First Ring Road done?

A reader emailed to tell me that the First Ring Road is going to open up tomorrow but I didn’t think it was true. I passed by the other day and it didn’t look like it was going to be finished but according to an article on Kuna the road and bridge should be open to the public tomorrow. Weird. [Link]

Only the bridge that connects the southernmost part of the major highway with Jamal Abdulnaser Street will be open tomorrow 🙂

This is weird. My office is right on top of the construction site. the bridge looked ready weeks ago, but the connection of the 1st ring road with the bridge looked ages away from being ready. Would be impressed if I saw cars crossing tomorrow.

What I think should open up tomorrow is the end of the 1st ring road which is currently closed / diverted.

I wish that some one can explain exactly the bridge which is going to open today. Is it the one which is at the end of the 1st ring road going over the Sheraton roundabout? Pin point on Google maps if you can )

what was wrong with the first idea?

personally, i think kuwait should have invested in underground transport earlier on, an entire network of it. thats the best way to beat the soaring heat.

Kuwait should stop investing on roads as that will only increase cars. Public transport is the answer , or make special roads for bikes & motorcycles

“The minister, accompanied by Undersecretary for Road Affairs, Hussain Al-Mansour, asked the project’s chief of construction when the bridge would be open to motorists, to which he was told August 17.”
BUT HE DID NOT SAY WHICH YEAR!

LoooooooooooooooooooooooooooL!!! Exactly 🙂

Can anyone confirm if the bridge is opened and functional now?

The bridge wasn’t opened due to the lack of road signs. The M.O. Public Works didn’t discover that till the very morning the bridge was supposed to be opened.

It was a huge, sad, and very silly oversight. It clearly proves the unprofessionalism of our ministries in handling any public project, and its inability to perform any job at any acceptable (not great or excellent) level..
