize its a copy?

if we use your flawed logic mark, that means that your critical blog is a copy of all the other critical review blogs that came out years before yours did. Just cuz 2 guys are comparing products in this fashion doesnt mean that they are copying the apple/pc ads that came out. In the states there are tons of ads that use a very similar theme which is normal. So now what? IF one of the car companies does an ad of its 4×4 racing on a winding road, does that mean they are copying another ad that had a car going down a winding road in the USA? Im sorry man, your logic is flawed….

ahlein this ad is based on the recent PC vs Mac ads which I am guessing you haven’t seen or heard of. There was a HUGE buzz surrounding them two months back and a lot of people have been spoofing them.

This fasttelco ad is a direct copy of the Mac ads. My advice is to actually watch a few of the Mac Vs PC ads before you comment out of your ass.

I won’t stand in Fastelco’s defense, but I won’t say that the ad is a blatant imitation of Apple’s either.

I’m usually in agreement with your scrutinizing eye, Mark, but this time I think that you should give them a break 🙂

nope not yet. could you post so we could make fun of them? lol… joke

but let us see their ads so we could “evaluate”

They are total losers! And I’m sure you know since you work in advertising, those losers who have the fasttelco account, also have KFH, and most of their ads are stolen too!!

i have to agree with Mark.

Advertising is not only 2 guys standing together, its about a concept.

In this case, The 2 guys standing together and demonstrating their case versus each other is a “Concept” which similar to mac and PC idea.

Someone commented that the clothes is different , messy and clean.. while in mac and pc .. its like Cool Causal versus Formal Business. Same again .. clothes concept!

So if its a concept or a script .. it still comes from Mac and PC ads.

Thats a killer Don.. i guess all those anti FT Ad guys needs a crush course in history or as you said
“new to the ad business”

Any chance you post a link for such course 😉

Ziza Don just pointed out the origin of the Get a Mac ads, this doesn’t excuse FT from copying the ads blatantly. There is a difference between getting inspired from an ad and copying an ad.

Mark i could argue that the origin of the Mac ads is the photo we used to see when we went to the BAKALAH to by sweets when we where young – 30 years ago for me- the A4 size paper had a sketch of 2 guys, a happy guy who sold his stuff cash and a miserable guy who sold on credit.

Does this ring a bell or your too young?

Mark I agree with you. I think it is a copy, however, I do not think it’s a poor one. I think even copying is an art by itself. I think the localization part was done properly. I would consider the “الخمطة بربع” to be creative in tackling the half KD and one KD offerings by FT rivals. Don’t you think?

mark if your agency did that one i don’t think you would be saying that about your co-workers now would you?

It isn’t only the agency’s fault; it is who approved the ad rather; however you can’t blame them since they haven’t got a Marketing manager.
