First iPhone 4 in Kuwait

Just had the new iPhone 4 delivered to me to try out by X-Cite. First thing I noticed is how bulky and ugly my “old” iPhone 3Gs looks next to the new iPhone 4. Second thing I noticed is how the new screen doesn’t look too different from the older screen. From the way everyone has been talking about it online I was expecting a much bigger difference but my first impression is they look the same. I will play with the phone all day until I have to give it back to X-Cite and then later in the day post a more detailed impression on it.

If you want to check out the iPhone 4 yourself you can pass by X-Cite at the Avenues this afternoon. They will be taking pre-orders as well starting at 5PM. The price of the 16GB iPhone4 is KD299 while the 32GB is for KD359. These are officially unlocked iPhones. First shipment of iPhones will arrive to Kuwait in 1 to 2 weeks.

Update: I am guessing I currently have one of the first iPhone 4’s in the Middle East (and probably Asia) since I couldn’t find a post by anyone else about this. That’s pretty cool.

Hmm i think that’s a decent price considering it will cost anywhere between 250-260 kd for the 16gb to bring it down

Frankom there will be a ton of people selling it the question is who can u trust. Kuwait mall for example screwed a lot of people with the ipad

can’t wait for the full review! I think imma wait till i get back to the states and get it from at&t and then unlock it myself! Hope there won’t be any “yellowing” problems for the white model

There were complaints of it having a yellowish hue with the retina display and of signal problems by the antenna.

Apple UK is selling an offically unlocked Iphone for around 216kd for the 16Gb and 259 for the 32. That should come up to around 220-230 for the 16 and 270 for the 32 with shipping. And they do ship to P.O. Boxes.

Bader, I already placed an order and they canceled it. They aren’t shipping to Aramex boxes or they’re not accepting non UK credit cards.

Mark when did you order yours from the UK and when did they cancel? I placed my order on the 17th due to ship on the 4th, no cancellation received as of yet!

Well I just came from the iPhone 4 Xcite presentation and they told me its coming in a 4-8 weeks time, thats almost september. some people would rather have fun with a trip to london and grabbing one on their way back instead of this.

I was in xcite avenues .. I think iam in love with that phone..so damn sleek..Preordered..they were telling me anytime between 2 – 4 weeks..and they ll call on first come first serve

I ordered mine the day after it became available and it got canceled like a week ago. But since yours didn’t get canceled I am guessing it had something to do with my billing address since i put kuwait but i had nbk change it ages ago to my US address. I am crossing my fingers now!

I went to the xcite at avenues to check it out, I was skeptical to be honest, I thought xcite would be high priced, nut 299kD is not bad, given that it would be atleast 275 to 280 kd landed price in Kuwait. so I booked mine any way..i think these guys at xcite should deliver in about 2 weeks..

Ur credit card belongs to which bank?
You said that u kept both billing and address information on UK address, u mean Aramex address?
Did oyu change the address at ur bank as well or u only did this trick in Apple’s website?

Halfdead NBK however I have always used same shipping and billing address in all transaction, they never check, no problem till now, it should ship on the 2nd of July will keep you posted.

BTW the UK price is KD217 for the 16GB add and additional 10KD for shipping and taxes it should be KD 227 a whopping saving of KD72.

Myself, along with four friends of mine have already ordered (and delivered) though the Aramex UK account, ,and you don’t need a UK cc., limit 2 per order.

I have already received my order yesterday delivered at my French address.

I just used the address supplied by Aramex, I used my US based cc, my brother used a Kuwait based cc (CBK Visa I think, another used an NBK Visa), they don’t check on that for non-US apple stores.

Although they have flagged the US Aramex address as a forwarding address, it seems that the UK one is still not flagged as such yet!!!

is there any hidden fee for FaceTime or its just free?
and do i need to keep the voice call along with the video call??

As of today, if you order iPhone there are no hard dates for delivery on the Apple store. It only states 3 weeks.

Cool looking forward to get mine shipped on the 2nd, most probably I will miss it, as I am flying to the US. I will have to contain my excitement ! BTW MARK do you know the shipping and custom charges inured and how many it took to get here after leaving the UK Aramex box?

i just called wasel company and as the guy said to me it MIGHT come to Kuwait unlocked for 270KD for 16g and 300KD something by the first of July shahar 7

Yes you can order with your Kuwaiti Card and use your aramex UK account as long as you maintain both shipping and billing address the same.

DAMN! im so confused ,,ordering it from Apple UK or Expansys.com , guys you confirmed to me that using aramex adderess worked with ya but what did you use to pay ? NBK visa electron ? American express ?

OK here is an update, my iPhone shipped from the UK today, more specifically from Ireland. Paid with my mastercard from NBK, shipped to Aramex UK – Billing address same as above. delivery to aramex expected on the 7th of July.

I purchased it through apple UK on June 29th and the expected shipping date is on 20th of July :s
does it mean I’ll have to wait till that date to expect anything or it “may” ship before? anybody experienced this ?

If I ordered an iphone from the uk apple store and got it via aramex, what’s the estimated overall price till it gets to my door step for say.. The 32 gb?

Just to keep you updated, the package was shipped directly from Apple Manufacturing Facilities in Shenzhen. Estimated delivery date was yesterday. Then checked today I got this Current Delivery Status In transit to destination country – next updates expected in 4-5 business days. Funny my invoice states it was shipped from Ireland!

Another update, today my Master Card got debited with 225KDfrom Apple. I called NBK and asked about the rate discrepancies, as it shows 220KD using their online rate calculate they claimed its Mastercard rates that are being applied. Anyways here is the latest on the iPhone 4.It is at a sorting facility in Holland.

I ordered the iphone 4 from the apple uk store about 3 weeks ago to my UK Aramex box, it shipped earlier than the date estimated and arrived at Aramex UK yesterday, does anyone have any idea how long it will take to arrive to Kuwait?

i ordered iphone 4 from uk store putting the billing address of US from aramex, and it worked, my phone is held in the customs and it should be delivered by tomorrow. i cant wait 🙂

guys I got the iPhone today… I put it in the sim card it keeps saying no sim … any suggestions .. what should I do ??

Yeah i did cut it myself it didnt work on the iPhone for some reason but it worked on my old phone been told that my sim is too old well it is anyways I contacted wataniya they said I have to go for a branch and I did told them what the problem is and they gave me a new micro SIM for 5 KD
