Firin Bakery

One of the guys brought cheesecake from Firin tonight to the diwaniya and it was pretty good. Like I had two slices good and it’s not even my cheat day. The only reason I actually ate it is because it was wheat free. And yes I’m still on my wheat free diet and I it’s been more than two weeks now.

I actually haven’t had any trouble staying off wheat. The only issue arises on my cheat day when I want to have dessert and end up with a lame chocolate bar from a supermarket because all my favorite desserts contain wheat. I also don’t feel more energetic or more focused like the book says I would feel. Or maybe I’m just not noticing. I don’t know will give this diet some more time and see.

Anyway all of Firin’s products are wheat free and you can check out their website [Here]

its in all in the head.. believe that the diet works and it will. personally, dont think i can do it.

too much of a hassle.

I’m just doing it out of curiosity. my diet for the past 2 years has been low on wheat anyway since i wasn’t eating that much bread so going wheat free wasn’t that difficult. Might give it 2 more weeks and see.

Drop all grains and get your carbs from fruits and green leafy veggies while maintaining an appropriate dietary fat intake (from sources like olive oil, coconut oil, and almonds). Then tell me how you feel. Give it a shot since you’re in an experimental phase.

Sounds good, but y u no eat fruit? At least get some berries in there. As for your energy levels, it’s gonna take a while for you to adjust. Keep at it and you will notice better energy levels. You will find it particularly noticeable once you have a high grain meal after a long layoff; you’ll crash and feel drowsy.

Placebo effect is a real factor, so is diet adherence. But in this case there are also legitimate physiological reasons as to why this works. Not all diets are equal.

Taking care of your health is a hassle, just like taking care of your car is. Everything worthwhile is a hassle, but that’s what separates you from the average person.

i think in my case my diet was already clean since i’ve been eating healthy for 2 years now. My carb in take was already low and my wheat intake was very minimal so cutting off wheat didn’t really change much.

Good for you bro. Now that you’re exercising and you’ve got your diet in check, the next big thing to address is stress. Try to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night. Meditate frequently; take 30 minutes a day to press ctrl+alt+delete on your mind. Stress alone can knock your hormones out of balance and throw a wrench in your wheel.

Another thing that’s been making a huge difference in my energy levels lately is a really high intake of green leafy veggies. I’ve been drinking a disgusting veggie shake twice a day and it’s been great!

I work in advertising and finish work around 7 and i’ve got this blog to run as well as my other activities. So I’ve got a ton of stress and no time to ctrl+alt+delete so that’s one thing i can’t do anything about.

Irrespective of what the experts and scientists debate among themselves, I think the best thing for a lay person to do is to experiment and see what works (provided you at least sift through some scientific literature casually just to weed out the completely ridiculous approaches, like a “grape diet” or any of these other fads). Personally, I’ve found that cutting out grains helps with my energy levels and diet adherence. That alone is worth it to me even if there’s nothing else to gain.

That’s a good approach, but modern food often loses some of its nutritional value due to processing and cooking methods, among other reasons. That’s why you need to compensate with a good multivitamin. Fish oil and multivitamins are really basic supplements that everyone should take.

Well, I found that taking Tresos B or Centrum increased my energy levels by a lot. There’s no harm in trying. I noticed a difference within 24 hours. It actually helped me deal with stress a lot better.

My wife was on a total gluten free diet for a year and a half. She went on this diet because of digestive problems she was having. The digestive problems continued on and off. She finally determined that it was not gluten that was the problem but nuts of any kind. Most gluten free products have nuts(almond flower, peanut oil, ect) of some kind in them in place of gluten. Now that she figured that out, she is back on a normal diet, nut free, and doing fine.

I tried the gluten free thing for a while and didn in fact feel a little better, but not enough to keep it up. Plus I’m just not as disciplined as some others are on diet anyway. Never had to be. I maintain my weight and health regardless of what I eat.
