The creator of Grendizer will be holding a lecture this month here in Kuwait. I found the following on the blog electronish:
Go Nagai, is a Japanese manga artist and a prolific author of science fiction, fantasy and horror. He made his professional debut in 1967 with Meakashi Polikichi, but is best known for creating the seminal works UFO Grendizer, Cutie Honey and Mazinger Z in the 1970’s.”
Mr. Go Nagai will visit the middle east in October, he will be visiting Jordan, Kuwait and Egypt!! I’m glad to be nominated to be one of the coordination team members for this event. The event will be held on two days the 10th and the 11th of Oct. ‘09. The 10th will be exclusive for VIP “LIMITED SEATS”, to have the opportunity in attending the VIP event you should register with Mr. Wael Abdulsamad ‘cos you need to pass a certain contest/draw managed by him under the supervision of the Embassy of Japan. For the second day, 11th of Oct., the event will be for PUBLIC, everyone can attend. So you don’t have to contact Mr. Wael Abdulsamad for a registration to attend the second event. However, the attendance will be taken in a FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED basis, the capacity of the hall will be approximately 330-350. Anyhow, more details will be announced during Aug. and Sep., so if you’re really concerned just contact The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait or email Mr. Wael Abdulsamad ([email protected]) for further information.

He should be honored by all Kuwaiti’s men since they have grown up with his manga’s masterpieces ( etc. Grendizer & Mazinger )

Already 200 people are attending. The Embassy closed the VIP tickets. The public tickets will be limited. My friends and I wanted an extra ticket but it was kind of impossible to get 1 more.
Many of us have already got our passes for the event on 11th, but the highlight will be the fan meet on Oct. Security is very tight as per instructions from Go Nagai San’s company and no cameras allowed. There may also be a premier of the new Mazinger Z movie and Ms. Kadoya has also suggested cosplay for the fans but I doubt how many people will show up dressed as Duke Fleed 😛

Oh boy i loved this cartoon as a kid, though never understood it as it was in arabic, but actions speak better than words, so i want to go but i think tickets are all sold out, y y y y y y y y y y y
There WERE two contests to reserve a seat in the VIP event. First was the drawing contest, the second contest was the GO NAGAI items collections, e.g., actions figures, posters etc. However, those two contests are over and the VIP’s should have been already nominated/selected.
The public event which is gonna be on the 11th will be held at the 360o mall and they will be showing a new episode of his most recent work the Great Mazinger, besides the lecture and the Q&A sessions. No autographs will be permitted and most probably no photo snaps too!!
Some attendees might cosplay some of his anime characters!! I wanna see that, LOL!

Go Nagai created the cartoon that affected my childhood! and to him I give the credit for endless bruises and cuts due to my constant trials to jump and mimic the DUUUKEEE FLEEEEED jump to ride in GRENDIZEEEEERRRRR
so everyone wants to relive his childhood..
anybody know when is the time of the second lecture on the 1th / public lecture? I assume the location is the Japanese embassy?
