I passed by Wagamama for lunch to try it out. It was my first time trying Wagamama anywhere not just Kuwait so I didn’t know what to expect. At first glance most of their menu seemed to be made up of a lot of noodles and fried food, two things which I don’t eat but after a closer look I did start spotting some grilled dishes. I decided to go with the Negima Yakitori for starters, its grilled chicken and spring onions on skewers which turned out to be very good followed by Chicken Katsu Curry. Some readers had previously recommended I try the Katsu Curry but when I found it on the menu it turned out to contain deep fried chicken which was a let down. BUT, turns out they had an option where you could swap the deep fried chicken for grilled chicken which is the option I went with. When my dish arrived it looked like the chicken was too dry but after mixing it with the rice and curry I tried it and it wasn’t dry at all. The chicken was soft and the curry sauce was pretty good.
When I first went in the place was empty so we got to sit on our own private table. On our way out the place had filled up and you had strangers sitting next to each other on the long shared tables which should theoretically be awkward but wasn’t since even though the tables are connected the benches were far apart.
I had a good experience and would probably go back. The prices were decent with the Negima Yakitori costing KD1.500 and the Katsu Curry KD3.750. You can actually download and view the whole menu with the prices from the local Wagamama website and here is the direct link to it [Link]

ive studied in the UK so compared to the wagamamas i tried there
its not 100% the same
its 75% id say but i think other things come with time
i liked the complememtary green tea i dont remember any freebees in the uk
i liked it but its a shame that the restaurant is too narrow so that more ppl are inside rather than near the window
green tea? I didn’t get any complementary green tea!
it says it on the menu
free green tea with every meal upon request
coming to think of it i was offered and so was my dad and my bro …..
did they annoy u to get dessert like they did to us?
… i kept saying thankyou thankyou
but the guy is sooo persistant then another guy took over and then he came bk again with to try to get us to order
i was likeee i have no place 4 dessert
Nope no one asked me if i wanted dessert
try real noodles first and then you will know how much of a let down this place is in terms of taste
I went there and liked the food… I reviewed it and posted some pictures too. My sister had the same thing you dead, but the deep fried one. I had the ginger chicken udon and it was good. The waiter asked if we wanted dessert, so we told him we have a cake to surprise my friend with and he ruined it! He kept asking CAKE ANYONE… CAKE???
I’ll definitely go there and try their Chicken Katsu Curry! 😛
never tried it grilled , but i think it tastes better breaded ,, try it next time
oooh and try the steak terriaki soba its Delicious!!!!!!
i don’t know if the communal tables will work in Kuwait but i tend to not mind when in Holland. one of my fave places, Wok 2 Walk, comes to mind … quick, good food to enjoy while rubbing elbows with your fellow diner of choice … or not … if it’s busy 🙂
hmmm.. looks nice.. worth a try:)
great concept – but for some reason the food is tasteless. you have to slather it in teriyaki sauce and chilli. Not just the one in kuwait – but all wagamamas everywhere.great menu, great atmosphere but shitty dry dull food…just cant figure it out…

We went there for dinner over the weekend – Monera’s right, it’s not exactly the same as in the UK, but the food is more or less the same. Miss the Tiger and Singha beers though!
Wagamamas is what it is, fairly decent food, cooked fast and served in a casual atmosphere. Unfortunately, Kuwait being the way it is, the communal benches didn’t quite work here.
We had a long chat with the manager and it seems that a lot of the staff were in from Dubai or Europe for the opening, so it’ll be interesting to see how they manage when it’s only locally sourced staff. We wish them well, though.
Mark, you should try the Yaki Soba! it’s number 40.. awesome and delicious! i’m not a fan of Japanese food but i liked the place and the quality of food.. 🙂
