Huge demonstration today?

Just passed the House of Parliament today morning and noticed high fences were placed alongside the roads in front of the parliament building plus there were a ton of cops parked and walking about. Riot trucks and buses were also parked including the large one that fires water and has a huge pole with a camera mounted on top. I couldn’t see any demonstrators though, I guess they are planning on coming by later.

What happened yesterday inside the parliament was really disappointing. People were fighting, yelling, and even asking God in a laud voice to vanish some ministers/senators who stood against dropping debts (Allah YaKhithkom)…

I’d heard that today’s demonstration was over me leaving the country.

Apparently a large proportion of the Kuwaiti population is very upset and can’t wait for my return.

Seriously.

you lot should have seen the raw footage of the meeting.
it’s like a fucking arabic masra7iyaa with all the swearing and fighting.

I think this should be handled on individual basis as some people don’t need the debts to be dropped and can surely afford to pay them back. On the other hand, some people might be loaded with debts to a life threatening level.
Another solution might be paying the next coming installment or two and let everyone have a better start for a new year.

walla fashla. if such a bill passes expect the same hoopla every couple of years; as well as fancier cars on the streets, bigger houses and an overall lower sense of responsibility

“if you can understand arabic, you’ll notice the woman wearing Channel glasses and holding a brand new Nokia mobile phone asking to drop the debts !!!”

LoL!! 7amdillah wel shikiR!

maybe the all the pansy moochers and leeches decided they didnt want to get their brand new 500kd dasha’s dirty so decided to take a day off from shirking work…

bunch of pansy loser handout people…

what is it with kuwaitis.. they don’t pay back their loans and expect the government to just take care of that shit, just like that?

maybe i am missing something and someone ought to elucidate this crap to me??

the rest of the world would think this is an absolute farce if they knew the reason people are causing such a ruckus over there

i think, they should illiminate democracy in kuwait…technically speaking it never did shit…

just make it a proper monarchy, and who doesnt like it can….not like it!?

Adam – totally right mate. Look at Dubai, Doha, Bahrain (well, it’s initial rise to fame), Singapore… all these places are virtual dictatorships and THINGS GET DONE as a result.

We need a Maktoum to say things like “Build It!” Then we’d have the Silk City etc. all finished.

Kuwait gift helps Louisiana hospital
Big News Network (UPI)

Former U.S. President Bush and actor George Clooney delivered a $2 million check this week to help build a new hospital in hurricane-battered Louisiana.

The funds from the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund will go to help rebuild the small hospital in Cameron, La., that was wrecked by Hurricane Rita.

Bush, the president’s father, and Clooney spent time in Cameron Wednesday signing autographs and shaking hands with the townsfolk.

The hospital only has 25 beds, but it is primary source of emergency medical treatment for workers on offshore oilrigs. The Houston Chronicle said the money was a gift to the hurricane fund from oil-rich Kuwait.

The newspaper also said that while the hurricane fund had been set up to aid Katrina victims, the former president cleared the donation with former President Clinton and the IRS so that the money could go to assist the town that was roughed up by Rita.
